THIRTY-FIVE

2 Years Later...
My grip on Fred's hand tightened as a wave of pain hit. I squeezed my lips shut in a line, willing myself not to scream.

I'm no weak woman. I'm not going to scream. Besides, it'll only waste my energy.

"You're doing wonderful, love."

I opened my eyes and glared at Fred. Why can't he understand that I don't want to be talked to?

"Okay, Mrs. Weasley. It's time to push!" The healer announced brightly.

I took a deep breath and pushed.
——
I was breathing heavily, my heart pounding and sweat rolling down my face as a baby boy was put into my arms.

My face exploded into a grin as Fred put his hand on the back of my head and kissed my hair.

"He's beautiful," Fred murmured into my ear.

"He is," I agreed softly, putting my hand on his little chest.

"What's his name?" A healer asked, writing out the rest of the birth certificate.

Fred and I exchanged a glance before I told her, "Brady Max Weasley."

Fred and I had agreed on this name before hand.

"That's beautiful," she said absentmindedly as she wrote it down.

"So, Brady Max Weasley was born at 4:12 p.m. on May the twentieth, 2001, here at St. Mungo's Hospital in London," she announced as she handed the birth certificate to Fred.

I was beaming, as was Fred. I couldn't stop staring at the little bundle in my arms.

So, Victoire was born nearly a month ago. Brady already has a playmate! Callie has Teddy and Brady has Victoire!

He has strawberry-blond hair and blue eyes like his father. I know all babies are born with blue eyes so I can only hope that they stay that way.

Brady yawned and wrapped his tiny hand around my index finger. My heart swelled at the gesture. I'm a mother now.

Fred went to go get George, Callie, and Dad, so that they could meet Brady.

Dad immediately latched onto him, not letting anyone else hold him for a good half an hour.
——
Fred and I had moved out of the flat as soon as we found out I was pregnant. We live in a cottage in the woods, about two miles from the Burrow.

The cottage has three bedrooms, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a living room, and a mini office/library for Fred and I.

I was cradling Brady in my arms as I watched Fred fumble with the cot in our room. I had to bite back some laughs a couple of times because of how ridiculous he looked. I suppose it hasn't yet occurred to him that he could use magic to put it together.

"Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?"

"I said that out loud?"

"Indeed you did, love."

I shrugged, careful not to wake the sleeping baby in my arms.

We've been home a grand total of three hours and I'm already exhausted.

"Got it!" Fred exclaimed as the cot was putting itself together.

"Shhh!"

He winced. "Right. Sorry," he whispered, looking at Brady.

I laid him down gently before going over to Fred and I's bed, collapsing onto it.

I was asleep as soon as my head hit the mattress.
——
"Is Brady ready for the welcome home party?"

"Yes, Frederick. I got him ready!" I told Fred after both Brady and I had woken up from our naps.

I was in a pair of jeans, Converse, and a decent shirt. This is the best you're going to get me in.

Brady was in a red and gold onesie, representing Gryffindor.

Molly had insisted on a welcome home party at our cottage. She wanted us to be here so that we could put Brady down for bed whenever we needed.

She also knew there was no chance she was going to get me out of the house. At least she understands. Fred certainly doesn't. He expects me to do everything! Sure, sure it could be the exhaustion making me think so, but babies are hard work! He expects me to bounce back! Well, actually I'm sure he doesn't, but still. I suppose I'm just irritable. After all, a baby, a tiny human just came out of me not too long ago. How could someone not be irritable?

Brady and I were chilling on the couch, allowing Fred to run around the cottage, doing last minute cleaning.

Once everyone began arriving, Brady was taken out of my arms and passed around.

Sammy came and sat down beside me, allowing me to put my head on her shoulder.

"Tired?"

"You have no idea."

She held up her hand, showing off a huge diamond ring. I bolted up, my eyes wide as I looked at her. "He proposed?"

She nodded, grinning from ear to ear.

I shrieked and hugged her tightly. "I'm so happy for you!"

"Thank you!"

"Where is Draco anyway?" I asked, looking around the room.

"He's still at the Ministry. He sent me an owl telling me he'd be late. Don't worry, he's coming."

"Okay, good."

The evening went on perfectly. Everyone was laughing at Teddy and Callie's antics and oohing over everything Brady and Victoire did.

Everyone started leaving after I put Brady down for bed.

I was grateful when the house was empty, leaving me to curl up in Fred's arms in bed.

Even though I'm more exhausted than I've ever been, everything is finally perfect.
——
And that is the end of Awakening!

Happy Birthday, Elle!
