I quickly scrambled across the mushy, sponge-like grass aiming towards the tall lush trees, swaying from side to side as if to shake off the bullets of rain. Through my desperate attempts at gulping down air and rushed footing, I heard a car horn followed quickly by shouting and the hum of an engine.

SPEED UP! I yelled in my head, looking down to glare at my straining legs like it was their fault. Looking back up I willed myself to run faster, chest tight and legs struggling to maintain the speed. As I whizzed through the tree line, everything seemed to get blurry.

Shaking my head to rid of the black spots lingering in my vision I quickly sidestepped a fallen tree but failed to see the tree's roots sticking up from the ground. My foot caught on one of the rootlet's and I crashed to the ground, scratching myself on the broken branches. It was almost impossible to stand up, (due to what I'm assuming is a twisted ankle).

I let out a slight whimper of pain when I braced my self on the fallen tree, pushing all types of nasty nature crap into my wounds. The squish of footsteps on the forest floor was fastly approaching. I-I need to get out of here! I NEED TO GET AWAY! I cautiously but vigorously flipped myself onto my butt, my ankle screaming in protest, and pulled myself to the nearest tree.

As the rain continued to pour down mercilessly, and the wind out for vengeance, I was shivering in my shoes. When the sound of several heavy footsteps fills my ears, I press up against the tree, praying to anyone willing to listen that they wouldn't notice me and move on.

Their steps carried on past my hiding spot. When I couldn't hear them anymore, a huge sigh of relief sprung from my lips. A crunch, and then another, before my left arm was yanked up, ripping my arm out of its socket, as well as a scream from me. I feel hot breath caress my left ear making my neck hair stand on end. The puffs of air hit the side of my face as the man chuckled in amusement, and whispered, "Found you."

 Everything went dark.
