Chapter 26

Astrid's POV

It was all sad. Looking at Hiccup in this state for a week and a half, it was painful. Valka would come in and keep me company for a while, then go off to do Thor knows what. Stoick would come in for a brief few minutes, then go to do chief business. The gang would come in and say what they want to say, comfort me, then go. Toothless hasn't moved from the headboard of Hiccup's bed, sitting with his tail covering his best friends torso. I luckily got him to eat, but I have to put it in a spot that he can reach without moving. And me, well, I'm not doing so well. I just can't stand being without him. I sat up and went downstairs to get food for Toothless. Just his regular basket of fish. I dragged it upstairs and put it in the spot that Toothless wants it at. I sat back down and put one of the fish on a stick. He cooked it for me, and I sat and ate. Just, lost in thought. Just then, I saw what I had been hoping for.

Hiccup's POV

I blinked my eyes open and looked around and saw Astrid.

"HICCUP! YOU'RE OKAY!" She shouted and pounced on me, squeezing me until I almost couldn't breathe.

"Astrid...can't...breathe..." I struggled to get out.

"Sorry. Just got really excited! You were out for a week and a half due to an arrow to the shoulder. I was do worried about you. I never left your side and neither did Toothless." She said as I struggled to get up.

"What's on my chest Astrid?" I asked, still trying to get up.

"That would be Toothless's tail. He's up there sleeping." She said pointing to the top of my headboard. I saw just a black mound.

"Ok well I would like to get up." I tried to lift my arm but it hurt, so I immediately put my arm back down.

"I'll get the tail. You probably shouldn't use your arm for a little just to let it heal." She lifted Toothless's tail and he woke up with a jump,then stared at Astrid. He put his tail back on me.

"Ah come on bud lift your tail." I pat his tail and he realized I was awake, and started licking me. "AGH! Toothless you know that doesn't wash out!"

"He's just excited. Come on, you should say hi to everyone. We've all been worried sick." She said and helped me stand up. Toothless came to my other side and supported me with his head and I had Astrid on my other side.

I sauntered down to the front door and outside. It was the middle of the day, so everyone was out and about doing their own business. Suddenly I was swarmed by a crowd of people telling me 'welcome back hiccup!' And 'the hero of Berk is awake!'

"Out of the way!!" I heard someone shout. Suddenly, a dragon started flapping it's wings above the crowd, making them back up so it could land. I immediately recognized the dragon.

"Oh Hiccup my boy you're ok!" Mom said engulfed me into a hug. I hugged her back we stayed like that for a few seconds.

"What happened to me mom?" I curiously questioned, since I remember nothing but Dagur coming to Berk.

"That's a story for later. Right now, Gobber would like to see you. He's in the forge backed up with dragons needing teeth." Everyone parted a away, making a path for mom, Astrid, Toothless and I. We walked to the forge and as soon as I got there, Gobber greeted me.

"Hiccup you're alive! Glad to see you up and moving." He said an pat my back. And being my size, when you get a pat on the back from someone his size, I fell forward a little.

"Happy to see you too Gobber. Say, where's dad?" I asked curiously. I haven't seen him since before the battle.

"You're father is just concentrating on chief work in the back. Making saddles and serving the village. What he normally does." Mom said and sounded kind of annoyed. Wonder what happened between those two.

"I'm gonna go say hi. Just real quickly then it's off to the academy to say hi to the gang. Astrid, can you tell them to meet there?" I said.

"Yes." She whistled for Stormfly and flew off.

I walked to the back and got applause and cheers from the crowd in front of the order window.

"Uh, hey Dad."

"Hiccup you're okay! Glad to see you healthy-ish." He said looking at the bloody bandage on my right shoulder.

"I guess mom should replace this." I rubbed my shoulder.

"Alright then. Feast tonight at the Great Hall to celebrate your awakening. Spread the word around the village, I'll be here." He said and grabbed some leather. He pat my shoulder and I walked back to mom.

"Ready to go see your friends?" She asked and guided me out of the forge with one hand on my back. I hoped on Toothless and her on Cloudjumper, and off we were.

We got to the academy and I looked at everyone talking to each other. The twins, as usual, were fighting. Snotlout was looking at a reflection of himself in glass, and Fishlegs, well, reading. Astrid cleared her throat but nobody looked up. Toothless shot a plasma blast and everyone jumped.

"Hiccup!!" They shouted in unison. Creepy.

"Hey guys! What did I miss?" I asked as mom replaced the bandage on my shoulder.

"We didn't do anything until you woke up. So, you missed nothing." Tuffnut replied.

"We visited you while you were unconcious. But, Toothless growled at a certain someone when he walked in the door the first time." Stated Fishlegs as he glanced at Snotlout. I just rolled my eyes.

"That's thoughtful of you guys. Thank you." I said as my mom finished my shoulder and Astrid hugged me from behind, resting her head on my shoulder.

"And this one didn't leave your side the entire time. Except to bathe." Ruffnut said as she pointed to Astrid. I intertwined my fingers with her and gave her a peck on the cheek.

"Aww, so cute." Said Ruffnut and Fishlegs while Tuffnut and Snotlout just groaned.

"Feast tonight at the Great Hall. Don't miss it!" I said and mounted Toothless. "I'm gonna head home and rest this arm. It's killing me."

"I'll come with you." Said Astrid.

"I'll be there in a second I have some planning to do." Mom said. Oh gods when is the wedding? Did it get rescheduled? I'll just ask Astrid.

And with that, I flew out of the academy, with Astrid close behind.

I'll see if I can update later tonight, but I have to practice for an archery competition that I have.

Wait, I have two. One Tuesday and another Sunday.
