I Think My Pride Is Broken... Oh, My Ankle Too
Azure's POV
The air rushed past us as we fell from the sky. The forest was so far below that I knew the fall would be fatal. Glimmer was unconscious by the looks of it, Bow shook her, and called out for her, but nothing happened I angled myself in an arc to keep control of the fall. My ankle was screaming in white hot pain, and I felt tears leak from my eyes at the velocity at which we fell.
Trying to clear my mind I looked around. Petra was screaming, actually everyone was screaming. I looked around muttering to myself. My heart was up in my throat, but I was not going to die today.
"What do we have... Trees. Trees, we have trees." I mumbled and racked my brains.
There was no way this would work. I never got to say goodbye to Noah, or Faust. I have so much to live for!
Before I knew what was happening Bow had drawn an arrow and fired at the trees. A net sprung out, clinging to the trees, and braking out fall. I whipped my head back, and grabbed my leg, yelping in pain.
"Azzy?" Petra asked kneeling over me.
"I'm fine." I moaned.
She passed me down to Bow, who held me up until Petra could take me, and he knelt, placing Glimmer against the trunk of a tree.
"Is she okay?" I asked, and Bow nodded, checking her pulse.
She stirred, and I brace myself against the same tree as the others backed away.
"Glimmer? Glimmer?" Bow called softly to her.
She opened her eyes and moaned. "Did it work?"
Bow smiled fondly with a chuckle.
"Yah it worked, barely. Are you okay?" He asked, and she straightened up.
She was pale, and wobbly, so I kept her sitting.
"Hang on, I got to check you first," I said, feeling for anything that might be broken, or dislocated.
She was able to move her toes, and fingers okay, but she was tuckered out.
"I'm fine." She tried to stand and clutched her lower ribs with a groan.
"I think I used too much power getting us out of there." She said, and I nodded.
"I don't know who could have predicted that. Oh right, me." Bow smirked, and Glimmer narrowed her eyes.
"Bow." She warned, but he kept going.
"Like an hour ago."
Glimmer scowled. "Bow!"
He backed off.
"Sorry, I'm glad you're okay. But seriously, no more teleporting, you could really hurt yourself." He said, and I nodded as Glimmer looked to me for confirmation that it was really that bad.
"I'm fine. Let's just get back to Bright Moon so I can recharge already." She grumbled again and looked over at Adora.
"Why are you still here?" She snapped as Petra helped me to sit down.
I listened to the conversation as I took off my boot checking my ankle. It was broken and needed to be adjusted.
"What?" Adora asked with a slight tilt of her head.
"Bow, and I are hardly a crack security team, and these guys... well Azure's ankle is broken, and Petra won't leave her if it's the end of the world." Glimmer said, and I nodded looking up at Petra.
"Don't get all sappy on me now." She warned, but still gave me a hug.
"Point is, you could have escaped at any time. Why didn't you?" Glimmer asked looking a little sad.
Adora looked away for a moment and shifted on her feet.
"I just- I want to figure out what's happening to me. If I go back to the Fright Zone, then I'll never know... I never knew where I came from or who my family was, and Shadow Weaver said it didn't matter who is was before." Adora said looking away from all of us and taking few steps back.
"That I was nothing before Hordak took me in. There's always been a part of me that I don't know anything about, and all of this feels familiar somehow. I don't know how else to explain it." She said looking back at Glimmer.
A flash of sorrow crossed her face before her eyes fixed on the Horde badge, and she glared hard again. Bow placed his hands on her shoulders, and grinned.
"Glimmer's mom knows more about the First Ones than anyone. She'll know what going on with you, and the sword for sure. So, if you want your questions answered, stick with us?" He said, with a smile walking up to her, and extended a hand.
Adora reached for it, before Glimmer interrupted.
"Let's go, there should be a village a few miles from here." She said, and I cocked a brow.
"Can I fix my foot first please?" I said, and she looked back at me with a startled look.
"Oh right... do you need help?" She asked, and I nodded.
"Can you guys help me over to those?" I asked pointing at a few sticks that had fallen from the trees above.
Bow watched as I set my hands on my foot with a wince.
"What are you gonna do?" he asked, and I shrugged.
"Pop the bone back I place so it doesn't heal funny." I said and looked up at him. "You might want to look away." I said bracing myself.
"I'm a Rebellion fighter, I've seen far worse-" Before he could finish, I pushed, and with a swift, but sickening crack the bone was settled.
Bow yelped, and I lay my head back.
"Oh, that's way better." I mumbled, and quickly fashioned a splint using some of the cloth we found in the Elberon ruins, and the sticks Glimmer brought.
I stood with the help of Bow, and we started towards the Village.
I walked next to Adora for a while, and I held out my hand as we walked.
"I'm Azure." I said, and she smiled lightly shaking my hand.
"Adora.... You're one of those wolves people right?" she asked, and I nodded.
Bow leaned in excitedly. "It is the coolest thing to see. She gets all big, and her teeth get super long..." He trailed off, and I shrugged.
"Yeah, I'll miss that." I said, and with the confused looks from them both I elaborated. "My bones reform when I shift right? So, when a bone is broken it messes up the transformation." Bow, and Adora nodded with an oh...
