Ugh Catra!
Azure's POV
"Okay, we'll split up to cover the most ground.
"Bow, Adora, and I will go east. Perfuma, and Mermista you take Azure, and Go west. Faust you can pick your team." Glimmer said as she walked up, and down the line we formed.
I felt myself deflate a little, but I was okay to be away from Bow for an hour or so. I mean we have been spending a lot of time together, so I assumed most people took brakes to make sure they did not seem to clingy. I shook my head, to clear my focus, and looked ahead. My axe in hand.
"I'll go with Swift Wind to cover the sky; we can spot all the bots nearby." Faust said, and Bow stepped out.
"And Remember, we want an intact bot." Bow specified.
"Yeah sure, what if it's just a little waterlogged." Mermista asked cheekily.
"And also covered in ferns that secrete corrosive poison." Perfuma piped up.
"Or what if it's totally smashed by my ice hammer!" Everyone flinched as Frosta appeared, Faust, and I however had known that Frosta was tailing us since Bright Moon.
"Frosta! You're supposed to be defending the castle with Netossa, and Spinerella." Glimmer groaned and walked up to Frosta.
"I know I disobeyed orders, but in my defense those orders were wrong. You need me here." Frosta said boldly, and I looked towards Faust awkwardly.
"But you can't just run off whenever you want!" Glimmer argued back.
"But I did! And I am here now, and I'm not going back." Frosta said simply with a smile.
Glimmer sighed and tried to compose herself. "Fine, you can be in Mermista, and Perfuma's patrol." Glimmer said, and started to walk away, but Frosta stepped towards her.
"I'm coming with you." Glimmer whirled and leaned in close.
"Don't Push your luck." She growled and walked off. I waved to Bow, and Adora. I pressed my forehead to Faust's, and we parted.
We pushed through the woods, and any chance I got, I would stop, and listen. I was able to hear the other for a mile or so as we drifted in different directions, but then it got quiet.
"So, wouldn't it be faster if we, like, rode you?" Mermista asked, and I shook my head.
"Can't shift." I said simply and kept walking.
"Why not?" Frosta asked, appearing in front of me. I stalled and moved around her.
"I'm still healing. We're a little more fragile than you humans." I added, and Perfuma Walked next to me.
"You have a lot of negative energy, maybe if you thought healing thoughts you'd turn back into a wolf." She wondered happily.
I stopped and sighed before turning a bit. "We veered off course a bit." I said to change the subject, and I moved quickly.
"Wow, moody." Mermista said, and I looked back at them.
"I can hear you." I said before walking again. We reached started into the trees for a better look about, and I calmed down a bit.
"Weird." Perfuma said looking around. "I don't see any bots." I looked at her and nodded.
"Maybe they stalled?" I pondered hopefully, but my thoughts were interrupted by a loud blaring sound. I whirled eastward and saw something rise above the canopy then fall. "That's Bow, Glimmer, and Adora!" I said and leapt to the next tree.
"Hurry, they could be hurt!" Perfuma said, and I looked around as we headed out.
"Wait, we're one short. Where's Frosta?" I asked, but Mermista pointed east. "Hurry!" I gasped as the situation Dawned on me.
We rushed through the forest, and I hacked at the icicles sticking out towards us. It was all a blur. Ice, wood, leaves, branches. We ran like our lives depended on it, and some possibly did. But something came barreling towards us. I screeched to a halt next to Perfuma, and Mermista. We stared up at the gigantic shiny new bot. It ran a scan over us, and the picked-up speed, and stepped over us. I brandished my axe, but I relaxed a bit in shock, and stared after them.
"That's new." Mermista said. There was a crash a way off, and I jogged over to see Glimmer, and Frosta in a heap.
"Frosta, Glimmer." I yelped and planted my axe in the ground before checking them out. Nothing major, a few scratches is all.
"Oh, there you are, we've been looking everywhere for you." Perfuma said, riding a vine down.
"Yeah, everywhere." Mermista droned, also appearing on the scene.
"That was incredibly stupid! You could have gotten hurt or gotten one of us hurt!" Glimmer snapped at Frosta as they stood.
"I was just trying to help!" Frosta snapped back.
"This is serious, not a game. You need to stop getting in our way!" Glimmer burst, then froze with the shock of her own words. Tears welled in Frosta's eyes, and she moved away sniffing.
"Frosta wait!" Glimmer called after her, but Frosta ran off.
"Ouch." Mermista deadpanned, and I elbowed her.
"The Horde's bots are too fast, and too smart. We'll never be able to catch one, I thought I could help." Bow said as He, and Adora trudged towards us. "I thought I could be the rebellion's tech master, but that was obviously a dumb idea." Bow said and wiped a tear from his eye.
This had clearly meant a lot to him from the beginning, but I had not realized all the stress he felt.
"It wasn't. You're the only one that came up with a real plan." I said, walking up to him, and placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Without it, we'd still just be reacting to the bots. We need to stop the Horde from, manipulating us. So, let us all put our heads together." Adora said, and Bow looked down.
"Those bots weren't interested in the woods. They only defended themselves long enough to get away." Bow pointed out, and Mermista cocked a brow.
"So, attacking us wasn't their mission." She said.
"And they all ran off in the same direction." Swift Wind added, While Faust nodded.
"So, whatever their after is that way!" Perfuma said.
"There's nothing in that direction except..." Faust trailed off and met Adora's gaze.
"The beacon! I know where the bots are going, and I have an idea on how to stop them! Frosta, do you think you can- Where's Frosta?" Adora trailed off, looking around for our smallest companion.
Everyone looked to Glimmer, who looked down bashfully. "I'll go find her..." she said, and disappeared...
The bots were quickly approaching the temple, and we hid strategically around the temple. I could see Glimmer, and Frosta behind the bots as they tramped in. Frosta pressed her hand to the ground, and a tin sheet of glimmering ice spread across the ground. The four bots shuddered, and practically danced over the ice.
"Ice of you to drop in!" Frosta giggled, and Glimmer quickly teleported away with Frosta as the bot shot a laser at their faces.
Adora slammed her mace into the side of the bot and shouted towards us. "Switch things up, keep them guessing!" She called, and her mace morphed into a coffee mug.
"We just need one bot, take the others out!" Bow reminded us and fired three arrows.
Two made their marks, while the third ducked. Perfuma used her magic to wrap up the bot, and Mermista injected it with a jet of water, and the thing burst apart. The second bot Faust, and I charged. Faust shifted, and I leapt off his back, and onto the dish of the bot. I pulled back my axe and embedded it in its head. With a twist I ripped the thing out, and I twisted away, landing on the other side, on Faust's back. He shook his ruff, and I slid off.
"Bow look, I got one!" Adora called. I glanced over to see her standing on top of a functioning bot. There was a sound, small at first, but it got louder. If was a self-destruct sequence!
"Adora! Get away from it!" Bow called, realizing what I had just moments ago. My fangs sharpened as I felt the danger closing in. The bot exploded, and Adora flew over my head, and landed next to Bow in a heap.
"What just happened?" She groaned sitting up.
"It looks like the bots can self-destruct." Bow noted solemnly.
"Ugh, Catra." Adora spat. I saw Glimmer teleport away from the bot, and its face start to flash the warning color of red.
"We can't let that oneself destruct!" Bow cried, and Faust shifted back to human.
"Everyone together!" Adora hollered. I linked hands with Faust, and he swung me quickly before he hurled me at the bot. I grabbed its leg of the way, and turned it belly up for a moment. Mermista smirked at Frosta.
"Are you ready ice princess?" She said and lifted the bot up to the side of the tower with a stream of water.
Frosta lifted her hands, and the water froze instantly. Perfuma waved her hands, and she lifted Bow up to the beeping. He opened the side, and there was a moment of intensity before he held up a piece, and the beeping stopped. Bow cried triumphantly, and I pumped my fist, and side hugged Faust who was cupping his mouth, and howling. I joined in with my own howl, laughing in-between breaths.
"Look!" Perfuma gasped and pointed. I turned my gaze and gaped in awe as green flooded my vision. Ferns, and a variety of floral plants, and vines serenely bloomed, and blossomed all over the temple.
"Whoa did we do that?" Frosta asked as Perfuma crouched next to a rose.
"All of us, working together." She confirmed with a happy smile. She threw herself at the nearest person, which happened to be Mermista, and hugged her. Faust hugged me tightly, and I then leapt into the group hug, with Bow, and Adora.
"Personal space." Mermista droned, and we all stood upright again.
"Time to go home?" I asked hopefully, and we all turned to face the bot.
"Yeah, as soon as we figure out how to get this thing out of the ice." Glimmer grinned...
