Bad Dreams And Voodoo
Azure's POV
The sea was beautiful at night, reflecting the stars beautifully. Wait... stars? I looked up, seeing an unfamiliar star lit sky. This was not real; this was a dream.
"Azure?" I turned around to see Bow, he was walking over to me, and smiling.
"Oh... Hi Bow." I greeted a little dully as he walked over, or course this being a dream he did not discern my tone to be disappointed, and he leaned on the railing next to me.
"It's pretty out." I said trying to break the silence that stretched out around us like a perpetual void of silence.
"So are you." I turned to look bow in the eyes, only finding that I could not picture them right.
I was blushing madly, my body moved of its own accord, I was leaning in, a whisper of breath on my lips, then a flash.
My eyes snapped open, as I saw Bow on the ship floor, not breathing, unmoving, very much dead. My heart felt like it would burst, and I threw myself backward. A ball of light seeped from his body. This orb painfully familiar.
"Bow!?" I shouted but he never moved, I shook him but there was no life.
The ball of light zoomed around me, lines of cold appeared on my body, and I shook before jerking awake.
My heart thudded in my chest, and I sat up, breathing heavily. Petra was still fast asleep in her own bed. My shoulder, and neck felt cold, and wet, stringing with pain. I stood up and touched my neck tentatively. My hand came away bloodied. I winced and hurried to the mirror. My neck dripped with blood. I quickly walled to the bathroom joined in our room, and damped a washcloth, and cleaned my neck. It was a perfect line of shredded skin. Cut by razors, in intricate straight patterns. I shook myself and kept cleaning.
Once the blood had stopped, I allowed myself to calm down. I placed gauze on my neck, covering the mess up as best as I could, and pulled on a new shirt, discarding the tank top that was once white. I pulled on a black hoodie, with my grey blue leggings. Changing my pillowcase, I made sure not to wake Petra, and I left. Walking through the halls alone I felt peaceful, serene.
"Azure."
I turned to see Queen Angela standing in the opposite direction I had been going.
"Queen Angela." I bowed my head, and winced, touching my neck absentmindedly.
She noticed and walked over to me. I avoided her gaze, and he examined my gauze wrapped neck.
"What's happened?" She asked, face full of shock, but her voice was calm.
"I don't know... it was a dream." I murmured.
Angela without another word embraced me. I gingerly hugged her back and melted into her motherly embrace.
It seemed like forever since I would next hug my mother, but Angela had that same motherly aura about her. Pulling back, she wrapped an arm around my shoulders, and lead me through the castle to the hospital wing. I sat down as a healer examined my wound.
"I cleaned it already, I didn't have my alcohol on me though." I informed her.
The healer nodded, and fetched a bottle, dampening a cloth. She did not have to tell me it would sting; I already knew.
I winced and bit my lip as the wound was cleaned again. Angela stood by the healer and watched intently. Taking note of all the other lines of similar patterns of scars, and scabs. Some older than others.
"How did this happen?" Angela asked again, hoping I would recover something.
"It wasn't made by any kind of weapon, the markings are small, and uniformly sporadic." I said, and the Healer confirmed this with a nod.
We left the healers, and I walked to my room with Angela. She bid me a good night and hugged me once more. I watched her leave for a moment before going back to bed.
