6- Lake
SEOKJIN'S P.O.V
"Seriously? Why can't I see just so I can just find my stupid phone?!"
Her voice repeated over and over again in my head, and I reopened my eyes.
I sat up from my bed, and I sighed.
It must be so hard for her, and I couldn't help but pity her.
But then again, she said that she didn't need pity.
"Even if you don't want or need my help, I'll always be there for you no matter how many times you want me to help you, or to go away."
Now that I thought about it, I'm just glad I said that to her.
I smiled to myself, remembering how quiet she became when I said that to her.
"Jin! Dinner's ready!" My mother called me, and I sighed and got up and walked out of my room.
I sat down and ate with my family in silence, only listening to my mom and dad's conversation about work, and such.
All of a sudden, my phone buzzed in my pocket and I reached down and took it out and checked it.
Message: Hi Jin, it's Sumin. Thank you for yesterday. I wasn't like myself, I'm sorry. And no, your words didn't upset me at all. I'm actually glad that you said that to me... I really needed it.
When I was about to reply, my hyung snatched it out of my hands.
"Oh, who is Jinnie talking too," He says as he began reading her text to me.
"Yah, hand it over hyung," I say as I got up and tried to reach over the table for it.
"Seokjin! Sit down in your seat and eat," My mom says and I turned to look at her.
"But he has my phone!" I say, and I turned back to see him smiling to himself as he was typing something into my phone, before I snatched it back.
"Too late," He says and chuckled. "That's for when I asked you for money but you didn't give me any."
I looked down in horror as he already sent the text to her.
Message: I love you ♥
"Hyung!" I yelled, looking at him who had his arms crossed with a smirk on his face.
"What? I know you like her so just tell her already. I'm just helping here," He just says and shrugged.
"Boys!" My father yelled, and we both got quiet and sat back down in our chairs, but I glared at hyung who's wearing that smirk just to annoy me to pieces.
"I hope you enlist into the army soon," I mumbled, and he scoffed.
"Who is she anyways?" He asks.
"None of your business," I just say.
"Mom! Jinnie has a girlfriend!" He says to our mother, who looked at me.
"Is this true?" She asks, and my dad looked up at me.
"No! She's just a friend-"
"Seokjin, what did I say to you countless times before? You have to study before you get into a relationship. You are very young and you are still in high school. You're there to study, not to get a girlfriend."
I just sighed and looked down at my plate.
"Did you hear me?"
"Yeh." I just replied to my dad, and my brother snickered.
"You too! Now be quiet and eat your dinner," My dad says to my brother too, who stopped.
After dinner I went back to my room and sat down on the bed, looking at the text.
"Aishhh, why did he have to do that?" I mumbled, and pressed on the text to delete it. "No, no maybe I should write something back and tell her that it was my brothers doing... No!"
I laid back down on the bed, and frowned at my phone.
She still hasn't read it yet, which was good already, but the anticipation was real.
I should go to her house? But it's the weekend...
Who cares if it's the weekend or not! I should go there and tell her.
I sat back up, and went to my closet to grab my jacket and walked out of my room.
"Mom! Dad! I'll be out for a moment!" I say before I walked out of the house, and started to head towards her house.
As I walked, the nervousness grew higher and higher and I stopped a couple times.
But I calmed myself down, and made it all the way to her house.
I stopped in front of her house, and took a deep breath and walked up to her front door, and knocked.
I knocked about three times, but no one came to the door.
Maybe they went out for something...
As I was about to turn back, the door began to open.
I turned back, and saw a lady there.
"Annyeonghaseyo! My name is Seokjin, and I'm friends with Sumin." I say as I bowed.
She smiled a little, and nodded. "What brings you here?"
"I want to talk to Sumin for a bit." I say, and she came out of the house.
"Sumin? Ah... she's not here right now." She says, and I frowned.
"Oh... really?" I say, getting disappointed.
"But she's at the park right now if you want to talk to her." She said with a smile, and I nodded and thanked her before I turned away and walked towards the park.
But I was worried why she was there alone, and so I hurried there.
When I got there, I looked around for her, to see her not at the benches, or the sidewalks.
I walked down to the lake, and looked around until I saw a girl in the distance at the board walk of the lake, holding a walking stick in one of her hands, and that's when I knew that was her, and hurried there.
When I got closer, I saw that she was feeding bread to some ducks there, and I stopped.
So that's why she didn't check her phone.
"ah, here you go," I heard her say, as she crouched down and threw bread into the water, instead of the ducks that were near her feet.
Somehow I thought it was funny, but then stopped myself from laughing because it was sad.
"Quack quack!" She says, and I nearly laughed out loud this time, but placed my hand over my mouth to keep from laughing.
"okay, this is the last few pieces of bread and then I gotta go home," she says and threw out some bread. "oh wait, maybe I dropped it near my feet,"
she says and started to walk closer to edge of the board walk, and reached out to grab the bread, but she started to stumble, and I realized that she was about to fall.
I ran forward, causing all of the ducks to run or fly away, and grabbed her just before she could fall into the lake, and into my arms, but I lost my grounding.
And we both splashed into the water.
