Happiness~Jack Vessalius
You were his happiness,
You were is everything.
Until you were snatched away from him.
You were betrothed.

(Jack's POV)
"Lady (Y/N) is coming today."
"What?" My heart suddenly started to pound as I stood quickly, hearing my chair scrape against the wood floor.
My butler just bowed his head, leaving.
"She's finally coming?" I asked, even though he was already out the door.
I slumped back into my chair, my golden hair falling in my face.
"She's finally coming back, after all these years..."

(Your POV)
The carriage rumbled back and forth, knocking me briefly into my husband.
I was now 18, betrothed to him two years ago.
"Do you think it's wise to come here? You remember his reaction when you got betrothed to me.." James whispered into my ear, squeezing my hand.
"I... I don't know. I feel like I should at least visit him. Let him know it's official that I'm with you now."
"Yes.. I guess so." James said, sighing.
"I'll be alright, just stick to me."

(Jack's POV)
I changed into my favorite jacket, fixing my ascot.
I stared into the mirror, remembering two years ago...
The memory I hadn't tried to think of in ages...
(Y/N) had told me of her betrothal the minute after our last kiss.
Yes, we had been lovers.
But before that we had been best friends.
Neighbors.
Then roommates.
After her parents death five years ago, I had accepted her into my household.
It had taken off from there.
Until the day she met James.
We had gone for a walk together.
I had left her for a moment.
But that moment was all it took for her to find and fall in love with him.
After another year, (Y/N) finally told me she was engaged to him.
She hadn't even told me she was seeing him.
I had wondered why she had been getting distant with me.
(Y/N)... (Y/N) had been my happiness.
She had been everything to me.
And she stabbed me, right in the heart with her acts...
~~~~~
I walked down the long path to the edge of the mansion, watching the carriage stop in front of me, and dainty foot visible before (Y/N) stepped out fully.
She had grown up.
Beautiful, perfect.
And no longer mine.
(Y/N)'s (H/C) hair shone in the sunlight, my fingers itching to touch it once more.
The man followed her, like her shadow almost.
Tall, lean, and dark shadows under his eyes.
He was handsome, and looking nice and pleasant .
(Y/N) smiled sweetly, bringing the wonderful relishing happiness to me again as she ran forwards, hugging me tightly.
My arms wrapped around her form, burying my face into her soft hair.
She drew away, in witch I felt was too soon, drawing back to the side of James.
"Jack, meet my husband, James."
My heart felt like it had been the smashed the second the word husband came from her lips.
"H-Husband?" I asked coolly, my voice quivering without my control.
"Yes." She said, a worried look crossing her face.
"I thought maybe we could stay here for abit for the holiday. We were always good friends weren't we Jack?"
"Yes. Always good friends." I said, taking deep breaths before leading them into the mansion.
The tall oak door closed behind them, loudly.
James.... he must go.
(Your POV)
I walked back and forth in the room provided by Jack.
It was nighttime.
And James hadn't come back from fetching the last of his luggage.
I had been feeling leery by the expression from Jack during dinner.
The more James talked to him, the more he had started to glare.
The more he had started to fidget.
The more had had started to not act like the cheerful happy Jack.
And it scared me.
To the very bone.
I froze in my tracks when I heard the front door close loudly, echoing through out the mansion.
I quickly ran to the door, opening it and running down the dark hall.
Jack was nice.
No way he'd do anything mean or awful.
I knew I was worrying about nothing.
I ran down the hall, but pausing when I heard the last door close.
I stopped walking.
Should I ask Jack where James went?
I had thought it was Jack coming back, but if he went in that room, it must have been Jack.
I crept to his room, seeing a bright light underneath the door. I knocked sharply, waiting for him to answer before going in.
I literally shoved my fist into my mouth to keep from screaming bloody murder. A body was laying on the bed, partially covered by a large wool blanket it was wrapped in.
"J-James?" I whispered, my heart feeling like was going leap out of my chest as I fell to the ground, laying my head on the foot of the bed, starting to cry.
Who... who had done this to him? And why was he in Jack's room?
"JAMES!" I had abandoned keeping silent, and let lose my sorrow at his death, a steady stream of tears rolling down my face.
I hadn't heard the soft footsteps growing closer to me, the hand on my shoulder before someone turned me around gently, hugging me close.
I didn't think. I needed comfort, no matter where it came from.
I didn't notice til a minute later, who exactly was hugging me.
It was Jack, himself, his face, a smudge of blood across his cheek.
A bloody knife in his belt.
"Y-You, NO... NO WAY!" I screamed, pulling back from him, trying to break free from his grasp.
"Aw, you shouldn't have seen this. I'm sorry I didn't cover it up better." He said, ignoring my yells and knocking me over the head harshly.
I heard him say "I'm sorry." before I blacked out.
I woke up in a brightly lit room, on a comfy red chaise.
The memory from last night didn't kick in until I spotted Jack's head on my lap, him kneeling on the ground at my side. I sat up straight, pushing him away onto the floor.
His eyes shot open, showing their brilliant green color.
"Ah, (y/N), your awake. Please, smile for me dear." He said, happily, cupping my face.
"NO I WON'T JACK, HOW COULD YOU!" I screamed, wriggling out of his grasp.
Jack's face saddened and he stood, looking down at me.
"I thought you'd understand. I wanted you to smile for me again. I wanted you to be mine, like you were before."
"Our relationship is over! It was only for abit!"
"I thought you loved me."
"I do love you, but I always felt like you were my brother!"
Jack's face grew cold, unfeeling, unmoving.
"Why. Won't. You. Smile." He said, jerkily, grabbing my chin.
"YOU'RE WERE MY HAPPINESS! YOU WERE MY EVERYTHING TIL HE STOLE YOU FROM ME!"
"Stop it!"
"No. I won't. Not till you except that you are my happiness. My everything. Your mine."
Jack pressed his lips against mine, forcing me back into the chaise.
"Mmf! Get off!"
"You'll bring me happiness once more (Y/N) no matter what."
