Adelaide Thomas' pov
"Hey toothpick," Kai's voice says from my phone. I pinch myself to see if I'm dreaming.

"Kai?" I ask incredulously.

"And Cole!" I hear a lot of swishing before Cole's voice begins rambling as he fought for the phone.
"Hi toothpick! We're outside but Kai wants to say hi to his giiiirlfriiiend~"

"I-you're impossible!" Kai grumbles from a distance.

"Also, can you come with us pleeeaasse? The team's getting back! Lloyd says he has a new mission for all of the ninja." He emphasized the 'all' and I let out a shaky breath.

"Why? What's wrong? Is he okay?" I ramble. Even though he stopped caring, I still had feelings left over.

Kai mumbled something uninteligible and he speaks up "well, he isn't telling us yet so we have to go!"

I see something brown and spiky in a bush and walk over to the window. I lightly tap it and two heads pop up

"Hi!" Cole says brightly.

"I'll go, but I promise you, this is going to be awkward."

(Time skip and I just realized that I was spelling awkward wrong the whole time so I'm going to have to go through all of the times I said it grrr!)

I uneasily look up at the tall Borg Tower. I shiver with anticipation.
"You alright, Toothpick?" Cole uses the annoying nickname and I grimace.

"Yeah..! Just nervous, I guess."

"We're all nervous, we haven't seen each other in a long time." Kai says while ruffling my hair. I sigh at the familiarity at his habit. I fix my hair and begin waking towards the building. 

"Why don't we just get this over with?" I huff. We open the doors and get in the elevator. It bings and we enter a room full of dusty artifacts. Sun filters through the windows and I smile at the crowd. They didn't look too different, just older like Kai and Cole. Cole's hair was shaggier and Kai had a new scar on his face, but at least they didn't look different. Nya looked amazing though. While different she gave off a warmth that was no different.

"Ahem?" Kai clears his throat and Nya screeches
"KAI!!" She launches herself onto her brother and he spins her around.

"Adelaide!" Jay smiles at me. "Thought you'd be skipping this one for sure.! I'm glad you're here!"

"Wouldn't miss it for the world." My stomach churns. A circular hole in the window to my right beings a cold breeze in. Green flashes in the door window and I hold my breath.

I rush over with the other ninja to greet Lloyd. "Hey, there he is!" Kai stops talking to Nya and high-fives Lloyd. "You're late!" He playfully puts his hands on his hips and I smile.
Zane steps towards Lloyd with a small smile. "If it is any consolation, Kai was late too."

Kai raises his hands in the air. "Uh-excuse me I had a very important delivery to get here." I punch his shoulder but feel eyes burn into my head. I look over to see Lloyd staring at me. His eyes were brighter green, but they were still darkened by sadness and grief that clouded his gaze, the same look he'd give me right before he left. I play with the ends of my gi and look away.

"Thanks for meeting me here, it's been a while since we've been under one roof." I stop myself from gaping. Lloyd's voice was deeper, and all I could think was
That's.
So.
Hot.

He doesn't think of you that way, Adelaide! Move on, seriously! I think to myself.
Nya giggles and Cole nudges Jay.
"What?" Lloyd looks behind him to see if something was funny but that just made her laugh harder.

Jay leans forward. "Aaaaare we going to talk about it?" He beams.

"About what?"

"Your voice, it's..." Cole rests a hand on his chin looking for the right word.

"Lower," Zane makes his voice inhumanly deep and I laugh quietly. Kai leaps on Lloyd to ruffle his hair. "Sounds like our little ninja is all grown up!" Kai laughs and Lloyd removes Kai's hand from his head with a small "hey!"

"Leave him alone," Nya smiles kindly.

I clear my throat and everyone turns to me. "Lloyd..? any word from Misako?" I say quietly. Lloyd looks away with surprise at me addressing him but he still answers.

"Not since she went searching for Master Wu." He mutters sombrely.
" I don't know where she is."

"She'll come back Lloyd!" Cole says with a reassuring smile.

"Not everyone comes back, but that's not why I called you here." Lloyd says with a grimace.
I notice a small screen in his hands.

"I called you because of this," he flips around a tablet he had in his hands and an ugly logo appears. I gasp as I recognize the features.

"Your father?" Cole asks "Lord Garmadon?"

"Yeah," Lloyd sighs. "I've been looking around and learned that it's the symbol for-"

"The sons of garmadon." Zane interrupts. "A mysterious biker group growing in the proponents of Ninjago City."
Lloyd nods. "72 hours ago, a powerful relic from Cyrus Borg was stolen." Lloyd supplies

"So, some mask?" I guess, looking around at the majority of relics, being masks. I turn around as I hear footsteps. A man with a eyepatch, and greasy black hair in a short ponytail walks regally in.

"Not some mask," his strangely accented voice says "the Oni mask. There are 3 in total."

"Well, I'm confused! How can there be 3 masks when you said it's only one mask?" Jay asks. I laugh and Nya leans over to him
"Not only Jay. OOONI." She drags out the word as if she was explaining it to a child. I shrug because, Jay sort of is a child.

"The Oni are said to be all powerful beings deeming to create ninjago." Zane says proudly.

( my reference video to get this right was bad quality so I will get a lot of this wrong, please let me know and I'll change it!)

The odd man turns to s mask in a glass casing. " each mask embodies one of the three Oni warlords. When all 3 masks are united, whoever holds them. will have tremendous power," the man explains.

"Ninja, this is Mr. Hudgens," Lloyd introduces us and explains that he is with the royal family. "I've asked him here."
"The royal family?" Kai asks and tilts his head.

"Apologies if you are not familiar, they honor their privacy, as they do the safety of ninjago."

I look over at Cole and he shrugs. If Lloyd trusts him, we'll have to too.
"Let me guess, they have an Oni mask too." Cole suggests.

"Two?! Now there's two?" Jay asks. I facepalm. Nya slaps her hand over his mouth and he frowns. 
"The emperor will be delivering a public speech tomorrow," Mr. Hudgens frowns "and I'm worried the sons of garmadon may try to steal the mask. We could use your assistance," he pauses "that is, if you can keep a low profile."

I snort at his comment, but disguise it in a cough.
"We're ninja! No one will know we're there!" Zane assures the older man. He nods. Lloyd steps forward

"Just let us know where and when."

HALFWAY THROUGH EPISODE ONE!! currently there is a huge thunderstorm right above my house (yay💀) so if there is no italics or bolded parts of the story, the power went out here so I have to write offline!
