Lunalight, eh? The old mystical creatures that most beings knew nothing about. . . I am one of them? Why? How? What did I do?
My fingertips had become numb, as I sat on the small, wooden stool, near the fireplace, my eyes gazing at the red flames as they twirled and danced across the burning chunks of wood. They were beautiful . . . somehow reminded me of those shows, where humans wear red dresses, and dance around in big, luxurious halls. I was alone now. . . Alone in this empty room in the House of Lamentation. I could not sense Luke's aura. The shadow souls had feed slightly on my small magic energy, leaving me a bit hazy. A flame rose, and floated out of the fireplace, pulling me out of my thoughts. Was overthinking too much causing me to hallucinate? I reached out to the small ball of fire, it slowly shifted the closer my hand came, until my fingers grazed its surface . . . but there was no pain. . . no burning sensation. . . it was like touching the feathers of an angel . . . soft and warm. In an instant the flame exploded into a million burning petals, floating around me like snowflakes. For a second, they froze, before spinning around me. The other flames in the fireplace tagging along. It felt like standing inside a burning tornado, and it took me a second to notice the petals merges into groups to form, dancing human-like figures . . . or so I thought, until I spotted the tails swaying from their lower backs, and the animal-like ears poking from the top of their heads. They danced, and leaped into the air so naturally, that you could mistaken them for real humans, and not just flames floating in thin air. Furthermore, they laughed as they danced around me, as if . . . Alive! Were these the Lunalight warriors? one of the figures inched closer to me, and stretched out its hand to me. My eyes dance back to his emotionless face. Why does something seem familiar about him? Just when our fingers were about to touch, the room's door opened. The flames let out a loud shriek, before vanishing into a rain of ashes, and just like that . . . they were gone. "So they brought you here," I knew that voice, but it was now filled with caution and a bit of fear from the unknown." Are you listening?!"
I slowly took small steps and tuned around to face the piercing emerald eyes gazing at me. He must have sensed the strange aura around me that was taking time to vanish, because his eyes widened for a second. "I see your better . . ." I spoke my throat feeling a bit hollow as I spoke. " . . . What was your name again?"
It was easy to sense he wanted to pick an argument with me, but I was still tired and dazed from what happened the whole day. Quite funny thinking about it now, from walking in the streets of the Celestial Realm; to entering Devildom; getting stuck under a desk with two odd demons; then getting my energy partly sucked away, by shadow souls; discovering I am a chosen Lunalight warrior; to witnessing flames shift into human figures, and dance around the room. I moved my attention to the demon and sighed. What's the point of all of this? I rarely spoke to demons, mostly despised them, and yet here I am wondering what secret the being standing before me holds. "Look, I just what to know what you were doing today in that hallway," there was no logical reply I could think of to give the blond demon.
" I don't know . . . Personally, I thought it was your doing," I spoke not allowing any hesitation or uncertainty to drip into my words. " I know only know so little."
The air seemed heavy and moist, that I found myself struggling to stay another second in the room, and began making-my way out. That is until the demon forcefully grasped my arm, and locked his green orbs on my own brown ones. "A little knowledge is better than nothing," he hissed into my ear, but I was able to sense the smirk he was fighting to reveal in front of me." So explain . . . Everything."
"The biggest mistake an angel's familiar can make is to trust a demon," I calmly replied, as I reached out for one of my daggers, but stopped upon noticing his shoulders shiver as a half-hearted chuckle escape his lips.
He let go of me and brushed his fingers through his hair, before maintaining himself once again. "But your no longer a familiar . . .Are you?"
"Cut the crap, your jokes are getting boring," I replied furiously, my grip on the hilt of my dagger tightening, but I could not bring myself to pull it out of its sheath, and slit his tongue.
He must have noticed my hesitation, because his smirk faded. "Guess you surprisingly still are a familiar after all, or else your would have at least grazed me . . . Too bad, I would not have mind having a kitty-kitty like you in secret."
My glare did not leave his eyes, until he placed his finger against my lips, tracing them as if he were in a trance. His eyes suddenly became plain and distant . . . Lifeless. What is he doing? A split personality? I took a step back, but he quickly grabbed my hand, lifted it to his lips. I wanted to pull out my dagger, but being a familiar forbid me from attacking anyone, unless I was attacked first. "I am conscious you know, but your. . . your magic . . . It's overwhelming . . ."
Crazy. Crazy. . . Crazy! This guy was not in his right mind. Then I felt it, flames. . .Dancing at the tips of my fingers, and watched them igniting. How? Being a familiar should have kept me unable to weld any powerful magic, but that does not matter anymore, because I had bigger problems now. I looked back at the demon, but he still seemed unaware of what he was doing. . . Just like what happened in the hallway. He slipped one arm around my waist, and cupped my cheek with the other. " Yuna," he mumbled, his eyes only halfway open, as his face inched closer to mine. " What are you?"
Now!
I focused all my attention on the flames in my hand, before thrusting it between us, causing a small explosion to erupt, sending both of us flying in opposite directions; while leaving our bodies to thrust against the smooth, concrete walls of the small hallway outside the room. That was definitely far from normal. Little did I know, using that much magic, had caused me to shift into my cat form. I stood up, and started running through the thin smoke lingering in the hallway. Finding Luke and Simeon was my first priority, and probably my people I could trust to help me though this. That emerald eyed demon is most likely going to come looking for me, so my time is quite limited.
I dashed though the staircases and halls, but it was no use; the mansion was one large maze in my eyes; that led me to dead ends, or endless hallways. It felt as if I had been running for hours and hours, with nothing but my heavy breathing to be heard. After a while, my hurried running had shifted into a slow stroll, with me gasping to breath. I licked my aching paws, before continuing my walk though the hallways, until a large figure blocked the end of the hallway, his eyes narrowed at me, as I took a few steps back, only to bump into a familiar white-haired demon, Mammon. "So Satan was right, carrying you is really like holding a big, fuzzy, cotton ball," he chuckled, as he-held me close to his chest.I swiftly slipped out of his embrace, and made a quick dash to the top of a nearby grandfather clock. "Eh?! Why are you running away?!" the obnoxious demon complained, which I found a bit childish and unnecessary. "Whatever, I prefer dogs over cats anyway."
I eyed him, as he leaned against one of the hallway's giant pillars, before turning my attention to the green eyed demon approaching me. If only I could remember his name . . . Was it Stan or Saten? "Did you really forget my name?" he smiled hopelessly, his eyes slightly softening, but I did not let it get to head. "It's Satan, the fourth born demon among my seven brothers. . . "
"You know you look like a joke, when you take to cat," Mammon interrupted, walking over to his younger sibling, and patting him on the shoulder. "Just grab her or something."
What is up with this moron? Does he even think, before he speaks about me like some pitiful kitten? I jumped off the clock, and landed on his shoulder, digging my nails deep into his RAD jacket in order not to be flung into thin air. The tan demon panicked instantly, as fell backwards, as I attempted to disfigure his face. "Come on! I did not mean that in a bad way!" he tried to reason, as he barely held me an inch away from his face, causing his hands and arms to suffer the wrath of my claws."Satan! A little help would be appreciated!"
"Yeah, the only thing you will ever be grateful is money mammon," the blond demon stated, as he gleefully watched me harass his older brother.
"Mammmooonnn!" I flinched at the sudden growl of a deep voice, and accidentally shift into my human form, and plop my face against Mammon's chest.
A small moan left my slightly parted lips, as I lifted my head, only to lock eyes with a bright, red, blushing Mammon. "Ow my, so familiars aren't as innocent as they seem," I was able to hear Asmodeus coo giddily, which caused me to jumped off Mammon in an instant, avoiding any eye contact with the demon lying on the floor with a flustered expression.
I would be lying if I said I did not have a faint, pink blush on my face.It was complete and utter silence, as Lucifer scornfully glared at me and Mammon intensely, that I would even flinch at the slightest sound, until Satan decided to break the tense atmosphere, with a heavy sigh. An awfully, suspicious smile crossed Asmodeus' lips, who had been standing behind Lucifer for a while. "I really don't want to spend the rest of my day doing absolutely nothing . . ." Satan paused, as he rubbed the back of his neck wearily, before locking his green orbs on me. "Me and Yuna have a few things to discuss anyway, so we will be in my room if you want us."
With that said, he placed a hand on my shoulder, and whispered," Trust me, when I tell you you don't want to hear Lucifer lecture you for hours and hours."
At the moment, I have no idea why I took his word for it, even though he still had that trickster smile smudged on his face. "Stop glaring," he roguishly whispered, slightly tightening his grip on my shoulder.
I could not help, but role my eyes at his words. Taking him seriously was a bit agitating, and close to impossible, maybe, because it was a bad habit of mine to underestimate demons. "You sure can put an act to cover yourself up," I commented, glancing up at the blond haired demon.
His smile fell, only to switch into a slim, straight line. "I totally forgot your kind can see the truth," he replied, a dash of sorrow and despair drowning in his eyes, before quickly vanishing in an instant. "By the way, I heard Beel and Belphie saying your going to be staying here for a while. Why so?"
"I have a hunch why, but then again, just ike I said before, I only know so little," I mumbled, with a heavy sigh.
Satan's green eyes seemed to light up for a second, before clasping my hand, and breaking into a run across the hallway, but that was not only what stunned me . . . his smile . . . It was eager, determined, and genuine. What in heaven's name could make a demon smile like that?!
