TWENTY-ONE

This dining hall is massive. It rivals the Great Hall in size. There are dozens and dozens of round tables scattered around the room. All different sorts of people were sitting at the tables, talking. People with pink hair, people with bright yellow eyes. So many people.

I scanned the room for Regulus. (Should I call him Uncle Regulus? It feels a bit odd; I mean I just found out he's not dead mere hours ago!) I finally found him at a table in the back of the room. All the seats around him were taken, save for one, right next to him.

I started making my way towards him, muttering apologies when I would bump into someone.

I went to the open seat. "Is this seat taken?" I asked, gesturing to the empty seat.

Regulus looked up at me with bright eyes. "No! I was saving it for you!" He exclaimed rather happily.

I smiled nervously and sat down. Immediately, a house elf swept in and sat a plate full of delicious looking food in front of me.

I turned, startled, to thank the house elf, but he or she had already gone.

I looked at everyone else at the table. They were already eating, so I assume I can eat too?

Yes, that was meant to be a question.

Fluffy pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and an apple were on my plate. I immediately dove into the eggs.

Regulus watched me, seemingly amused.

Seeing this, I stopped eating. "How did you sleep?" I asked, sitting my fork down for the moment.

"Fine. And you?" he chuckled.

"Not bad," I responded.

I ate some of the sausage as I waited for his next question.

"Do you wish to return home right after you finish breakfast?"

"If it's not a problem," I answered hesitantly.

"No, it's not," he assured me with a small smile.

"Thank you," I said quietly.

"Do you think your father would want to see me?" he asked me hesitantly.

I thought about that. Finding out I was lied to for years and years? I'd be fuming. Dad and I have similar tempers, so I assume he would be the same. I would need time to calm down. Dad has had over seventeen years to grieve over his brother.... Would he want to see him?

He was extremely relieved after he found out I wasn't dead, but that was only after what... three days?

"I think you should see what his response is to your letter. I think he's going to need some time to digest this new information," I answered honestly.

Regulus nodded.

"You're probably right. He's going to be extremely... unhappy with me, isn't he?"

"Probably," I replied, not needing time to think about this answer.

"I don't blame him. It was horrible of me to do what I did."

"No, it's not. You were frightened. Voldemort was extremely powerful."

"Was," he paused, "Indeed, he was. But, he's not here to rule in terror anymore. That's why I was thinking of slowly making my return to society," he finished.

"I think that would be a great idea," I replied.

He smiled. It actually reached his eyes this time.

"You really think so?"

"I do."

He looked down at his lap, almost bashfully.

He was silent for a time, so I finished my breakfast. I didn't realize how hungry I was! I finished everything on my plate! How long has it been since I did that? Well, how long since before last night?

"Are you ready to go?" He questioned.

I nodded.

He looked to two women and nodded.

They smiled warmly and stood up, seemingly waiting for me to get up and follow them.

I hesitantly (and rather awkwardly) hugged Regulus.

"I'll get my dad's response back to you one way or another," I whispered in his ear.

He smiled. "I know. Be safe," he responded.

I gave him one last small smile before turning and following the women out of the dining hall.

"So you're Regulus's infamous niece, huh?" one of the women asked, turning her head to look at me as we walked down a corridor.

"That's me," I answered.

"He's quite fond of you. Won't shut up about how smart you are. How you're the epitome of a Gryffindor."

I felt myself blush. I looked at the ground.

"He's exaggerating. I'm no where near as perfect as he's saying."

Both of the women laughed as we turned a corner.

"Well of course you're not. No one's perfect."

"Right," I said awkwardly.
——
I will always be creeped out by Knockturn Alley, no matter how many times I come here.

The two women just apparated back to the underground.

I mentally went over how to get to the underground again. Go to Knockturn Alley. Go into the abandoned shop by Borgin and Burke's. Put wand into hole in wall. Once wall opens, step in then apparate. You'll appear in the middle of nowhere. Look around for the trunk. Tap trunk with wand. Trunk will open. Step into trunk. Go down the stairs. Turn right. Turn right again. Turn left. Turn left. Turn right. Then I should be in the room Braxton and McClure took me to yesterday.

I repeated the directions in my head multiple times.

Looking around carefully, I stepped out of Knockturn Alley.

I made my way to the shop. I pulled the key out of my pocket and unlocked the door.

I went upstairs. I opened the door to my flat, only to be met with gasps of surprise.

I furrowed my brow. Everyone from the Weasley family is here. And Dad and Harry. Even Sammy and Draco are here.

"Elle! Where have you been, dearie?" shrieked Molly.

"We've been worried sick! I went to pick up Callie and when I got back you weren't here!" George nearly shouted.

"Fred wanted to help search! He's finally remembered who you are!" Harry chimed in.

"Don't ever scare me like that again!" Dad said as he hugged me.

"Woah, woah! Everyone, quiet!" I yelled, overwhelmed.

I looked at Harry. "What do you mean, Fred's finally remembered who I am?"
