Chapter 21

Hiccup's POV

"Alright let's go down the list again." Said mom before she began listing the items I needed.

"Ring? Picnic basket filled with her favorite foods? Picnic blanket? Candles? Date destination? And finally, the saddle." I'm taking Astrid to a secluded island so we are going to ride Toothless.

"Yep everything is here. Except Astrid." I said. I still had to ask her in the date.

"Perfect. Now go ask her on that date. She isn't psychic." Mom stated sarcastically. I smile and gave her a hug.

"Thanks mom, for all of your support."

"Oh Hiccup, it's my pleasure. Now go ask her out!" She said as she shooed me out of the house and pointed in the direction of Astrid's house.

-$time skip$-

I was now in front of Astrid's house, about to know on the door. I don't know why but I felt, kind of nervous. I knew she would agree to the date but I'm worried that she will reject my marriage offer. Oh what am I saying? Of course she'll say yes. We love each other. I knocked and Gobber opened the door. Since he was basically her father, since he raised her after her parents went missing in the same dragon attack that my mom did, she lived with him.

"Hey Gobber, is Astrid here?" I asked whiles scratching the back of my head.

"Oh hello Hiccup. She's upstairs." He said. "ASTRID! YOU HAVE A VISITOR!" He shouted. That was, really loud. I heard her footsteps coming down the stairs and toward the door. She stepped outside so me and her could talk in private, since it was a private conversation.

"Oh hi Hic!" She said and kissed me on my cheek. "What's up?"

"Oh I was just wondering if, well, you wanted to go on a date... With me." I asked nervously. Gods Hiccup calm yourself!

"I would love too!!! Where we going?!" She asked as she jumped up in glee.

"A beautiful island I found when I was exploring with Toothless. I'll pick you up at 4! Dress however you want you'll look beautiful in anything." I kissed her lips and walked home, leaving a blushing Astrid at her front doorstep.

Astrid's POV

Oh. My. Gods. I'm so excited it this date! I don't know why but. I sensed something different this time.

"Gobber guess what?!" I shouted as I ran inside.

"What is it Astrid?"

"Hiccup asked me on a romantic date! I'll be leaving tonight at 4 to a mysterious island with him and Toothless!" I hugged him.

"That's great! Do you know what time you'll be back 'lass?" He asked. Why do I feel like he's hiding something?

"Gobber, are you hiding anything?" I asked skeptically.

"Uh.. Nope. You better go get ready for that date. It's 2:30!" He said shakily. He was hiding something.

"Okay... But if I find out you are hiding something you're dead meat!" I said as I went upstairs to find something to wear.

(A/N: I'm sure all of you have figured this out but Gobber knows Hiccup is gonna propose.)

-time skip to 3:30-

Hiccup's POV

Okay everything is set up at the island and I need to get dressed. I decided to wear nice armor, and I combed me hair. I went downstairs and saw mom at the table, petting Toothless.

"How do I look Mom? Do I seem marriage worthy?" I asked as I turned around in a full circle.

"Hiccup you've always been marriage material. But there's one thing." She said as she came closer to me and messed up my hair.

"Ugh mom!" I smiled. I can't be mad at her.

"Astrid likes it better messy. She told me so." I decided to trust her. She did know a lot about this kind of stuff. "Plus, you just look better with messy hair. I don't quite know why."

I looked at the time. I had to go pick up Astrid.

"Oh I gotta go Mom! I'll see you later!"

"Wait! Do you have the ring?" She asked.

I checked my pocket and the small gold chest was there. I gave her a thumbs up and she smiled.

"Good luck honey." She gave me a kiss on the forehead and I hugged her. I smiled and waved, then left for Astrid's house.

-At the Hofferson Household-

Astrid's POV

It was 3:55. I was dressed in my normal hoodie, but I had my nice shoulder pads on and my nice skirt. Hiccup made the spikes on them because he knew I liked the spiky skirts. I then heard a knock at the door. I went downstairs and opened the door to see a dashing young man in nice, leather armor, with his hair messed up and goofy grin on his face.

"You ready M'lady?" Hiccup asked as he outstretched his hand. Without even saying anything, I ran down the front 2 steps and gave him a passionate kiss.

"Yes I am."

We walked over to Toothless and he helped me up before getting up himself. What a gentlemen. We flew for what felt like minutes, which had turned out to be 30 minutes. We landed near a beautiful waterfall that had a picnic basket and blanket at the edge of the water, and candles made a small circle around the blanket. All I could do was smile like an idiot.

"Hiccup this is.... This is so amazing." I kissed him and he guided me to the blanket.

-a wee little time skip-

We sat and talked for hours. We ate fish, chicken, potatoes, and all of my favorite foods. I couldn't believe he remembered all my favorite things after all this time.

"Astrid, have you ever thought about your future? You know like marriage, kids, all that stuff?" He asked. Meek that was kind of a random question.

"Well yeah, but not often. I would love to get married though. I feel like I'm ready for marriage." I simply stated. Suddenly, the corners of his mouth crept into a smile.

We stood up and began to walk back to Toothless since it was getting late. But he stopped, so I stopped.

"Hiccup what wrong?" He grabbed my hand and I realized, he had one hand behind his back.

"Well Astrid, there's something I wanted to ask you. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I decided that I knew we would be together forever. And just to make sure that you were marked as mine, I wanted to ask you something." He said as he pulled out a small golden chest from behind his back. I beamed in happiness. I knew what this meant and I couldn't believe it.

"Astrid Hofferson," he was down on one knee, holding the gold chest open to reveal a beautiful gold ring, "will you marry me?"

I gasped. "Oh Hiccup yes, yes a thousand times YES!" I shouted and jumped on him, knocking him over. Before I knew it we were kissing, and I didn't mind one bit.

Once we pulled apart he out the ring on my finger. I kissed him again and let him carry me, bridal style, back to Toothless so we could fly home.

I, Astrid Hofferson, is getting married to the love of her life.
