Since Petra couldn't leave the house, I took Reuben on a walk in the woods to the tree house. I walked around and saw the aging tree... 

  I walked around the tree and kicked a loose board back in place. And a cough startled me. I turned around to see- 

  "Mom?" I said and saw the familiar figure in the morning mist. "Hello, Jesse." she said calmly, not like her usual self.

 "What- what are you doing here?" I asked slowly and patted Reuben, who was growling. 

  "I'm not here to hurt you, Jesse." she said and held out a hand. "And I am actually not your mother." she said suddenly, which made me laugh nervously. 

  "Too late to say that. I've been raising myself for years, so yeah-" 

  "I'm really not your mother. But it's best if they explain." I stepped back and glared at her. "Who's they?" I asked and she smiled. "You'll see." 

  And the last thing I saw was darkness.
