21- Late Shift
*Nate's Perspective*
I sniffled, having been sitting in the corner for a good fifteen minutes now. I shouldn't have screamed. I was bad. Joshua let me know how bad I was. "I sowwy!" He hugged him when he told me it was okay to get up. He sighed softly. "I know baby, just don't do it again," he said as he picked me up, squeezing my bottom to see if I needed a change. That was a definite yes. I hid into his shoulder as he carried me to the bedroom. Marcus soon walked in. "Josh, I'm headed to work, I can't help the other boys with homework," he told Joshy. "Alright, I'll be there," he said as he wiped my butt. "Bye bye little cutie," Marcus cooed as he tickled my stomach. This had caused me to giggle.
*Mathew's perspective*
I had been so careful not to let anyone know. I had been so careful that it almost went unnoticed, but of course, someone did. Someone always does. What do I do now? I don't want to eat. I don't want to gain anymore weight. After taking Dillion home, I decided to go on a walk to clear my head, making sure I wouldn't get jumped as I passed the shady part of town. It was stupid of me to go alone, but I made it alive unscathed. Josh would've killed me if I walked in with a busted lip or something. I know how he feels about that part of town. I checked the time. Almost seven. I sighed and headed back, running in a sprint halfway through, but had to soon stop since I was clearly out of shape. Maybe I should start working out. No. That's too much work. "Where have you been?!" Josh scolded as I walked through the door. "I stayed at Dillion's for a little bit," I shrugged. He walked over to me angrily. "You're lying rocks me," he said sternly. "No," I try not to look away. "Go to your room," he said in a voice that made me fear. "Y-yes sir," I quickly went up to my room, wondering if he's punish me. It would be a lot worse if he did know where I was. That was none of his business though. From seemed like hours, I waited. I nearly jumped when I heard the door squeak open. I sighed in relief upon seeing Luke. He shyly bit his thumb. "Um...it's time for dinner," he said awkwardly. "Alright,be down in a bit," I said as I quickly dig through my bag to start on my homework, knowing I had to get it done otherwise Josh would get super mad. I quickly made my way down after solving a math problem since it took fifteen minutes to do.
*Josh's Perspective*
I almost got concerned when Matthew didn't come when I called since he loved chicken Parmesan pasta. "Help yourself," I said as I finished before checking the time. I sighed. "I have to go, Marcus should be home soon, but for now, Tim's in charge," I said before going to put my shoes on, having not noticed Nate. "Bedtime is by seven thirty for Nate, everyone else, eight," I said after grabbing my keys. I then went to work, which I kinda dreaded.
*Timothy's perspective*
Whelp, I was officially scared. I had never really been alone to babysit little Nate, and I'm unsure what he'd need if he cries. I lifted him up when he finished the pasta and carried him to the bathroom to give him a bath since I've helped Marc wash him before and he had sauce all over him. I made sure to scrub him well, getting all the sauce off. Did you even get any in your mouth? I got him dressed, which was kinda of a struggle since diapers are hard.I sighed when I decided it was good enough and warmed a bottle of milk for him before carrying him to bed, sitting in the rocking chair as I slowly rocked him. I smiled when he had put up no fight, suckling the nice warm milk. Maybe this wasn't going to be too hard after all.
*Marcus's Perspective*
I was a few hours late due to having to pick up a few hours extra to even the odds. I better be paid for that. I quickly shoot a text to Josh on my way out, letting him know I'm on my way. I turned on the radio (awe sweet! Josh's Fall Out Boy CD) and head off. By the time I got there, it was already Nate's nap time and I could tell Josh wasn't too happy, but it wasn't my fault. I had already told him my situation. "Good luck," he mumbled before grabbing the keys and heading out the door. I sighed and walked over to Nate who was currently laying in Tim's arms, clearly having none of it. I sighed again and took him. "Quit," I said sternly, not in the best mood since I was tired and still needed to shower. "Has he been this bad all day?" I asked Tim. He simply shrugged. "How do you not know?" He asked. He simply looked down and walk off to his room. I gently stroked Nate's hair, saying nothing.
*Josh's Perspective*
I had told my boss what had happened, but he was having none of it, simply telling me to get to work. I did as told and went to work, already feeling like quitting, but knew it was too soon for that. "You okay?" One of my co-workers asked. I looked up to him before glancing around. "Not in the slightest," I answered as I went to work. "Something happen?" How stupid could he be? I looked away. "Think boss doesn't like me," he mumbled as I began to work. "And why's that?" He asked me. "Because I'm the only one he's hard on," I said. "Yeah, because you're his favorite. He going to push you harder," my colleague told me. I rolled my eyes. "You really think that?" I asked. He simply shrugged. "Let's just hope I'm not the first to go, I heard he's been cutting people lately," I said. "I'll make sure he doesn't," he tells me. Why does he even care? He hardly knows me. "You'd risk getting laid off for me?" I asked. "Look Josh, you're one of the most hard working people here, you deserve to keep this job," he told me, causing me to smile a little. "At least someone noticed," I joked a little. Maybe this won't be that bad after all.
