Kuvira
Kuvira sighed softly as she sat on her and Baatar Jr's bed. Su Yin sat behind her, brushing and braiding her hair.
"You alright?" Su asked.
Kuvira nodded.
"Yea," she said. "I was just... thinking."
"About running for office in Ba Sing Se again?"
"I know I'd never win," Kuvira said softly, "but I can't help wanting to try."
Su chuckled softly.
"I say go for it," she said. "But, you need to prove you're the best for their city. Before you get on the ballot, take some time to go in and do community work. Meet some of the people living there. You have to show them that you're a changed person. People respect a leader that respects them."
"Thank you," Kuvira said. "You're right. Baatar and I will go into the city, and spend some time there."
"What am I doing?" her fiance asked, appearing in the doorway.
"We're going to visit Ba Sing Se and help the people there out. We should start in the outer ring."
"I think that's a wonderful idea," Su said. "You should call Korra, too. And Mako and Bolin."
Kuvira shook her head.
"They're busy cleaning up my mess in Republic City," she said. "I'll just take the new recruits with me. I mean, we have what? Three hundred? It'll be good for their training."
"You make me proud," Su told her.
Kuvira slipped into her uniform, then headed for the training grounds, where the new recruits were waiting.
"I have an announcement," she told them. "Today, we're setting out for Ba Sing Se. A good soldier must not only be able to protect people, but also to help them. So, you will join me in Ba Sing Se, to help in the outer ring." The new recruits saluted her, and she saluted them back. "Dismissed."
As the recruits dispersed, Kuvira walked back to Baatar.
"You look scared," he said, touching her cheek.
"I'm walking into a fire," she said. "And it's my job to put it out. These people hate me. Rightly so, after what I did."
She laid her head on his chest.
"They'll come to love you. I just know they will."
"Thank you for always being there for me, Baatar."
