Whose Horse Was This?
Azure's POV
Petra, and I made sure no one got left behind, and Glimmer helped the people in the safest direction. A bot took aim at Glimmer, but Bow shot it with an arrow, making the bot short out. A soldier came up behind Bow, and I threw myself up, and grabbed his arm, twisting it behind him, and kicking his down. I winced as I looked down at my ankle and steadied myself. Bow helped me down from the roof as the last people made it through.
"I think that's the last of them." He said, and Petra nodded coming out of the last building.
"South side's clear, we should go."
Glimmer however did not move.
"Glimmer lets go." Bow said grabbing her, and we bolted.
A skiff blocked out path and shot at us. I elbowed Bow before we got to close, pushing him down an alley.
"I didn't know active duty would be this... active." I joked as we ran.
"That'd be funny we weren't doing this right now." Glimmer said.
Diving behind a few piles of debris, Bow gasped.
"What are we going to do?" He asked.
"There's nothing we can do Bow." Glimmer sobbed. "You're almost out of arrows, and I'm almost out of magic." She said.
Petra, and I kept watch, making sure we were not discovered.
"You can't say that. You're Glimmer. You throw yourself into every fight no matter how hopeless." Glimmer groaned and shook her head.
"Ugh, every decision I've made in the last day had almost gotten us killed." She whimpered. "My mom was right, I'm not ready for this yet." She said.
Petra, and I ducked down as a Skiff flew down the alley, it missed us, but barely.
"No. You're not giving up now. I'm sorry your mom doesn't see how strong you are, and that's her loss." He said, and I placed a hand on their shoulders.
"You guys can do this, and you don't have to do it alone." I said, and Glimmer nodded her eyes glistening with what was to be tears.
"You're right." She said standing.
"We need Adora." Petra cocked her head.
"What now?" She asked at the same time Bow asked, "We do?" Glimmer nodded, and Bow furrowed his brows.
"Didn't she sell us out to the Horde?" Glimmer shook her head.
"I don't think she did, we need to find her. I think she can help us... just trust me." I nodded, and Petra put her hand on my shoulder reassuringly.
Bow smiled, and we jumped up.
A Horde Solider came at us as soon as we left the ally. I grabbed his arm and kneed him in the gut. Petra then grabbed him and threw him off. Looking around the whole city was on fire. The horse Adora had seen was in a panic, and Bow ran over to him, swinging up onto his back. He grabbed Glimmer, and she mounted behind him. Petra shifted, and I clambered onto her back, wielding my axe as we headed off. I stayed low to Petra's fury back as we ran, giving her no drag, and keeping up nicely with Bow, and Glimmer.
"I've got her sent, she headed to the north side, that's where The Horde first attacked." I patted her back letting her know I got it.
I looked up to Bow and shouted, "North side!"
He nodded, following Petra's lead.
We got to the North side soon enough and found Adora on the ground with a cat like soldier standing over her. Glimmer fired a ball of light into her face, and she slunk away. Petra leapt onto the tank, and I managed to help her bash it up.
"This. Will. Never. Fire. Another. Shot! Gah!" I cried, and Petra howled savagely.
Glimmer jumped down, and helped Adora up, as Bow fired one of his net arrows at the cat girl. She lay on the ground growling, and hissing. She aimed a slick black weapon at Adora. Petra threw herself in front of them as she fired a shot. The green light hit Petra, who convolved before stumbling. Glimmer teleported Adora away, and the feline called worriedly.
"Adora!"
I had been thrown from Petra, and I stood over her making sure she was alright. She struggled but was able to get up. The girl ripped herself out of the net, and threw herself at Bow, who was completely out of arrows. I threw Bow my axe to defend himself with, but I left myself, and Petra vulnerable.
I had to shift... it was our only option right now, and I really needed everyone to live right now. I shook out my arms, and legs, and closed my eyes. My bones stretched, and reformed as I shifted. My ankle burned, and it traveled up my leg until I knew I was done. I opened my eyes, and pressed my body against Petra, helping her up. I bared my teeth and stepped on my bad foot. When I found I could not find its footing I knew that it was not going to work right now... maybe not ever.
As soon as Petra was up, I saw Bow stumbling to the horse. He was hurt. We ran over to him and created a small protective barrier. Bots came up from every direction, and I saw no way out. Petra bared her teeth, and I saw the familiar flashing light. It was coming from a bot. I looked away, and Petra pressed her head against mine.
"Azzy? I- I think this might be the end of the line... for us." I did not say or do anything.
Tanks rolled in, and Horde soldiers came in close.
"I was an honor serving with you guys." Bow said clutching his bow.
I moved to stand on his right side, while Petra stood on his left. I braced myself for the fire, the death, but instead I felt the tug in my chest, and then a bright light shone over us. Squinting I cocked my head as a figure stepped towards us. My eyes widened, despite the brightness, and Petra barked excitedly.
"It's the scary lady in the cape!" I nodded and watched.
She adjusted her grip on the sword and drove into the ground with force. The ground shuddered, and electricity snapped in the air. The ground rolled sending Tanks, and bots off their feet, and drained their power, shutting everything down. Adora stood, taking her sword out of the ground, and looked down at bow, and us.
She had no expression on her face, as if the sword had taken over her act. A Tank turned to us, pointing its nozzle at Bow, and Bow stepped back. Adora shot past us and leapt into the air cutting the nozzle off. With a second slice she drew the Horde soldier out, and he jumped away just as the Tank exploded. A few of the soldiers ran at us. Petra leaped forward, grabbing his arm in her jaws. She whirled around and flung him away.
Diving into the fight, I leapt onto a tank, and yanked the hatch open with my jaws. The person inside screamed as I grabbed them by the back of their uniform and threw them.
Glimmer ran into the field, and I protected her.
"Bow, are you okay!" She gasped hugging Bow.
"Is that Adora?" Bow asked staring at Adora.
"It's She-Ra." Glimmer smiled.
Adora stood amidst the smoke, and fire. The officers called for retreat, and people ran screaming. Adora looked back at us and stepped forward. The glow around her disappeared, and she looked around in shock, as if she could not comprehend what had happened. She fell to her knees and looked up at a plume of smoke. I followed her gaze to the girl standing in the cloud. It was the cat.
"Catra?" Adora called. She looked shocked, and afraid before her eyes hardened as she turned tail and ran.
Adora extended a hand but she made no move to follow. Bow tackled her in a hug, and they lay on the ground.
"You did it!" He squealed childishly.
"I did?" she asked, and is shifted back to a human, and Petra walked me over. I could not feel anything but pain in my whole leg now. I decided to keep a happy face on, and not spoil the moment.
"You saved us, you saved everyone." Glimmer said, and Adora chuckled as Bow got up.
"I did it! I turned against The Horde!" She gasped eyes going wide with fear.
"I turned against The Horde. Why did I do that? I can't go back, where am I supposed to go!?" Adora asked, snapping up, and shaking Bow.
"Hey, hey... it's okay, you're with us now." Glimmer said kneeling down and putting a hand on her shoulder.
"So come on, let's go home." Glimmer said offering a hand to Adora. Adora took it with a smile and stood.
Bow looked like he could barely contain his excitement.
"Best Friends Squad!" He cheered as we walked away.
Petra looked at my leg and sniffed it worriedly. She looked up at me with wide eyes, and I looked away.
"Let's Figure this out when we get back to Bright Moon." I said, and she nodded.
I swung my numb leg over her back, and she stood, carrying me beside the group.
"Wait, who's horse was this?"
