Haven't seen the episodes of last week but my version of the two marriages and Sameer's craziness spoiler based on some real-life stories! May be CVs will blow us away with something unexpected but I had to get this out of my system. Also, I don't support self-hurting and any bane superstitions that unfortunately these still prevail in our modern society.
This story starts after Samaina return home and Sameer reaches home after the drama at Naina's place.
"Sonu Beta, aa gaya tu? Kahan reh gaya tha? Tujhe pataa hai tere peeche yahan kya kya hua?" Mamaji was relieved to see his nephew back but was also worried for him.
"Arre ise kya puch rahe hai? Yeh khud hi toh iss kaand mein shaamil tha?" Bobby accused Sameer as always having full faith that he would be involved in every wrongdoing.
"Suniye, aap shaant ho jayiye. Main baat karti hoon Sameer se. Woh kabhi aisa kuch nahi karega". Vishakha tried to calm him down.
"Arre tum kya baat karogi Vishakha. Iss baat ko baat karne layak choda kahan hai! Mujhe laga itne din hamare saath Delhi mein raha, toh kuch akal aa gayi hogi. Par nahi yahan aate hi sab waisa ka waisa. Ab tak toh aawara aur badtameez tha, ab ladkiyan bhi bhagane laga! Ek baar nahi socha ki hamare parivaar ka naam kitna badnaam hoga. Woh ladki ka baap aake hame ulti seedhi baatein suna gaya. Aur hume sunni padi kyonki sikka toh hamara hi khota hai. Arre hamari nahi toh kam-se-kam apne swargawasi Nana ki izzat ka khayal toh kar lete", Bobby kept ranting and accusing Sameer.
Vishakha added fuel to the fire "suniye aap Sameer ko mat daantiye. Mujhe yakeen hai ki uss chantt ladki ne hi mere bhole bhale Sameer ko apne pyaar ke jhaal mein fasaya hoga".
"Sahi keh rahi ho aap didi. Aisi middle-class ladkiyon ko khoob jaanti hoon main. Sundar ameer ladka dekhke fansa leti hai. Pakka usne hi hamare Saamer ko bhagaya hoga taaki duniyawalon ke aur badnami ke darr se uski shaadi apne bete se kar de. Warna kahan hamara hero jaisa Sameer aur kahan woh ek mamuli ladki", Mamiji defended Sameer but accused Naina in the process.
Till now Sameer was silent when he was being targeted by his stepfather as somehow it might be considered wrong to elope with a girl even if for a few hours but the moment the gun was pointed at his Naina, he was super angry and couldn't keep mum. "Buss kariye aap log! Aap log bad ho toh iska matlab yeh nahi hai ki jo mann mein aaya bolte jayenge. Aur aap logon ko jo bhi kehna na hai mujhse kahiye, meri Naina ke khilaaf ek labz nahi sununga main".
Directing to his mom and her husband, "haan...maine bhagaya Naina ko. Par uski marzi se aur Chachiji ki ijaazat se. Kyonki Naina aur main ek dusre se bahut pyar karte hain aur main uski shaadi zabaradasti kahi aur kaise hone deta. Issliye uss waqt jo sahi laga wahi kiya. Chachaji ke aane tak main Naina ko apne saath le gaya taaki shaadi tal jaaye".
Vishakha was very angry at how rebellious her son had become and was talking with such disrespect to her husband. She was so enraged that she came forward and slapped him hard. "Badtameez toh tu tha hi ab besharam bhi jo gaya. Aise baat karte hai apne badon se. Pataa nahi uss tez ladki ne tere sar par kya jaadu kar diya hai ki tujhe uske alawa kuch nahi dikhta". Trying to force him to understand that Naina wasn't right for him, she held him by the shoulders and continued in a pleading but aggressive tone, "tu samajh kyon nahi raha hai beta! Iss umar mein jo hota hai woh pyar nahi hota. Yeh sirf ek attraction ya infatuation ho sakta hai. Tujhe woh cycle yaad hai bachpan mein jo aadhi raat ko tu ne paane ki zidd kar li thi aur fir chaar din baad jab dil bhar gaya khelke toh kone mein fenk di. Buss, yeh bhi aisa hi hai beta, aaj hum tujhe mana kar rahe hai tere achche ke liye toh tune Naina ki zidd pakad li hai. Thode din usse durr rahega toh apne aap bhool jayega". (CVs might not show that Naina conveyed the happenings verbatim, so Sameer should know what his family thinks of Naina).
Sameer was flabbergasted at how shallow his mother thought about Naina and their love. He was enraged but then calmed down thinking about Naina and how calmly she had handled her family without being disrespectful and also endured slaps and taunts to protect him. He looked at his mother and smirked with a crooked smile.
"Yahi toh fark hai Mummy, aap mein aur Naina mein. Mujhe lagta tha ki bhale hi aap mere saath nahi rehti par jitna Naina mujhe jaanti hai utna hi balki shayad usse bhi zyaada aap mujhe jaanti hai. Par main galat tha. Aap na mujhe jaanti hai aur na hi hamare pyar ki gehrayibko samajh paa rahi hai. Main kabhi soch bhi nahi sakta tha Mummy ki aap ki soch itni choti hai ki ek 20 saal ke ladke ke 5 saal ke pyar ko aapne ek 6 saal ke bachche ki cycle ki zidd ke saath compare kar diya".
He removed her hands from his shoulders and continued "Aap Naina ko nahi jaanti Mummy. Aap ko lagta hai na ki woh tez hai aur jo thaan le woh kar ke rehti hai. Aaj main khud aapse kehta hoon ki Naina bahut ziddi hai, aur jab baat meri ya hamare pyar ki hoti hai toh woh na rukti hai na thakti hai na haar maanti hai. Naina jitna pyar mujhse koi aur nahi kar sakta, aap bhi nahi".
He started to leave but then stopped and stated very confidently "aap log jo marzi kar lo, par na Naina ko mere dil se nikal sakte ho aur na hi hume pyar karne se rok sakte ho".
He was halfway in the corridor when he heard Mamiji "Yeh kya keh ke gaya hai Sameer? Vishakha didi, kahi isne bhaagkar shaadi kar li toh?"
Sameer came back and assured them, "Aap log tension mat lijiye, waise toh Nanu ne bhi kaha tha ki zaroorat padi toh ladki bhagane mein meri madad karenge, par main bhaagke shaadi nahi karoonga. Issliye nahi ki aap logon ki fikr hai mujhe, par apni Naina ki beizzati bilkul bardaasht nahi hai." His eyes had red threads and crazy insaneness in love that only might have been written about in divine love stories.
After he left, Mamaji exclaimed helplessly "Sonu beta ka yeh roop aaj tak kabhi nahi dekha. Vishakhaben, jaldi kuch sochna padega".
"Arre kuch nahi hoga! Khokhli dhamki hai hame darane ke liye taaki hamesha ki tarah hum iski baat maan le aur zidd puri kar de. Ab yeh bachcha nahi raha, khud kehke gaya hai na ki 20 saal ka hai toh ab ise samajhna hoga ki jo nahi ho sakta woh nahi ho sakta".
The four elders looked on in the direction he had left with a calm but none knew that a thunderstorm was brewing beneath the facade waiting to strike if disturbed.
At Agrawal house:
After Sameer left, Chachaji got to know the whole truth that the elders were getting Naina forcibly married to Sharad and she left with Sameer for few hours to wait for his return and Bela had permitted her to go as she couldn't see her daughter's life ruined while she remained a mute spectator. He apologized to his dear daughter for harsh words and actions in a fit of rage that she had negated his upbringing and the values he had instilled in her. When she hugged her dear foster father, he came back to his self being the doting defending father he was to his girls. He pleaded, reasoned, argued, fought, and finally convinced the elder Agrawals including Rakesh to at least once meet with Sameer's family as their daughter's happiness was with him.
Naina called Sameer as advised by Chachaji.
"Hello"
"Hello Sameer, main bol rahi hoon".
"Naina tum! Sab theek toh hai na? Tum theek ho? Mere jane ke baad, kisine kuch kaha toh nahi? Fir se thappad toh nahi maara? Kya Chachaji abhi bhi gussa hai? Main ek baar aur baat karoon unse?" Worry was evident in each question he asked her.
She was slightly cheerful as things were slowly turning in their favour ar her place but she was worried about his family. However, she couldn't ask him upfront as Chachaji was hovering over her waiting to talk to him.
"Yahan sab theek hai Sameer. Ummm...Chachaji tumse baat karna chahte hai".
Sameer scrunched his brows bracing himself for the onslaught of words while she handed the black cordless to Chachaji.
"Hello, Sameer beta".
"Ji Chachaji".
"Gusse mein maine tum donon ko bahut kuch bol diya bina tumhari puri baat sune. Par ab main sab jaan gaya hoon. Naina ne toh mujhe maaf kar diya, par tumse maafi maangni hai mujhe".
Sameer interrupted "Nahi Chachaji. Aisa mat kahiye. Main achchi tarah jaanta hoon ki aap hamare pyar ko samajhte hai aur nahi chahte ki hum kuch bhi aisa kare ki sabke samne nazrein jukani pade, aur yakeen kijiye, humne aisa kuch nahi kiya".
Chahchaji smiled, "jaanta hoon aur ab tum donon par bharosa aur bhi pakka ho gaya hai mera. Issliye maine Bhaisaheb aur Bhabhiji ko mana liya hai. Hum sab tumhare gharwalon se milna chahte hai taaki donon parivaar milkar shaadi ki baat aage badhaye."
Sameer had a million dollar smile that Naina's family had finally agreed to their alliance. But Chachaji's next question left him disappointed and sad again.
"Toh bolo Sameer, kal shaam ko lekar aaoge apne gharwalon ko hamare yahan?" Sameer's words died in his throat. After the fall-out with his family he had no clue how he was going to convince them.
"Ummm....ummm.... Chachaji, main sabse baat karke batata hoon".
"Theek hai! Hame intezaar rahega", Chachaji completed and handed the phone to Naina, caressed her hair and smiled and blessed his dear daughter and left.
Naina smiled and continued the conversation, "hello"
"Haan Naina, bolo".
She immediately gauged the sadness in his tone "kya hua Sameer? Gharwalon ne kya kaha? Tum bahut pareshan lag rahe ho?"
Sameer smiled at her concern and how well she knew him and could read the slightest hitch in his voice without needing to see him, thus proving his earlier declarations to his mom absolutely right. He wished she could understand this depth of their relaxationship that it was never platonic even when he was faking friendship.
"Kuch nahi Naina. Wahi jo tumhare ghar par hua."
"Matlab tumhe bhi thappad pada!"
"Thappad ka afsos nahi hai mujhe, par kaash hamare gharwale hume samajh paate." Sensing that she would be saddened, he immediately assured her "par tum chinta karo. Main sabse baat kar loonga aur unhe mana bhi loonga hamare rishte ke liye".
She smiled "I love you Sameer" to brighten up his dull heart and he did the same.
"I love you too Naina, bahut se bhi bahut zyaada". She blushed andvthen they hung up.
Sameer was thinking how to broach the subject again to convince his mother and Mamaji to meet with Naina's family when he heard noises from the hall. The elders were still thinking about the day's happenings and how to pull Sameer put of the mess he had created in his life.
Seeing Sameer standing on the threshold and eyeing them "Sameer?"
He decided to cut the crap and not beat around the bush. "Mummy, Naina ke gharwale hamare rishte ke liye maan gaye hai. Ab aap log bhi please maan jayiye. Woh log aap se milkar hamari baat aage badhana chahte hai".
The Somanis and Maheshwari's were taken aback. "Yeh kya bakwas hai. Na pucha na bataya na baat ki, seedha declare kar diya ki rishta karna hai. Arre woh log hote kaun hai maannewale?", Bobby was the first to react.
"Naina ke gharwale!" Sameer answered his last question.
"Waise toh aapki rai se mujhe koi farak nahi padta, par unhone baat karne ke liye milne ke liye bulaya hai", Sameer clarified further. "Rishta toh aap log hi pakka karenge".
"Nahi Sameer. Uss ladki se tera koi rishta nahi ho sakta. Arre woh ladki..." Vishakha started spewing her vish against Naina again but Sameer stopped her. "Buss Mummy! Yeh kya baar baar woh ladki, mamuli ladki, chantt, yeh sab bolte rehte ho aap log. Uska naam Naina hai aur main bahut pyar karta usse. Woh meri honewali wife aur aapki honewali bahu hai. Toh please thoda izzat se baat kijiye".
Then, he blinked hard and took in a deep breath and clenched and unclenched his fists to reign in his anger. "Chachaji ka phone tha, woh chahte hai ki kal hum sab unke ghar jaaye aur aap sab bade baat kare".
"Ek baar keh diya na. Nahi matlab nahi. Woh ladki tumhare layak nahi hai Sameer, please samjho iss baat ko aur zidd chod do!", Vishakha was adamant.
"Aap kyon nahi samajh rahi hai! Mummy please, please maan jayiye. Naina meri chahat hai, meri zindagi hai, main mar jaunga uske bina. Please maan jayiye. Nanu ne bhi apna aashirwad hume de diya tha. Mujhe mera pyaar de dijiye, iske baad aap se kabhi kuch nahi maangunga", Sameer kneeled at her feet and pleaded with teary eyes, holding her hands".
But before Vishakha had time to melt down and give in to her son's desire, Bobby boomed "Sameer, yeh kya behuda filmy drama hai, tumse ek baar keh diya na...jo nahi ho sakta woh nahi hoga!" He hauled him back to his feet and was about to slap him when Mamaji stopped him "kya ka rahe hai ho Jijaji, jane dijiye, bachcha hai. Maarne se thodi na samaj jaayega".
Sameer gave him muderous looks eye-in-eye with rage boiling his being and eyes spewing the lava of anger.
"Theek hai! Ab tak main sirf yeh kehta raha ki main Naina se pyar karta hoon, par ab aap log dekhenge Sameer ka deewanapan!" He walked away and banged his door shut as it was the only way to show anger at the moment.
Vishakha tried to follow him but Bobby stopped her "Nahi Vishakha, use akela chod do. Aaj hum uski zidd ke samne nahi juke toh apne aap hi uska gussa shaant ho jayega".
In his room:
Sameer was furious and started throwing away things, pushing away the cassettes and books on the table, disrupted the desk shoving one hand furiously such that everything went flying and met with the floor. Of these books, one was his diary, in which, he wrote poems and had a picture of Naina in her beautiful pink salwar suit from Pooja didi's sangeet. He recovered it, kissed it and held to his heart and a teardrop escaped. He was missing her way too much and was desperate to feel her close. He haggardly picked up the phone to dial her number but stopped at the last digit as he knew she would sense his distraught and that would worry her. To assuage missing her and feel her presence, he got out a huge album that held all of her solo pictures. He pulled all of them out and stuck them on the walls in his room. Still there were empty spaces like that void in his heart that his mother's behaviour had left and only she could be his healer. He started writing her name on the walls filling every nook corner and inch. He then hugged the walls and maid hia head on her pictures, closed his eyes and kept murmuring her name, "I love you Naina".
After a while, he turned on his back and splayed with his back to the wall and head resting on it trying to absorb her in every molecule of his being. The gaping hole is his heart still hurt him and he missed her immeasurably. "Tum toh mere dil mein ho Naina, hume koi alag nahi kar sakta", he declared firmly placing his hand on his heart and opened his eyes that met his reflection in the mirror on the opposite wall. His eyes fell on the fruit knife that miraculously still adorned his bedside table. He picked it up and went to the mirror, got rid of his tops and slowly and painfully carved out Naina's name over his heart. Not once did he flinch in pain but smiled through tears and kept chanting her name like a mantra.
In the morning:
"Sameer...." Vishakha came to wake him up since it was well past mid-morning and he hadn't made an appearance yet.
When she knocked the door, it opened easily as it was only banged shut but not locked. She stepped in and the sight that greeted her shocked her from top to toe. The floor of the room was a mess, walls adorned with her name and photos, and Sameer lay sprawled on the bed in only his jeans with bare chest, feet dangling below and surrounded by Naina's and their couple pictures, one hand clutching his wallet to his chest that still held her school picture and he was staring at the ceiling without blinking.
Vishakha roared loudly and moved forward and jerked him upright and slapped hard "Sameer, yeh kya pagalpan hai?"
Then, she noticed his chest and found the tattoo. The blood had dried but the wound was still fresh. Her hands flew to her mouth and Sameer smirked "Abhi toh sirf shuruat hai. Abhi aapne mera pagalpan dekha kahan hai? Naina mere dil mein mere rom rom mein basti hai. Pyar junoon bankar meri ragon mein daud raha hai. Aap chahkar bhi hume alag nahi kar payengi."
Vishakha was so shocked that if in one night he could act so crazy in love, she didn't even want to imagine what destruction he might cause further. When he got up from the bed and started to leave towards the bathroom, she gathered herself and declared "mujhe manzoor hai".
Her words halted Sameer in his tracks that he turned around and gave her a suspicious look. Vishakha came to him and placed a hand on his stubbled cheek "main apni aakhon ke samne apne bete ko khudko barbaad karta nahi dekh sakti. Issliye teri khushi ke liye aur Papa se kiya vaada nibhane ke liye ki tere chehre ki hansi kabhi gayab nahi hone doongi, main Naina ke ghar jane ke liye taiyyar hoon".
Sameer held her hand that was on the cheek and clutched it tightly. Hr was back to his boyish happiness "aap sach keh rahe ho Mummy? Aap jaoge Naina ke ghar?"
Vishakha nodded with misty eyes and he was so elated that he hugged his mother tight. "Thank you Mummy! Main Naina ko phone karke bata deta hoon ki hum shaam ko char baje aa jayenge".
While he was doing that, Bobby stopped Vishakha who had just left Sameer's room "Vishakha, yeh tumne kya kiya? Tum aise use shaiyy dogi toh kaise chalega?" Mamaji and Mamiji had also gathered in the hall now.
"Toh aap hi bataaiye, main kya karti? Uss ladki ki wajah se mera beta khudko chot pahuncha raha hai. Aur main uski zidd ke samne kuch nahi kar pa rahi hoon. Iss rishte se main bhi khush nahi hoon par main apne Sameer ko aise nahi dekh sakti."
He came to her and placed a hand on her shoulder "main samajhta hoon Vishakha, tumhara Maa ka dil pighal gaya. Par tum fikar mat karo, main sab theek kar dunga. Hume kuch aisa karna padega ki woh log khud iss rishte se mana kar de. Fir hamara kaam bhi ho jayega aur Sameer bhi apni zidd chod dega".
Bobby got thinking and turned to Mamiji "Bhabhi, aapki jankari mein koi Panditji hai jo hamare hisaab se kaam kare?"
"Haan, shayad", she started thinking. "Haan, yaad aaya. Woh hum Ganeshji ko dhoodh pilane gaye the, tab waha ek Panditji mile the jo thode paise lekar kaam kar dete hai".
Somani smirked at his brilliance.
