Shadow Weaver

Azure's POV

I jerked awake at the sound of shouting, splashing, and sputtering. The smell of fear was heavy with panic in the air, and I saw Glimmer floundering in the water a moment before shooting up. Adora was shouting, and I could barely make out her form in the fog. Glimmer climbed out after her. Noah already with her holding up his hands to calm her.

"Help!" Adora called to no one in particular.

I got out along with Bow and hurried over.

"Adora?" I asked.

"It's okay, just let her have some space." Noah was saying.

Adora lowered her sword and looked around frantically.

"Shadow-weaver is here, I saw her!" Adora informed us, and I cocked my head.

"The spooky lady from the Fright Zone?" I asked, and Adora nodded wildly.

"Adora, no one else is here." Bow said, and Noah used my towel from the ground to fan away the mist.

It was true, I did not see anything, but I could feel, and smell something. The sent was unlike anything I had smelled before, it smelled like nothing in this place that smelled of a beautiful something.

"You brought your sword in here?" Bow asked placing one finger on the rising tip and lowered it.

"Are you okay, what happened?" Bow asked, and guided her to a carved stone bench, and sat her down.

"Shadow-weaver as here in the grotto, she was in sorcerer's hall too. I saw her shadow on the floor." Adora gasped for breath, and I crouched down on the floor, inspecting the undisturbed damp stone floor.

The smell of nothing was spreading.

"What are you talking about? Who is Shadow-Weaver?" Glimmer asked, and I listened intently while I searched the room.

"Shadow weaver raised me in the Horde. She taught me how to read, tie my boots, and how to subvert the enemy, and be victorious in battle." Adora said holding up her fists in reference.

"Okay, sure, mom stuff." Glimmer noted, and Adora shook her head.

"No. Commanding officer stuff... and mom stuff." Adora said slouching.

"Adora she isn't here. She was never here. It's not possible." Glimmer sighed, fear for her friend full in her voice.

"But you don't know what she's capable of." Adora said, defeated.

"Sounds like this Shadow-Weaver really did a number on you growing up. But it's okay, you got away from her." Bow assured her, giving her a hug.

"Do you want to try something else? We could get massages or find you something to hit. If that would work better." Bow offered.

"No, it's okay, I'm okay, I think I need to be alone, and clear my head." Adora said, and I furrowed my brow.

"Are you sure?" I asked, and she nodded.

"Yeah." I bent down and pressed my forehead against hers.

"Petra says this helps." I explained and stood up.

"Let us know if you need anything." Noah said, and Adora nodded. We walked out with Bow, and Glimmer.

We stood in the hall a moment, and I wrinkled my nose.

"Something has been in there; I can smell it." I said, and Bow looked at me wide eyed.

"Really? How?" He asked. Had he honestly forgotten, well maybe he did not think so much of it. I put my hands to my head, trying to resemble my wolf ears.

"Woof." I deadpanned, face expressionless.

"I think Adora has lost it. Did you see her in there? She's going nuts." Glimmer sighed. I shook my head.

"Noah, and I are going to look at the lunar Lenses, maybe they'll have writings about Wolf Protection spells." I mumbled as we walked away.

"Maybe Bow, and I will get some massages, and meet you there." Glimmer said, and I nodded, looking at Bow for a split second, and Noah gently pulled me along.

After we dressed, we headed through Mystacor. It was not long before we entered the dome, and I examined crystal, after crystal. Lavender shaded lens, after lens. Nothing.

"It mentions a hidden source of power in our district." Noah chuckled.

"Does it say Prince, and Princess too?" I giggled.

"Speaking of that. Isn't a certain Ball coming up?" He asked, and I nodded.

"Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Petra, and I are making our own dresses." I said, thinking of the lovely fabrics we had back home.

Petra, and I had gone to a fabric store in Bright Moon and chosen fabrics for each other's dress. We seemed to know what the other liked more than ourselves.

There was a heartbeat in my ears now, it was intense, it was all I could hear. I whirled around as foot falls could faintly be heard. Noah dashed over to me and put an arm protectively around me. Adora shot into the room and stopped.

"Catra!?" She called, looking around she met out eyes.

"Was she here?" Adora asked, being to walk over.

"Adora no one is-" Noah stopped abruptly when Adora gasped, and jerked around, pointing her sword every which way.

I kept Noah out of the point's direction, knowing what had happened with all those trees in Pulmaria

"Show yourself!" Adora howled in fear. I moved away from Noah, holding up my hands.

"Azure! Azure, make him stop!" Adora called, moving towards me.

I went back to back with her, and looked around, drawing a knife from under the hem of my skirt. Adora started moving, and I stayed with her, keeping Noah directly across from me always, him moving as I moved. Adora was gasping.

"Adora, whatever they are saying, it's not happening. I promise, everything is fine-" My words caught in my throat, as I was soaring though the air, before landing hard on my side.

I gasped, and rolled over, groaning. Adora screamed with effort as she blasted the sword. Hundreds of crystals shattered, and blew in all sorts of directions, but I did not see much, as Noah threw himself over me.

After that there was a small silence, the heartbeat still audible, and more footsteps were coming. I relaxed under my brother's protection, and he slowly moved off me, and helped me up. I held my thigh gingerly. It was bruised for sure, not broken, sprained, or out of socket.

Casta entered the room, and gasped kneeling down, gripping a few broken crystals.

"What have you done!" She shouted, pointedly at Adora. I held out an arm.

"It's not her fault." I said while Adora stuttered for words, apologizing.

"I should have known. You wolves have been nothing but trouble." Casta blubbered.

"Adora!" Glimmer, and Bow rushed into the room, and to Adora's side.

"Your friend has just destroyed a thousand years' worth of sacred writings. She could have destroyed the lenses protecting Mystacor!" Casta shouted, and Noah took a defensive stance over Adora, trying to protect her.

"She didn't mean to. Adora would never-" Casta dismissed him and turned accusingly to Glimmer.

"Is this the kind of person you hang around with?" With that, Casta stomped out of the dome, not sawing another word.

"Auntie." Glimmer called after her. Adora walked past Noah.

"Glimmer-" She started to apologize, but Glimmer held up a hand, and smiled sadly.

"It's okay, I'll handle her." Glimmer said and walked off after her aunt.

"Adora, the Horde isn't here. You need to sleep... promise me you'll try." Bow said gently to Adora who sighed and nodded.

"I'll try." With that, Bow took my hand, and all four of us escorted Adora out...
