She was running. Her heart beat rapidly and her legs pumped her further. Just beginning to reach the age of adolescence, Azalea was not strong enough to run for a long period of time. Weeks of very few sources, such as food, were affecting the level of stamina supporting her escape.
The forest was dense, more so than she was used to. It made it much harder for her to weave between trees and bushes swiftly. Her feet were already raw and burning. Her tiny breaths were uneven, and wreaking havoc on her lungs, begging for just a bit more air. All she knew was she had to run and she couldn't stop. Ever.
But that's not what happens. Pushing herself over a large tree log, an ice-cold hand grabbed her ankle and yanked hard. It felt as if her joint was being pulled from the socket. Her skin was left unprotected as her fabric shirt scrapped across the rough bark, tearing open and cutting her abdomen. She screamed loudly, trying to keep a grip on the tree. She failed miserably as another hand wrapped around her arm and pulled her off and halted her escape.
"No!" She kept screaming, streams of tears pouring out of her doe eyes. Her frail body was thrown to the forest floor. She coughed dirt from her mouth and flipped over and looked up, noticing two very tall strangers looming over her.
Their attire was black, and they had matching silver hair with pale white skin. Bad chills rushed through Azalea's skin when she saw both of their eyes were blood red.
Vampires.
Their fangs protruded from their gums as they eyed the weakling. The one on left couldn't contain the evil laughter that bubbled out, the human thought she could escape. What a price she will be, the headmaster will be very pleased. He thought.
She started to crawl away but was stopped to be grabbed once again. Claws dug into her fragile skin, causing blood to trickle down her arms.
"I am quite thirsty Bevel. How about you?" One asked.
"Parched, I am," Bevel responded with a sinister smile.
Holding her in a tight grasp, they clung to her like she was survival. Both vampires yanked her head back, leaving her throat in the clutches of their fangs. They each sunk their fangs into the sides of her neck and sucked greedily. Azalea's screams were raw as pain consumed her body, causing her muscles to freeze. Paralyzed she was. Unable to fight for her life, only left with the feeling of her body being drained of blood.
They drank and they drank. Drank themselves into a euphoric pleasure, sending tingles through their bodies.
Her eyelids become heavy and found it very difficult to keep her eyes open. Her consciousness slipped with every gulp. The tight grips she had on her captors eventually loosened and she was robbed of her strength, feeling it whittle in the distance of her mind. Her legs gave out, but they kept a firm hold keeping her in the perfect spot, drinking her delectable blood. Whimpers left her mouth replacing her screams that were no longer. Thick tears slowly ran from her eyes.
Through the slivers of her eyelids, she could only see the night sky. She wished she lived in the stars, she would be safe there.
Her skin was torn from her throat as the stars burned still and bright, watching the horrifying scene below.
With no strength left within her, she fell into the deep, dark abyss of nothingness.
