Edward POV
"As I've told you already, I track magical imprints. I cannot sense neither Saron nor the rest of them anywhere," Saira repeated for what seemed to be the thousandth time to an infuriated Zion.
"How could you let this happen? You're her FATHER!" Zion snarled, stepping menacingly in my direction.
"Incase it slipped your mind, we were outnumbered and held by magic by the most powerful supernaturals to exist."
"There has to be something we can do. It's been three days," Star persisted, sheer determination in her eyes.
"Why can't you find the cabin again?" Tom asked, rubbing his temples in frustration.
"I only get images. Saron is connected to the Earth so she was able to take us there. Without her, I wouldn't have been able to get there on my own unless someone else was able to recognize the area. We have no such person. There are probably millions of cabins scattered across the globe that looked like the one we were held in. Finding it would be nearly impossible. The best thing we can do is wait for her to break free and return to us," Saira explained.
"I should've never let her go," Zion growled, punching a nearby wall with such force his fist blew straight through.
"It's best if you all return to Wings. We have some things we need to discuss with your Headmaster."
"What things?" Joel asked, curiously.
"Things that don't concern children. Out," Saira ordered.
"If you think I'm going to listen to a word you say after you kidnapped my mate and left her stranded with-"
"Zion," Jeremy said carefully, placing a hand tentatively on his shoulder. From his wide eyes and quivering bottom lip, I could tell he was afraid if he came on too strong he'd be the next punching bag Zion decided to release his rage upon.
Having had enough, I stepped forward looking Zion square in the eye before saying, "You're my daughters mate so I understand your anger. But I'm not the enemy here. Every second you waste on pointless tantrums, Liam could be nearer and if we don't find another witch soon we are all doomed."
Reluctantly, he stepped back before walking away, not taking his eyes off of me for one second before he stepped out. The others quickly followed him, leaving me and Saira alone in the room at last.
"Are we clear?"
Focusing my hearing until I could hear the receding footsteps get far enough to no longer be able to listen in to our conversation, I pulled her deeper into the room before nodding.
"Esat? She's safe?"
"For now. But we need to get Saron before it's too late. It's already been too long."
"Then what're we waiting for?"
Grabbing her hand, I whisked her away until we landed at the door of Snow's office. I quickly opened the door, allowing Saira to enter before I shut the door behind me.
"Took you long enough."
"Her mate wouldn't leave us be," Saira replied, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
"Shall we?" I asked, turning to both Saira and Snow who nodded in agreement.
Taking a deep breath, Snow walked towards us shakily before firmly gripping on each of our wrists.
"Are you sure you'll be able to do this?"
"Of course I can. What do you take me for, an amateur?"
"Never that."
"Allimaer transicate loerase Saron."
"Allimaer transicate loerase Saron."
"Allimaer transicate loerase Saron."
With each chant, I could feel the wind around us quickening in speed as the air around us began to swirl. I could feel the magic working as a tornado of energy formed around us, lifting us up in the air before sucking us out of the office. I could feel us zooming through time and space as Snow continued chanting before we landed roughly in a meadow rich with flowers and plants of all kinds. I recognized the tall grass immediately. We were not too far off from where we had landed the first time.
I brushed myself off before rising to my feet and lending a hand to Saira who had landed right beside me.
"Bloody hell," Saira said, grabbing my hand and jumping up before taking off running in the opposite direction.
I took off after her once I saw who she was running to. Snow was lying near the edge of the meadow, her head rested on the base of a tree as blood trickled out of her nose and ears.
"I'm alright," she croaked, shooting us a grin I could tell she was forcing.
Noticing our concerned expressions, she sat up, holding on to the tree for support before standing.
"I'll be fine. The journey was just a bit more draining than I'd expected."
Frowning, I nodded as the plan began to formulate in my mind, reminding me of our purpose. Despite her weakened state, our top priority was recovering Saron. Familiar with the torture techniques of the Five, I knew better than anyone how much damage three days could've done to her.
"Remember, our top priority is to knock them all out. Including Saron. We can assess the damage after we've returned. Engaging them in a fight would be foolish, we're outnumbered and outskilled. Saira, stay by Snow's side. Since they've smothered their abilities to mask their own magic, they shouldn't be able to sense us coming. Not if we're careful. If we do this right, we should be able to get back in one piece. If anything goes wrong, save Saron. Forget about me."
Taking their silence as acceptance, I started to make my way through the field slowly and carefully with them on my tail. After a few minutes, I could see the cabin in sight. I turned around, placing a finger to my mouth before flitting quickly to the entrance. After pressing my ear to the door, I was able to make out laughter and chatter. I searched for any opening, anything I could drop the knockout gas through. I found two cracks in the cabin, near the windows. Likely damage from when Sarav had thrown Saron clean through the window. She had the worst temper of the bunch. I slipped two small bottles of the gas through each crack leaving them cracked open to allow the gas to escape making its way through the house. I stepped back, waiting and preparing myself for anything.
I turned around, noticing Saira in the position we had discussed behind the tree and out of sight. Snow was beside her, leaning heavily against the tree as she continued to breathe raggedly.
"Caesar? Sam? What happened here?" Bay's voice questioned.
I ducked beneath the window as I heard movement from within the house.
"Is it the hybrid?" Sarav asked, unable to hide the astonishment in her voice.
"Impossible. She's not awake yet."
I felt my nails dig into the dirt beneath me as the realization sank in. If she wasn't awake, they had been using mind torture. Clenching my fists in anger, I threw all caution to the wind as I walked towards the door, chucking it open so hard it blew off its hinges. Bay stood, frozen in the hallway staring in confusion as I flung another gas bomb at her. Before she could react, it collided with her body sending her crashing to the ground unconscious.
"You saved me the work of having to find you."
I swirled around as I felt a tree branch come crashing against my face. As I tried to reach into my pocket to retrieve a gas bomb, I felt myself go tumbling out of the house, my remaining gas bomb dropping out of my pocket as I went crashing against a tree a couple feet away. I scrambled to my feet as I heard her hollow footsteps quickly making their way towards me. Catching the eye of Saira who was now at the front of the house I nodded before rising to my feet and sprinting towards Sarav. Surprised, she shot up in the air to avoid my frontal attack but not before I was able to grab the heel of her right foot. I pulled her to the ground before landing a punch to her stomach, knocking the breath out of her. That was all I could accomplish before I too felt a powerful punch sock me in the jaw. I heard my jaw crack from the force and opened my mouth to spit out the blood that was filling my mouth. I quickly snapped my jaw back in place as I rose to my feet.
"You've always been naive Edward. Did you really think it'd be that easy to take us all out and rescue your freak daughter?"
"Speak about my daughter like that again and I'll sever your head clean from your body."
"I'd like to see you try," she snarled.
Throwing my head back, I let out a yell that transformed into a roar as I awakened my werewolf side. Within seconds, my body transformed into my werewolf. I stared down at her, teeth bared before digging my claws into the dirt in preparation of my attack. With a threatening growl, I sprang from my spot after her, grabbing her by the corner of her wing with my sharp talon before flinging her across the field straight into a tree. I watched the tree come crashing down as she was caught within it. Turning around, I saw Saira within the house struggling to drag a limp Saron out of the house. Looking back to see Sarav, still struggling to pluck her body out of the tree, I decided to turn back and help Saira. Within seconds, I was at her feet kneeling as I urged her to climb upon my back with Saron. Once they were on my back, I took off towards where Snow was still leaning against the tree. I lowered my head, allowing Saira to pull her up onto my back before I took off running at a brisk pace. I turned my head to look at Saira, letting her know it was time.
"Snow, can you get us out of here?"
Coughing, I could feel her rustling on my back sitting up straight before starting to chant, "Allimaer transicate loerase Academirse."
"Allimaer transicate loerase...Academirse."
"Allimaer...transicate...loerase.........Academirse."
As her chanting slowed, I could feel her weakening. The air around us that had been swirling, began to slow as well.
"Snow, I know you're tired but we need you," Saira pleaded.
I heard the flapping of wings closing the distance between us. I growled in realization that Sarav was closing in on us. I picked up the pace, running even quicker.
"Allimaer transicate loerase Academirse."
"Allimaer transicate loerase Academirse."
Despite her voice cracking every now and then, Snow had begun chanting once again. From the wet spots of blood landing on my back every so often, I could sense she didn't have much left in her. If she kept bleeding like this, she wouldn't be conscious much longer.
Finally, I could feel the air begin to suck us away as I began to rise in the air. The sudden pause in movement gave Sarav what she needed to finally catch up to us. I didn't notice until it was too late. I didn't see what was coming next. I heard it. And by the time I realized what it was, it was too late. The piercing scream of Saira's voice was all I heard before I felt the weight on my back lightened. I heard the whoosh of air as she fell off my back, tumbling through the air and to the ground.
I growled in fury as I attempted to jump after her. But it was too late, we were already being pulled away and all we could do was watch her falling body, become smaller and smaller until we couldn't see anything at all. Nothing but the clean floorboards of Snow's office as we dropped down upon them.
