*** Vance's POV***

"Keep dancing." I push the stunning woman with my hip, causing her to circle her hips into my own.

She's gorgeous. Fucking stunning. Not my usual type, at all. But, Jesus if I didn't get a boner when she made her way to the line of my club.

I saw her on the security camera. From the moment her mom car pulled in, I couldn't take my eyes away from her. I couldn't help but stare as she wiped her tears, fanning the moisture from her sad eyes.

There and then, I decided she wasn't leaving my sight.

Why was she crying? Who hurt her? I wanted to track them down, to show them why they shouldn't hurt such a gorgeous creature.

I have a protective streak. That's the dominant in me. I can't sit back and watch someone so fragile be hurt.

She moves her voluptuous curves with ease. No doubt the alcohol had stripped her inhibitions.

"I'm thirsty." She slows down, holding on to me for support. I wrap her in my arms while leading her from the dance floor, over to the bar.

"Hey boss man? She need a cab?" Rex asks as he hands me a bottle of water.

"That won't be necessary." I take the bottle with a nod before handing it over to Karis.

I know her name because that's my job. I know everyone that walks into my club.

"I didn't want water." Karis pushes the bottle back at me after only having taken one sip.

"I don't recall asking what you wanted." I hand the bottle to Rex. He replaces it with a Corona.

I pass the drink to the blonde bombshell. My fingertips push her hair off of her shoulders.

"Thank you." She looks at me with glassy eyes. I smile down on her.

"You are welcome, but I am cutting you off. You have had too much." I give the order with finality.

"I didn't ask you to babysit me, sir." Karis gets snippy.

"That's three." I pull her to me. My fingers tangle my hand in her hair. I yank softly making her look back up at me.

"I warned you sweet Karis." I push my lips up to her neck, ghosting them against her skin.

"Don't know what you think you're doing, but don't." Karis snaps at me.

"I'm simply placing a calming kiss." I skim my nose over her sweaty skin. Her scent lingers when I lift my head from her neck.

"I don't need kisses. Thanks though. I'm going home." Karis pushes the beer into my chest while starting to walk away.

"I have tried to play nice. You're making that difficult." I pull her back to me, a dark chuckle escapes my throat when she lands where she needs to be, my arms.

"I don't want you to play anything. I know you're type." I assure you she knows nothing of my type.

"If you know so much about me, why are you pretending that you're walking away from me." I stroke her chin as I look her in the eyes.

"I'm not sleeping with you. No thanks. I'm not looking for love. I have tasted that sin. It consumed me whole. I don't need nor want anything. I just wanted to get drunk and sleep." Karis gives me pleading eyes. I can hear the tremor in her tone. She had been hurt. I don't like that.

"Let me take you to get some food." I offer gently.

"Do you assume because I'm fat that I am hungry?" She turns and huffs as she pouts.

Anger licks at my veins. The alcohol is doing her no favors. She is robust in the sexiest form imaginable.

"Call yourself that in my presence again. I dare you." I grab her face, pulling her close. I taste her lips without permission. I want to lick those dirty words from her tongue.

"Please don't. I'm not a toy." She whimpers as my tongue leaves her sexy mouth.

"I'm not sure what you're used to. I assure you, I'm not playing with you." I slide my hand down her back, cupping her juicy ass in my hands. I could moan the minute my hands feel the soft tissue kneading in my palms.

"I'm not hungry." She makes no move to leave the cage of my arms. Her body directly contradicts her smart ass mouth.

"Eat anyways." I pull her into my side, walking towards the back exit. I shoot a short text to Rex to let him know I'm out for the night.

"Where are you taking me?" Karis looks around with doe eyes.

"First I'm going to feed you something. That will curb the hangover. Then, I'm going to take you to my place, lay you down in a soft bed and tuck you in. I will wake you in the morning. I will help you back to your minivan." I smirk. I know it's an SUV. I just don't know why she drives that tank, yet.

"Fine. But, don't think I'm fucking you." Karis hisses when I pop her lovely bottom.

"I warned you more than enough. Get in." I help her into my truck. I close the door after helping her fix the seatbelt.

"You keep warning me. But, I don't even know what I'm doing to piss you off." Karis crosses her arms like a temperamental teenager.

"Let's see, Karis." I roll her name off my tongue. "You eluded that you are not beautiful. I don't like lies. Next, you had an attitude. I won't put up with that, at all. Stomping those sexy legs all over my dance floor in a fit wasn't wise. Now, you assume I'm the type of man to expect to get a good fuck for being a gentleman."

"I honestly know you don't want to sleep with someone like me." Karis closes her eyes. Sighing, she lays her head on the window.

I turn my truck off as we arrive in the parking lot of the diner.

"What do you mean? Someone like you?" I ask. She's really irritating me now.

"I'm not exactly a super model. I'm Broken. Dismantled. Shattered. Mangled. You would be wise to forget you met me." She turns away from me as I let my mouth fall open incredulously.

Who hurt her? Why?

I open my door after deciding against taking her inside. I doubt she would be comfortable. I run inside to pay for curbside service instead. I come back out to see her puking outside of my truck.

I run to her side and hold her hair. I run my hand down her back soothingly.

"Sorry." She whispers. She bends over, expelling once again.

"No need for apologies. I expected that." I reach in my console, grabbing a napkin for Karis. I help her back into the truck. I pass her the bottle of water that I grabbed from the club.

Our food comes out. I tip the man before driving off towards my apartment.

We make our way to my floor. I help her get through my door. I take her shoes off and push her towards my suite. I set her down on the bed before going to my closet to grab something she can change into.

"Here put this on." I pass her one of my button ups. I don't have much that isn't formal. This will have to do.

"Can you help me? But, um don't look." She pleads through her eyes. I nod like the liar I can be. I'm fucking looking.

I slip her jeans down, drinking in the full figure that unveils itself. She's right, she isn't a super model. But, she sure could be. Fuck.

I stand her up, I turn her around to unlace her corset. She's wearing some ridiculously sexy lace boy shorts that make me want to sink my teeth into her thick ass.

I release her from the tight top, watching as it slides off of her beautiful skin from the back. She throws her arms over her chest and stands mostly bare before me. I slide my eyes down her backside. She's curvy. Very curvy.

"I won't look. Just give me your arms, one at a time." I'm not lying this time.

I slide my fingertips down her shoulder, walking them to her hand. I gently pull her arm back to slide the shirt over the first arm. I give it back to her. She covers up before handing me her other arm. I do the same with the left and spin her around.

She hides her breast from my sight. I smile softly, looking directly into her eyes while I bend down to start buttoning the shirt from the bottom. When I reach the top three buttons, I realize her large chest is not going to allow me to button them.

Lucky me.

"All done." I whisper the words while I keep eye contact.

"Thank you." She shyly dips her head.

I cup her cheek and run my thumb over her lips.

I back away, pushing her down softly onto the bed.

"Let's eat." I set up a bed tray for her. I place a coke along with her breakfast out on the tray.

I make my way to sit beside her before starting to unwrap our food.

"You are nicer than you should be." She softly talks as if she doesn't know if it's okay to speak at all.

"How should I be?" I ask. I grab a fork, picking up a bite of waffle before placing it at her lips. Karis opens her mouth with a smile while accepting my offering.

"I don't know. I suppose you should be angry." Karis swallows before speaking.

"For what?" I eat my own bite before setting up
the next for her to consume.

"I have been a handful." She waits again for more food. I whisper good girl.

"I have two hands." I chuckle as she blushes. That's a precious site.

"Want to talk about what you said earlier?" I ask encouragingly. I want to know why she deems herself so low.

"I'm just working through some stuff. Don't pay me any attention." She waves me off quickly.

"I want to pay attention to you." I wipe her mouth of the syrup that has stuck to her lip. I honestly want to suck it off. But, that's for another time.

"For tonight. It gets old." She cynically excuses me.

"Apparently, you have been mistreated." I grab the tray and remove it. We have eaten all we will.

"I wasn't abused." She quickly denies.

"I didn't mean to insinuate that you were." I lay her down, pulling the sheets up over her lap.

"You can sit next to me. I don't mind. I'm not quite ready to sleep." She pats the bed beside her.

"Let me change." I walk to the bathroom to change into my pajama bottoms and my t-shirt. I come out to see Karis is staring at the ceiling. I can see the tear rolling down her face.

"Don't cry." I whisper as I slip into the sheets beside her. I wrap my arm around her shoulder and pull her down to my chest.

"Alcohol." She mumbles.

That could be a perfect explanation if I hadn't seen her cry before the liquor and beer.

"Talk to me." I run my fingers through her hair.

"Not much to say. I got a divorce." She cuddles up to me. I relish in the comfort I am able to provide.

"That sounds traumatizing. I'm sorry." I console her. I don't know anything about marriage. But, I heard divorce isn't easy.

"No more than the marriage." She yawns, closing her eyes.

"That's awful. You deserve better. His loss." I smile while I close my eyes.

"Doesn't feel like it." She wanes off her words as she falls to sleep.

I assure you. His loss. Whoever lost this angel, he is a fool.

I snuggle down for the night to let sleep find me. It's been a long time since anyone occupied this particular bed. I'm not upset that she is here, in my arms.
