Break Ins and Break Outs

Azure's POV

I stood in the door, Petra folded her arms and looked at me as I looked down.  "You said it was fine." Petra said, and I nodded, looking up at her.

"I know I did. I guess I realized I wasn't ready to lose my best friend." Petra walked towards me as I rubbed my arms.

"Azure look at me. I am still here." She assured me, but I shook my head.

"But that's not true is it? You are leaving, it's inevitable." I replied. Petra just stared into my eyes.

"I just don't feel safe raising a family here." I lowered my head, realizing what she meant.

"I... understand." I whispered and looked up at Petra again.  "I am sorry... I have been selfish and horrible." I apologized, realizing what I had been thinking.  "I was angry, because I felt you slipping away, and then Bow started to slip. I was worried that it was my fault. I am just so pig headed, and I get hurt so easily. I guess I thought that I was the reason everyone left. I was the reason Cosmo left." Petra grabbed my arms.

"Azure, you were and are not the reason anyone in our lives has left." She scolded.  "Cosmo died making sure you got away, and he would never want you to think of that as your fault." She said and pressed her head to mine.  "We are a pack, and we will never be far from each other." She whispered and I nodded.

"Okay..."

I started awake at the sound of a frantic heartbeat, just as Noah burst into the room.  "Az, Azzy wake up." He said and I sat up in bed, blankets falling off my black tank top, and into my lap.

"Noah?" I wondered aloud, my eyes creaking open.  "What is happening?" I asked as he grabbed my arm and pulled me up.

"It's Shadow Weaver, she tried to attack Adora or something." He said, pulling me up.  I grabbed my jean jacket from the handle on the door and pulled it on as we walked. I kept my pace quick, my bare feet slapping against the tile. I saw Queen Angela down the hall, Glimmer's Aunt Casta was there as well.

"No one sleeps until we figure out how Shadow Weaver got into the castle. Angela stopped abruptly at a door, and Casta turned to face her, clearly confused.

"Why are we stopping here?" Casta asked, and Angela gestured towards the door.

"This is where we're holding the prisoner.' Angela said simply.

"This is your prison?" Casta questioned as we approached them.

"Well, technically it's the spare room, but it is more than adequate as a holding cell. We removed the cushions." I cocked a brow and looked across the hall at Faust and Petra approaching from the other side.  "Most of the cushions." Angela admitted.

"This is the prison?" Adora asked, walking up to the door, Bow and Glimmer behind her.

"Yes, it's the prison." Angela said loudly then turned to Adora.

"Your Majesty, I know Shadow Weaver. I know her tricks. I need to be there for the interrogation, I am the only one who-" Adora explained but Angela held up her hand to silence her.

"Shadow Weaver is Dangerous. I will not let that woman near you. Near any of you. You are to stay away from this room." She commanded, and Adora sighed.

"But your majesty-" Adora pleaded.

"That is final."

Adora slouched and I watched as Angela entered the room, and Casta followed, shutting the door behind them. A guard moved in front of the door, and I turned to Adora who groaned.  "I need to get in there. Shadow Weaver could have gone anywhere, but she came here. I need to know why." She ranted. If the queen would just listen to me-" Glimmer sighed.

"Adora, maybe this is for the best." Glimmer said, taking Adora down the hall.  "Shadow Weaver raised you. She knows how to get in your head. We can't risk her manipulating you." Glimmer insisted and they stopped, Adora turning to face all of us.

"That won't happen." She said and turned her face away.  I felt her heart rate pick up in the lightest and she yawned, with a stretch, turning to us again.  "Fine. I guess we should all just head back to bed, get some sleep, heh, let the obviously unqualified Bright Moon Guards handle this." She said loudly, and I smirked back at the yawning Bright Moon Guard, smothering a yawn myself.

"Did you just yawn too?" Noah asked and I gave him a look.

"Yawns are contagious. Did you know that if you can't catch a yawn from someone you are more likely to become a psychopath?" I informed them, and we returned out attention to Adora.

"You're going to try to sneak in, aren't you?" Bow said, crossing him arms. Adora's eyes went wide.

"What? No..." Adora chuckled and turned, walking away. Bow and Glimmer moved to follow her, but us wolves placed a hand in front of them.

"Three, two, one." Noah whispered, and Adora jerked, and started running past us. Glimmer leapt forward and grabbed Adora.

"No!" Glimmer shouted, teleporting her away.

...I listened from below as Adora and Bow had a staring contest. Glimmer had already fallen asleep and would snort or grumble in her slumber every now and then. I lay with my head beside Noah's and I breathed in the scent of the room. I felt the hearts slowing down, but Adora seemed as though she was not even tired, her beat seamed even, quick, and wakeful. Within seconds of listening to them battle it out over head, I felt Bow's heart drop to a slow thump, and heard his soft snores.

I heard the blankets rustle and watched discretely as Adora made her way down the small steps to the ground. I waited a few seconds until she was out the door before, I got up and followed. I stayed close, hidden in the shadows. I watched Adora somersault and dive through the hall quiet as a mouse. Funny people say that because mice are dreadfully loud. I watched as she hid behind a fern as a guard walked past and she looked at the door. I came up behind her unnoticed, and grabbed her by her sleeve, and pulled her up.

"Why?" I asked rhetorically and dragged her back to the room.

Petra's head shot up and Glimmer looked tiredly over the edge of her bed.  "Add ten more years to her sentence." Petra groaned, turning over.

...I was woken a second time by Glimmer and Noah escorting Adora back into the room.  "I am getting a soda." I grumbled, standing up and walking out.  If I was going to be up all night, trying to save Adora from becoming corrupted by an evil sorceress, then I might as well do it with a cold soda on my tongue.

Walking past the holding cell, with most the cushions removed; I saw a guard, too short for her robes, and smelled remarkably identical to Adora. I paused next to the guard, folding my arms, tilting the soda bottle to my lips, and taking a sip. Adora tapped her staff against the floor.

"I am, uh, here to relieve you of your duty." Adora said, speaking in a false rough tone.

I stepped on her rumpled train. Adora staggered, dropping her staff. She turned to me, saluting. The guard gave me a look and knocked Adora's helmet off her head.  I grabbed Adora's arm and dragged her back to Glimmer's room. When I opened the door Glimmer was waiting, arms crossed. Petra, Noah, and Faust were gone, hunting probably.  Bow shot up at the sound of the door slamming, light bouncing off his Bow as he aimed his empty bow to the blank wall.

"Look, I told you, I just need to talk to her." Adora said, irritation evident.

"Ugh, Adora, shadow Weaver will try to hurt you again." Glimmer groaned angrily.

"You don't know that." Adora insisted.

"Yes, I do. She is from the Horde. She is evil. Evil people don't change." Glimmer growled. Adora took a defensive stance.

"I'm from the Horde. I changed." Adora reminded us.

"That's different." I told her and Glimmer nodded.

"You're not like them. You're good, and kind, and-" Bow listed off, trying to keep her calm.

"And She-Ra?" She finished for him, transforming the rope she held at her hip into the sword.  I shook my head.

"I was just like the rest of them, and then I left. Not because I picked up this Sword, but because it was the right thing to do. I have to believe that the others can change too. Even Shadow Weaver." Adora said, and I looked away, thinking.  If I could be with Adora when she talks to Shadow weaver, then maybe I could sense if she really did have it in her, to be like Adora.

"Just trust me, Okay? I am strong enough to face her now. I need to know if she has truly changed. If the woman who raised me still has some good deep down inside her. Deep, deep down inside her." Adora said, and I felt sympathy for her.

"If I could have saved my mom, I would have. I know that is how you felt about her, I can see it. I am here for you." I said, putting a hand on my chest, and walking over to Adora.  I placed my forehead on hers and stepped back. I looked over my shoulder at Bow and Glimmer.

"We trust you, but we won't let you face her alone. Now, what do you need us to do?" Bow asked, a smile gracing his lips.

Adora smiled and looked at me.  "Anything?" She asked me and I nodded.

"I picked up a few things watching my grandfather." I winked...
