Overly Dramatic Sister In-Laws
Azure's POV
I sat at the table, carefully tracing the big, looping letters. The parchment was aged, golden parchment decorated with a few flowers stamped into the corners of the papers.
You are Cordially invited
to the Wedding of
Noah of Lupin & Petra of Bracken
November 5th
"It's so exciting that Petra is getting married in two months." Glimmer sighed wistfully, and I nodded.
"I can't thank you guys enough for helping me do this." I said, pressing an invitation into the pile before selecting the next one.
"No problem, this gives us a chance to talk about the bachelorette party." Glimmer said excitedly. I paused my writing to look up, feeling like this was the distraction I needed. I had been spending almost every waking hour with Faust, practicing my newfound strength.
"I move that we throw the bachelorette party to tomorrow, since Petra is pretty swamped leading up to the wedding." I offered and Glimmer gaped.
"Oh! Really!? That would be so cool!" It was until now that I failed to notice how pink Adora had gotten. I wondered what the cause of confusion could be until I remembered her fun deprived life in the Horde.
"A Bachelorette party is when the bridesmaids throw a party for the bride. People do all sorts of things, such as Bar hopping." I explained but Glimmer popped up.
"Which we will not be doing, seeing as we are all underage." I pointed at her and nodded as if to wordlessly agree to this statement.
Adora nodded slowly. "Is it like some rite of passage?" She asked. Oh boy. I shook my head, trying to think about Bachelorette parties.
"It's just whatever you all enjoy." I explained further. Adora nodded, finally seeming to have gotten it.
The door opened and I looked over to see Petra peaking in. "Azure- oh, sorry." She apologized with a chuckle. "Sorry can I talk to you a second?" I looked to Glimmer and Adora who nodded.
"Go ahead, we can hold down the fort." Adora assured me with a playful salute.
"Thanks guys, I will only be a moment." I said as I stood. Petra retreated from the door and I followed. She went down the hall and I followed until we were outside. She walked halfway through the courtyard before stopping.
"Petra? What is wrong? Is it the dress? The cake or the shoes? Oh wait... Is it the tissue bouquet again?" I asked semi teasingly.
Petra turned to me. "Shift." Was all she said. Within seconds she was contorting into her wolf skin. I scoffed and looked around; arms spread wide.
"Petra its almost midnight, no one is out here that could be in earshot." Petra only barked. I sighed and threw my head back as the warm hum spread through my body. I fell to four legs and looked at Petra, slightly annoyed.
"What is so important that we have to discuss it in wolf tongue?" I grumbled as Petra began walking again, slowly. I stayed at her side. She smelled guilty, like she was nervous of something. "Petra. If something is wrong, I need you to tell me." I insisted softly.
Petra met my eyes and sighed. Her ears folded back, and her tail drooped. "We changed our minds. We aren't having the wedding here." I tilted my head, ears swiveling.
"What do you mean?" I asked slowly.
"We are getting married in the Hidden Place." My eyes widened as I shifted on my paws.
"Wow... That's... a long way away, but I guess we'd get there in time." I assured her. Petra nodded and looked down. There was still something more she had to tell me, I could sense it.
"I just needed to make sure no one heard that... And only a few non-wolves can come. Angela is coming as an ambassador with Glimmer. You get a plus one which I assumed would be Bow. Mermista, Frosta and Perfuma are coming as well. Adora is Faust's plus one too." I understood her reasons. She wanted to be married at the sight of her people. Her step mum and dad were there, and She had not seen them in almost a year...
"That's not a big deal. It will be fine. We haven't started the cake; the dress can be packed, and all but four invitations will be burned." I assured her. Petra breathed in and pressed her head to my shoulder in a kind of wolf hug. I pressed my head into her neck and breathed.
"Thank you Azure. You are the best sister anyone could ask for." I heard her whisper...
