THIRTY-FOUR
"Okay, so we're gonna try again tomorrow?" Molly asked me as she sat down on the couch.
We were at the Burrow a couple of months later discussing last minute wedding details. Even though we had tried to have the wedding earlier, there still managed to be loose ends that needed tying up.
Fred and I looked at each other and nodded.
"And Elle, you're staying the night again?"
I nodded.
"You're going back to your flat, Fred?"
Now Fred nodded.
"Okay."
——
"Alright, let's do all this again! Into the bathroom, change into the robe!" Sammy exclaimed as she dragged me out of bed again.
I groaned but did as I was told. I'm finally getting married! At this time tomorrow I will be Mrs. Fred Weasley. Merlin, I cannot believe it!
As I got up I tried to push away the familiar pain of my mother's absence. She wouldn't want me to be sad. So instead I imagined her, her blonde hair flowing as she smiled at me. She was with me no matter what. It didn't hurt as much when I imagined her here.
Ginny pushed me into a chair in front of the same vanity as last time. She recreated the same makeup look from the day of the original wedding, changing it just a tad.
Sammy cast charms and tugged my hair into the same hairstyle she had last time. The elegant messy bun with pieces curled around my face looked amazing.
The girls managed to get me into my dress, zipping it up in the back. I didn't slip on my heels yet, as we still had time before the wedding itself started.
Sammy and I did the bridesmaids' hair and helped them into their dresses. I helped do Sammy's hair and zipped up her dress for her.
Things went quicker this time. After the last attempt, we were practically wedding pros. Even before my wedding there had been others, Fleur's and Betty's being examples. We are experts. Well, maybe not experts but you get what I'm saying.
The wedding starts in half an hour. Half. An. Hour!
I started slipping on my heels, as I was going to go down the stairs slowly. I can't afford to fall and break my face on the real wedding day.
The others did the same and followed me down the stairs.
At least a good ten minutes later, I was finally on the ground floor of the Burrow.
Everyone lined up yet again, leaving me to stand alone and wait for my dad.
"I can't believe my baby girl is getting married," Dad said quietly as he approached me.
I hugged him tightly. "I know. I can't either."
We heard the music start, so Dad and I looked up at the ceiling, as if the music was coming from there exactly.
"It's time," Dad said, holding his arm out for me.
I smiled softly and took it, waiting for everyone to be down the aisle.
As I stepped up to the curtain separating me from Fred, I felt the butterflies start.
I had to take deep breaths to remind myself that all would be okay. Dad and I started walking. We didn't have to pause to wait for the curtain to be drawn back.
There he is. My eyes met his and a grin spread upon my face. I could see tears already falling down his cheek.
The butterflies went away immediately. Fred's grin was the only thing I was concentrating on.
Once we reached the altar, Dad gave my hand to Fred, smiling at both of us.
I stepped up onto the altar, my eyes on Fred's the whole time. I was sure I had tears flowing down my face, ruining my makeup but I didn't care. I was getting married to the man of my dreams. I'd been waiting for this for ages.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Frederick Gideon Weasley and Elle Ray Black in matrimony," Kingsley started.
I tuned him out from there, as I allowed myself to get lost in Fred's eyes.
"I do," I heard Fred say, bringing me back to Earth.
"And do you, Elle, take Fred to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you apart?"
"I do," I said proudly, beaming at Fred. He beamed right back at me. The sight of him in his tux was amazing, let me say.
We exchanged rings, brought to us by Ben. I was shaking slightly as he slipped the band on my finger.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may now kiss the bride!" Kingsley announced with a smile.
I grinned as Fred drew me nearer and dipped me in a kiss.
I pulled away first. I don't want to have a make out session in front of all of our family and friends!
Fred brought me back up, smirking as he did so.
——
Fred and I were holding hands under the table, watching everyone eat at the reception. I had finished and so had Fred. Regulus and Dad were laughing with Kingsley, Percy and Audrey were talking to Harry, and Draco was filling up Sam's glass. Everyone was talking; there were no barriers between everyone. At least not like there was before the war.
Before long, it was announced that it was time for the dances.
Fred danced with Molly first. It was adorable, seeing him twirl his mum around on the dance floor.
Dad and I danced after them. "I'm so proud of you," Dad told me as we were dancing.
"Thank you, Dad," I responded with a smile.
Dad and I were pretty much silent during this whole thing. I knew Dad was taken back to his and Mum's wedding, so I didn't bother him.
Next was Fred and I'd first dance as husband and wife. I grinned as Aerosmith's I Don't Want to Miss A Thing started playing.
Fred and I loved this song. It played during the movie that Fred and I seen on our first real date, which is when we fell in love with it.
"I'm so, so happy, Elle," Fred murmured.
"As am I," I replied.
"Or should I say Mrs. Weasley?" He said with a smirk.
I laughed. "No, that makes me sound old!"
Fred laughed and twirled me around.
When the song ended, Fred and I stayed on the dance floor.
Fred and I danced until our feet hurt. Right as we were going to sit down, Draco approached me.
"May I have this dance?" He drawled with a slight smirk on his face.
I nodded, smiling.
"So now you're Mrs. Weasle-bee."
I chuckled. "Indeed I am. You got any plans to make Sam Mrs. Malfoy?" I asked with a slight smirk.
Draco shrugged. "We haven't even been dating a year yet. She wouldn't want to rush into it."
"But you are thinking about it?"
I noticed the faint tint of pink that rose to Draco's cheeks. "Oh, so you are!"
He stayed silent. That's all the answer I need. Sam will really be family one day! I mean, she's always been my sister but not by blood, unfortunately.
——
Fred closed the door of our hotel room behind him. We left for our honeymoon right after the reception ended. So now we're in Italy.
In a mere moment, I was pinned against the wall, his lips on my neck. They made their way up to my lips. He kissed me with feverish passion. One hand was on my neck, while the other was on my waist.
I tangled my hands in his hair, kissing him back just as passionately.
His lips left mine, traveling down my jaw and to my neck.
His hands reached around to the back of my dress, while he kissed my collarbone.
The dress fell to the floor once he got it unzipped.
May the fifteenth has been the best day of my life.
