Thirty-Two

In the weeks that followed, we got well more than a shit ton of reviews for our Midterms and I mean a shit ton. Making me very busy between assignments, studying and VAS stuff. Luckily, Compress and Magne have been trying to do their best to ease my workload, but the way that I have things organized doesn't make it easy on them, sorry you two.

"Shit, how the hell do you do this again?" Toya mumbles to himself, Shinso, my brothers and myself are at Toya's and Keigo's kitchen doing a big study session of the core classes that we all have in common.

"What is it?" I ask, looking over at his paper.

"Finding the fucking area of this abstract art bullshit." Toya gestures to the page, very helpful.

"Well, step one is to use your head." I state before grabbing his paper "Which question?"

"The one without an answer, genius." Toya eye rolls. I don't think I should mention that he did put his name on the paper yet.

"Well, dumbass," I angle the paper where he can look at it, using my pencil to point, "if you divide it into shapes you know you can find the area of the separate shapes then add the two areas together."

"I think it's a good thing you two aren't in the same class." Shinso remarks "I mean I'm damn sure most of class would be you two antagonizing each other."

"Nah, more of her energy would be towards Bakugo or scaring Mineta shitless." Shoto shrugs.

"Which one is Mineta?" I ask.

"The short guy that grew his balls in the wrong spot." Toya snorts "The class's pervert."

"Oh, wouldn't be that difficult to scare him."

"Without a doubt with your experience with Muraku."

"Muraku?" Shinso asks.

I give a sigh "Yamacho, I told ya I know him. His main goal in life is to get me to fall in love with him." I scoff.

"Wait, you know that fucktard?" Toya asks, pointing his pencil at Shinso.

"Yes, his friends with my foster brother Asahi. He's over quite a bit."

"You poor soul." Toya puts his hand over his chest as the front door opens.

"Babe! I'm home!" Keigo calls.

"In the kitchen!" Toya calls back.

Keigo walks in, probably not expecting the three of us "Oh hey Shoto, Azula, and you're the mind control kid, Shinso was it?"

"That's me, friend of Azula's."

"Cool, Takami Keigo."

"The brother-in-law I mentioned." I yawn, leaning back in my chair. Shinso gives a nod as Toya turns a little pink.

"So, you three staying for dinner?" Keigo asks.

"Sure." Shinso answers "I'll let my -er- parents know." before getting up probably to call them in a more private area.

"Anything you guys wantin', but if you say any form of noodles then it's a no."

"Damnit." Toya pouts.

"Butter Shoyu Chicken is always good." I shrug "I can cook if ya want."

"Might be smarter because I have never heard of that." Hawks laughs

"Sure thing." hope he has cast iron pans.

I put my books away before going into the kitchen "Toya says you prefer cast iron pans right? I think I got a couple."

"That's good, I'll need your help to get the stuff."

"Sure thing."

He hands me the pan and I start listing all that I need, grabbing the utensils then prepping the chicken thighs by cutting them in half, pricking the skin with the tip of the knife, and seasoning both sides with salt and pepper before putting them to the side to mix the sauce up so it'll be ready for the pan in a bit.

I grab the pan in my right hand, the raw chicken next to me on the cutting board "Keigo can you steam some broccoli and cauliflower please." I called out once I got some chicken sizzling in the pan.

"Sure thing, give me a sec!"

"So what are you making?" Shinso asks, walking into the kitchen.

"Butter Shoyu Chicken." I tell him, getting the leftover oil out of the pan with a paper towel before I add the piece of butter and half of the sauce. I can't use all of it because the pan can only fit six of the thigh chunks.

"Huh, is it any good?"

"You can let me know once it's all done." I put the cooked chicken on a plate, pouring the excess sauce in a separate bowl before repeating the cooking process.

"What if I-"

"Shinso Hitoshi, I swear to murdering Ozai, if you stick your finger in the sauce I will smack you possibly with this very skillet."

"I WARNED YA!" I hear Toya yell from the living room area.

"And if I used my quirk on you?" my friend smirks, while I shoot him a glare, lifting up the skillet.

"Point taken, let me know if you need any help." he starts to walk off, stops before shaking his head and leaving the kitchen.

"Okay, I'm here." Keigo smiles, walking in "You said steamed broccoli and cauliflower right?"

"Yeah, here I can move." I take the skillet with me over to the counter, chicken cooking just fine despite being off the stove.

"Thank you." he starts prepping the veggies, whistling a little as he goes.

It feels nice cooking again. I haven't done much in years; just off and on for myself late at night, always figured Dabi would realize it was me from my food. Helps get any emotion out, especially if I'm having to tenderize something, and feel nice when people enjoy it. Gives me something to be proud of outside of fighting.

"You might want to put the chicken in the microwave to stay warm. It'll be a bit before the water is even boiling." Keigo suggests as I place the last of the meat on the plate and pour the sauce out of the pan.

"Alright, just give me a second." I tell him, I just need to clean off the skillet while I got it hot so that it doesn't become a pain in the ass to clean out later.

I wipe it out before rinsing the pan in the skillet and heating it back up so that it dries without rusting. I'll season it later, my hand hurts a bit.

I go to the living room, plop myself next to my twin. Shit I need to sleep, I haven't had much in the past few days. I'll try to get some sleep later.

"Hey 'Zu, you want to spend the night?" Toya asks, glancing between his phone and the TV.

"Sure." I don't have anything other than papers to do, but they can wait until tomorrow.

"–This just in, the body of a man missing its head is found just along Takobah Beach. Police believe it's that of Mr. Aburaya Hayato, an underground middleman in dealing illegal Support gear to villains. If you have any information, we ask that you call the non-emergency number. In other...–"

I let out an exhale, though a little stiff. I was wondering what Giran did with the body. Guess he just had someone dump it in the ocean, or could've just skipped it entirely and just dropped it off. But I'm assuming it's the former since it's only now just getting found. As long as it doesn't get traced to me it should be fine.

I received a short text from Giran himself: "I got the head taxidermied, wondering if you want to keep it, since it was your first kill. Just let me know, Your Majesty."

Damnit, worry about it later. You're not the Quirkless Queen right now, you can deal with that shit later. "Food's ready!" Keigo calls, shoving the news into the back of my head for now.

The food was good, no surprise there, and, as it turns out, the Gesuyarōs had something tonight that Shinso didn't need/want to go to so he is staying the night too. Shoto didn't feel like staying so Toya and Keigo are going to take him back to the estate after dinner. Toya has something he wants to talk with Dad about.

"Be back in a while." Keigo waves as he leaves, setting the alarm and locking the door behind him.

"Well, the bedroom is upstairs on the right." I tell Shinso, "I'll sleep on the couch."

"I can take the couch." Shinso argues.

"I know you can, but you're not."

"Oh yeah?"

"Ye-" Goddamnit Shinso my mind goes a little foggy. My hands that were initially crossed fell to my sides, my right palm, that had turned out to be a bit burnt from cooking, taps my thigh sending a shock of pain that snaps Shinso's quirk. But I don't think he realizes it as he looks down, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Sorry. Please don't cut my dick off after this." he steps forward then, in one swift motion, lifts my head up before pressing his lips against mine.
