18- Worry
"Sumin, I have a surprise for you today," Jin says, and I closed my book in my lap.
"What is it?" I say as I started to smile, but that only lasted for a moment when I felt someone put their hands on my shoulder from behind.
"HI SUMIN! IT'S HOSEOK!"
"Ahhh!" I screamed, and got up from the bench.
"Yah! I told you not to do that!" Jin says to his friend while I tried to calm myself down.
"Sumin? Are you alright?" Jin then asked me, and I just nodded.
"Um, sorry about that, I'll start over," His friend said.
"Hi, my name is Hoseok, and I'm one of Jin's best friends. You were in my middle school before!"
"Yes I was! You gave me a fright there," I say, and he started to laugh really loud.
"Sorry!" He says, and I smiled.
"It's alright!" I say, knowing him, he was a really loud person, even back then.
"So, Sumin, I've brought five of my friends here with me, since I wanted to introduce them to you." Jin says and I nodded, understanding what his surprise was now.
"Hi Sumin, you might remember me too, in middle school," His voice was very familiar, but I couldn't really pinpoint who it was. "My name is Namjoon,"
"Oh! Namjoon! Hi," I say and I placed my hand out, and we shook hands. "I do remember you!"
"Glad to see you again," He says politely.
Another one came up to me. "Hi! My name is Jimin, and I find you really pretty-"
"Yah!" Jin cutted him off, and he ran away.
"Awe, thank you! And it was nice meeting you Jimin, wherever you are now," I say, trailing off, and Jin chuckled.
"Sorry about Jimin there, he can be really flirty sometimes," I heard someone else say. "My name is Jungkook by the way, and it's nice getting to meet you finally."
"Same for you, Jungkook." I say as I smiled.
"And lastly, the person you've been wanting to meet," Jin says, and I got excited.
"Yoongi?" I say, and I heard someone with a rather deep voice laugh.
"That's me," He says, as he walked up to me. "Hey, I'm Yoongi, and I heard from Jin that you wanted to meet me so badly, aye?"
I chuckled nervously, and smiled. "Jin told me about you, and I thought you were cool,"
"Okay times up," Jin says, and I heard him push Yoongi away from me.
"Swag out," Yoongi says, and I broke out in laughter.
"Swag," I say, causing the others to laugh.
"See that? That's another reason to prove that I'm actually quite influenceable," Yoongi says, and the others just mumbled somethings, or groaned.
"That was cute how Sumin said swag, unlike you, who makes it sound so gangster like," I think Jimin says, and the other guys started to laugh.
"Jimin," Jin called him sternly.
"What? I'm just saying," Jimin says, and I imaged him shrugging.
"Well, it was nice to meet all of you!" I say, completely changing the subject.
"Yeah it was! Hey Jin! You should bring her with you whenever you're hanging out with us! She's a really cool person!" Jimin says, and I started to like Jimin more.
After a while of getting to talk to them, I began to see that they all were nice guys, and I was glad that they accepted me for how I was, and took the time to be patient with me.
In the end, I found a great liking for all of them, and was super happy that I got to make new friends, though Jin, and their impression left me happy throughout the whole afternoon, and evening.
"So? What did you think?" Jin asked me while we were walking home together.
"I think you have the most coolest friends, ever!" I say excitedly and started to skip.
"Woah, woah, slow down,"
He says, and I laughed when he grabbed my hand, and pulled me back to him.
"You really think so?"
"Of course! They all were so nice to me, especially Jimin!"
"Why? Just because he called you pretty?" He asked me back in a lower tone.
"Oh? Is Jinnie getting jealous?" I say.
"Urgh! I'm so angry!" He yelled, and I started to laugh as he started to act like he was.
"Fire in my veins! I'm so furious!"
"It's time for you to calm down, Mr.Hulk." I say, and he started to laugh.
"Wait, I have a question," He says.
"What is it?" I asked him.
"What makes the hulk calm down?"
"... Are you asking for a kiss right now, Mr.Kim?" I say, and he started to chuckle nervously.
"I can't help myself..." He trailed off, and I tried to stop myself from smiling, but I couldn't help it.
"Yah, how many times do you want my face to turn red?"
"As many times as it wants, but only for me who causes them to turn red in the first place," He says, before swooping down, and pecked me on my cheek, causing me to blush again.
"Hey, do you want to promise me something?" He asks me.
"And what's that?"
"That you'll be with me forever?"
"How can you be so sure of that?"
I say with a laugh, but I stopped once I didn't hear him laugh along with me too.
"Jin?"
There was silence for a moment, before he spoke up again.
"Don't say things like that." He says in a serious tone, and I frowned.
"Jin, I was just joking you know... I didn't mean for it to be serious..." I say, trailing off. I seriously didn't think before I had said it, and now it's just awkward. "Jin..."
"It's alright," He just says. "It's just... I got a little worried for a second there."
"No Jin, I'm really sorry for what I said, really. I just thought it came off as a joke but I guess it didn't turn out as what I'd expected."
"Well it's whatever. Let's forget that that happened, alright?" He says, and I nodded slowly.
"Mm." I agreed, and bowed my head down.
I really was sorry, and I hoped he didn't take it deeply...
Suddenly, my eyes started to act up again, and I started to feel some pain, and I closed my eyes.
"Ow," I say, holding my right eye.
"Hey, you alright?" Jin asked me.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." I say, still holding my hand over my eyes.
"Are you sure?" Jin asked me again.
"Yes, I'm fine, don't worry about it. My eyes are just acting stupid right now, it'll pass soon." I say as I shook my head, and waited for the pain to pass.
"Have you been checking with the eye doctor lately?" Jin asked me worriedly.
"No, not recently," I say, and reopened my eyes.
I started to see some white dots in my blurry vision, and I tried to blink them away.
"Sumin, I think you should check up with them again. If your eyes are showing some change, then you should go and tell your doctor about it-"
"Jin, it's not that easy." I say, interrupting him.
"What do you mean?" Jin asked me.
"There's some personal reasons that I can't explain to you," I just say, since I was embarrassed to tell Jin all about our family situation with the whole, "We can't afford to pay it" ordeal.
"Oh... well, is there at least anything that I could do to help?" He asked innocently, and I felt the sudden urge to cry, and I stopped myself from doing that.
"It's okay Jin, it's really okay."
I just say, and he stopped walking, causing me to stop also, since we were holding hands.
He took my other hand in his, and caressed them both in his.
"Sumin, if you have any thoughts that are keeping you awake during the night, remember that you have me now, so at anytime, you can talk to me about whatever problems that are bothering you."
I bowed my head, and bit my lip to stop from trying to cry.
"Sumin? Did you hear me?"
He asks me softly, as he reached and tilted my chin up, so that I was face to face with him.
A slow smile spread across my lips, and I nodded. "Mmm."
He chuckled. "Come here,"
He says, and I opened my arms and wrapped them around his torso, so as his arms that wrapped around my waist. I didn't know how long we stayed in each other's arms like that, but it felt like a long time, which I didn't mind of course.
I couldn't stop thinking about those words that he had said to me, even late at night when I was lying in bed, and I smiled as I hugged the pillow closer to my body, imagining that it was him instead.
But I stopped smiling when I realized my problem was about, the one that kept me from not telling Jin. The only reason why I couldn't get an eye transplant was because we lacked the money.
And another reason to add... was because my eyes were getting worse.
I could see things that are of color, but it's very blurry. But now, I'm beginning to see white and black dots all around in my vision, and I knew it was a sign that I could go completely blind.
And when you go completely blind, it was no use to get an eye transplant anymore, so I knew my time was limited.
I was scared for my own self, and how could I bring myself to tell my parents, and to Jin alone?
I closed my eyes, and began to hope for the best, to whatever that happens in the future.
I've done a whole lot of research on blindness, and it's true once you go completely blind, you can't get an eye transplant. When people get eye transplants it doesn't mean that they replace your whole eyeball or anything like that.
They replace some of the damaged veins that the eye muscles use, connecting to the cornea, for a better one so that the vision would be restored again.
If you want to learn more about it, you can always do some research too ;)
I just realized my fanfic could be educational too.
LEARN KIDS. LEARN! lol xD
