An Extraordinary Engagement

Azure's POV

The next morning brought a sore body, and an irritated cut. The alcohol was combating whatever infections tried to infiltrate. The knowledge of this was kept from Noah, Faust, and Petra, and the week went by normally. I kept working my leg, but it felt strange, unreliable. I was laying in the grass by a small river, the sound drowned our everything else.

"Hey." Well... almost everything else.

I looked over to see Bow. I smiled faintly.

"Hey." I said back. Bow lay beside me and fiddled with his thumbs a question lingering on his lips.

"So... Ahem- How are you feeling?" He asked, and I shrugged.

"I'm alive. You?" He nodded with a chuckle.

"Heh, same." The was a passing moment of awkward silence neither of us knowing what do to.

"Thanks for having my back over in Salineas." I finally said, and he looked over at me, smiling wide.

"Yeah, you were great!" He said, and then blushed hard, I wondered if my face were heating up too, I could never tell, but It was petty warm right now.

"You can shift this week, right?" He asked, and I nodded, crossing my fingers.

"The time has come! Well is coming, on Saturday..." I said and Bow chuckled.

"Yeah.... Uh... speaking of the weekends... maybe if you're not doing anything, I mean- I'm sure you are-" Bow blabbered on, sitting up, and rubbing the back of his neck. I suppressed a smile and nodded for him to go on.

"Well maybe you'd like to-" There was a flash of pink light between us, and I covered my eyes with my arm.

As soon as the flash was gone, I lowered my arm, and saw Glimmer holding Adora.

"There you guys are it took forever to find you." Glimmer groaned playfully and stood up.

Adora took my hand and helped me up. I was disappointed with the timing, and now I had to live in suspense until we talked again. Bow was still blushing, and looked even a little sweaty, but let us be honest, I was too. I was sure I knew what he might say, but at the same time...

"Anyway, major news! We are going to Dryl! Saturday at dawn!" Glimmer said, and I perked up.

"Dryl?" I grinned, and Glimmer nodded.

"Have you ever been there? Mom said you'd know about it, she wants Noah, and you to come, I mean if you're interested." She added, looking down at my leg.

It was still a little different than the right, it was paler, and more veins were visible. I did not really like people looking at it, but I put such trivial thoughts aside, and nodded.

"Yeah, yeah I know it." I nodded, and Glimmer's face dawned in realization.

"Oh, right. Well... Noah is coming, are you in?" She asked eagerly hopping up, and down.

I nodded, and Glimmer hugged me. Cautiously I hugged back, keeping my left arm in a specific position. Bow hugged Glimmer, Adora, and I together, and then we split.

Once I was back in my room, I was packing for the trip to Dryl, Petra came in, her eyes were wide, and her thumbs were twiddling.

"Something wrong?" I asked, and she looked at me as if she had not even noticed I was there.

"Oh, Azzy... everything's fine. I really need to talk to you." She said sitting down.

I set my pack down, and locked eyes with her. Her pulse was elevated, and she looked frazzled.

"Are you feeling okay?" I asked, and she nodded, then shook her head.

"I don't know." She admitted talking extremely fast.

I did some routine checks, like her temperature, throat, ears, and even did an eye test, though I was sure it was not any of those, I still needed all the variables.

"Noah, and I have been dating for a while." She started, and I nodded.

When we lived in Lupin, Petra had been on, and off with Noah as young teens, and since we got to Bright Moon, they were on again. Wondering if this was another brake up, which was not unusual for them, I kept listening.

"Azure, your brother has asked me to marry him..."

I looked up at her. Her face was serious, and I could feel my jaw drop.

"And I think I want to say yes... with your approval." She said, and I pressed my hands to my mouth, and knelt.

So much emotion was running though me that tears started to slip down my cheeks.

"Yes, yes of course you have my approval, why wouldn't you?" I laughed and threw my arms around her. She hugged back, and I could feel her crying too.

"It's just that with Noah gone, it will just be you, and Faust, and I couldn't do that to you." She said, and I shook my head in her hair with a chuckle.

"Why would I be sad when two of the most important people in my life have a chance to be eternally happy? Don't ever worry about such a stupid thing like that." She laughed and gave me a squeeze.

My arm burned horribly, but I did not care, I did not want to let go.

We pulled back, and I sniffed rather loudly.

"Well let's see it then." I grinned, my eyes swollen, and I could not quite make a full smile without more tears.

Petra, and I sat back on the headboard, and I snuggled a pillow into my chest. Petra produced a beautiful ring from her pocket. It was rose gold, with small snowy white diamonds studded into what loved like the center of intricately made golden flowers. I gasped softly, and she slid it on her left ring finger.

"Oh, Petra, its beautiful." I said, admiring it on her silky skin.

"Youknow what? This officially makes usSister Fiancés." I looked at her, and grinned, placing a sisterly kiss on hertemple, and snuggled into her.
