Is It Really Throwing Away Money If It's Blood Money?
The next morning, Kevin and Barbara were still sleeping in the guest bedroom of Dinah's house. Kevin was still cuddled up on top of Barbara as the beautiful redhead held him in her arms. As the sun shone light on to Barbara's face, she slowly woke up and saw Kevin sleeping. He looked peaceful, making her smile. Kevin then yawned and snorted, starting to wake up. This made Babs giggle. Kevin sleepily looked at Barbara and said, "morning Babs."
"Morning to you too Kevin," replied Barbara, "how did you sleep?" Kevin flipped onto his backside, starting to straighten up. "I slept alright," said Kevin, "I actually felt safe with you holding me." He sat up straight. "Good," said Babs, "let's get some breakfast and then get back to Gotham." She and Kevin got out of the guest room and wandered over to Dinah's kitchen. Dinah was still in her pajamas, this time drinking a cup of coffee. "Morning you two," she said. "Morning Dinah," replied Kevin, "mind if I cook some waffles with your waffle maker for breakfast?" Dinah smiled and said, "by all means, Kevin."
Kevin then proceeded to make a batch of waffles for him and Barbara. They enjoyed the batch of waffles made by Kevin, and they were quite delicious, made just right. And they paired quite well with the cup of coffee. 30 minutes later, breakfast was finished, and Kevin and Barbara decided to go back to Gotham. As they said goodbye to Dinah outside, the blonde bombshell said, "you two be safe now, alright? And hang in there, Kevin." Kevin nodded and said, "will do. Thanks for listening." Dinah tussled up Kevin's hair and said, "of course. That's what I'm here for." Kevin and Barbara got into her car and then drove off, leaving Star City. A couple hours later, they were back in Gotham City. Barbara drove all the way to Wayne Manor and stopped her car outside. "Thanks for being there for me Babs," said Kevin. "No problem, Kev," replied Barbara, "everything's going to be alright. I know it. See you after my library shift tonight?" Kevin opened the passenger door and replied, "you will. I'll update you when everything's blown over." Barbara smiled and said, "alright then. Take care." She then kissed Kevin on the cheek, surprising him. He blushed hard, stroking the part where he was kissed. Kevin then got out of the car as Babs drove away. He went inside the Manor and said, "Dad? Alfred? I'm home!" Kevin wandered into the living room and saw his father Bruce speaking to a man who looked to be around Bruce's age. He had brown hair with gray sideburns and a brown goatee. He was wearing a black suit and tie with black sunglasses lying on top of his white dress shirt.
"Kevin, I'm glad you made it home safely," said Bruce, "I'd like to introduce you to an old friend of mine. This is my old college friend Ed Dailey. He's now an agent of the FBI." Ed looked at Kevin and said, "hello Mr Wayne, I'm Agent Dailey. I must say, you have your father's looks." The FBI agent offered his hand and Kevin shook his hand. "Nice to meet you Agent Dailey," said Kevin, "how much did my dad tell you about the blood money?"
"The basic information," said Agent Dailey, "your mother's fake pseudonym, the $30 million in your savings account, and how 'Irene Adler' as she's been calling herself these last 11 years collected that money. Before I came to Gotham, I did my homework on The Phantasm. I met your grandfather Carl Beaumont once when I was around your age. Decent guy, made business with the wrong people. Felt bad for him." Kevin gave a worried look and asked, "I'm not going to go to jail for carrying this blood money, am I?" Agent Dailey raised the palm of his hand halfway and replied, "since you and your father were unaware of the money being transferred to your savings account, you will not be charged for anything that could warrant an arrest. Your father and I will see to it that you do not face any legal trouble. However, the $30 million you possess in your savings account is considered criminal evidence. I would advise that you withdraw this money from your savings account and give it to the FBI for evidence. We'll take care of it. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated, Mr Wayne" Kevin sighed in relief, "that's actually doable. I'm willing to give that money to you guys. Guess I'm not really throwing away money if it's blood money." Agent Dailey smiled and said, "glad we could come to an agreement. Now how about we go to the bank?"
An hour later, Kevin, Bruce, Agent Dailey and Alfred were at the First National Bank of Gotham, waiting in line. A couple minutes later, it was time for Kevin to speak to the bank teller. "Hello Mr. Wayne," said the teller, "how can we help you today?" Agent Dailey stood next to Kevin as the young man said, "I'd like to withdraw my money into cash please. Specifically savings." The teller nodded and asked in reply, "how much would you like to cash out?" Agent Dailey nodded and Kevin replied, "$30 million." The bank teller's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates and Agent Dailey replied, "it's criminal evidence that Mr Wayne will be giving to the FBI." He showed the bank teller his FBI badge to show that he wasn't bluffing. The teller nodded and said, "we'll be sure to give you that money right away, Agent Dailey. Give us a few moments." The $30 million was withdrawn from Kevin's savings account, now leaving him with just $1 million in his savings account as $30 million in cash was collected and given to Agent Dailey. "Thank you both again for cooperating," said Agent Dailey, "we'll store this money into the criminal evidence locker when I return to the FBI office." He gave Kevin his business card which contained his phone number and said, "if your mother Andrea Beaumont attempts to give you any more money into your savings account again, please don't hesitate to contact me." Kevin nodded and said, "thank you again Agent Dailey. Pleasure doing business with you." Agent Dailey put on his sunglasses and said, "of course. It was good to see you again Bruce. Take care of yourself." The agent left the bank, and Bruce said, "Kevin, I know that you're against having more than a million dollars in your bank account, but you've been a good sport under these circumstances, so how would you like it if I gave you an additional million dollars? One million for checking and another million for savings? I believe you've earned it." Kevin shrugged and said, "sure, why not?"
