Cole was an observer, that's who he was.

He never had a problem with sitting on the sidelines while others thrive in their own world. He liked to keep to himself and his very small group of friends. It was nice that way. No one knew him, but he knew everyone. Like the moon in everyone's sunshine, like the eclipse. Or the shadow of the students who walked by. There was once where he didn't talk for a whole month, from full moon to full moon. Friends and family knew why of course, but from the third point of view it looked weird. Cole was definitely associated with that word in more ways than one. For example, his eyes. They are sharp and once you meet them, you can't look away. His gaze is so intense, it's one of the things people find creepy or unsettling about him. However, if you do ask around, some do find it cute and intriguing. Jesse's eyes are described as more soft, and vulnerable.

That was the main difference between the two cousins. Jesse was much more sensitive, whereas Cole, resilient. Nothing could tie the two together like their other friend, Kio. The Hufflepuff boy was very energetic and upbeat, never failed to make people laugh. He was by far the most popular one out of the trio. But that would soon change when Hermione Granger found out about the boy who was "competing" with her for the top of the class. She didn't know who the boy was until Seamus let it slip that he was studying with a certain Ravenclaw to get his marks up. It caught her attention, who was the boy that was so... enlightened? That's when she started looking out for him more. Seeing him in crowds, his black messy hair sticking out to her like library books. Speaking of, she started finding him in his own corner at the edge of the library. The window he sat by encased him in a beautiful, serene lighting, almost unreal you may say, too perfect. 'Has he always been there?', she thought. Maybe she just hadn't noticed him before, but how could she? With her time being occupied by Harry and his endeavors, Cole was so invisible.

But not anymore, now she saw him. And only him. And his beautiful baby blue eyes.
