4."Dark brightness"

Flashback

A week after the shocker of Chaelin and Jimin dating I had started to recover. Lazily I was walking through the hall, not hurrying up for class even though I was super late.

"Cinder!", I heard someone call my name.

Not caring about class I followed that voice. Behind the wall was Jimin.
Grunting I rolled my eyes at him and wanted to leave, however Jimins strong hands held me back.

"Stay here.", he whispered looking around, checking if anyone was there.

"What do you want?", I sighed.

"I want to check up on you. Are you doing okay?"

A little laugh escaped my lips but Jimin was quick to shush me down.

"Of course I'm doing great.", I replied

Jimin's dark eyes were staring at me, he was trying to read me. Chaelin had told me how amazing he was at 'reading' people. However Jimin and I both knew he couldn't read me and that frustrated him to a maximum.

"Are you mad that I'm with Chaelin?", he tilted his head sounding very earnest.

"Pffft, what? Why should I?"

"I get that vibe!"

"Wrong vibe.", I replied rolling my eyes.

There was a long silence, which however didn't feel awkward. It felt as if the bell would ring every second and students would appear from every corner.

"I don't know why I'm with Chaelin.", he suddenly confessed, probably also feeling pressured by the fact that the bell was about to ring.

Instead of replying I stood there in front of him, my mouth dropped open. In a matter of seconds, his arms were wrapped around me and his lips on mine. Shocked I took a step back but he was holding me firmly in his grip.
The bell rang and he let me take a step back finally.

My eyes were still shocked wide open as I was staring at him in disbelief.
With shaky hands he reached out for mine, in the palm of his hand a necklace.

"Jimin!", one of his friends shouted.

And that was my call to get away from him.

End of flashback

"Why do you still have it?", my shaky hands were struggling to hold the box.

"I don't know.", he whispered, his voice suddenly sounding extremely weak.

"Jimin!", Chaelin was coming upstairs.

Hastily I packed the box into my bag even though I didn't want to keep it. Chaelin's expression softened when she saw the two of us. If she only knew.

"Jimin we're leaving. Bye sweetheart!", my step sister kissed me on my cheek which caused me to get goosebumps.

Weirdly Jimin and I were awkwardly standing still. There was so much to talk about, he couldn't leave now.

"Say bye to my sister?", Chaelin demanded him.

He nodded and came closer for a hug. It was a weird hug and I didn't know what to feel.

"Bye.", I mumbled.

"See you.", he stepped back.

From the window I watched them leave. And I couldn't explain why something was feeling so wrong but right at the same time.

Being on campus again felt great. My roommates didn't know that I would leave which was why they were confused when I arrived. However, I clearly saw the spark in Mina's eyes when I came into the kitchen.

"Don't get me wrong but I'm so happy that you were also at home! I know it's rough for you with your family, but on Christmas everyone should be with people they love!", Mina smiled joyfully at me causing me to chuckle.

Love wasn't the feeling I felt when I was with my family. I bluntly felt nothing while being with them. Comparing it to being with Jungkook however, showed me a sneak peak of what love could be like. The stomach full of butterflies and the feeling as if one was dreaming and scared you would wake up.

"Yeah, you also look different.", Veronica, my other roommate nodded at me.

"Yes right! You look better, before that you looked a little little little bit worn out! But still good of course!", Mina stood up and handed me a cup of tea.

Ignoring the urge to get mad I simply thanked them and drank my tea.

Just like I had planned I immediately went for looking after Jungkook. Panik rose when he was nowhere to be found in the library. With only a little bit of hope left I went to the old library, feeling my heart drop when I saw him sitting in front of it.

"Jungkook!", I ran towards him suddenly feeling tears swelling up in my eyes.

Immediately his head shot up and a bright smile was forming on his lips. He stood up and reached out his hands. I ran into his arms and felt that healing feeling of safety again when he wrapped his strong arms around me.

"I'm so sorry.", I whispered into his chest, trying to enjoy this moment as much as possible.

"What for?", he mumbled still holding me tight.

"For leaving!", I broke the hug suddenly feeling tears well up in my eyes by this overwhelming moment.

"Hey!", he wiped the tear off my cheek,"It's fine, nothing happened. And I'm glad to see you again."

Instead of replying I simply laid my head on his chest, just wanting to be as close to him as possible. And as if he could read my mind, he put his arms around me again, holding me as close as ever.

Jungkook and I decided to stay in front of the old library. In the daylight it looked so much different from when that night when we had been here. At this moment I could clearly see how abandoned this old beautiful building was. Like in a forest we were surrounded by tall trees. Finding a cemented street would take only about three minutes but still, this area seemed like another world. A more beautiful world.

"Where are you spending new years eve?", Jungkook asked me grabbing my hand and warming it.

With blushed cheeks I shrugged. My roommates had actually planned something but I never agreed to join and to be honest I would've much rather enjoyed Jungkook's company.

"Let's spend it here. Together. We'll meet up 15 minutes before midnight and then I will do this.", he lifted up my chin and for the first time after a few days our lips met.

No matter how often we would kiss, each time I would feel this little sensation in my stomach which could make me jump because of happiness. Getting more experienced time by time, I opened his jacket a little bit to put my arms around his waist and get closer to him. He seemed to enjoy that very much when he suddenly asked for entry, licking my lips with his tongue. As the kiss got more sensual I could feel myself drifting off into another world.

"So we're planning on inviting everyone!", my jaw dropped when Mina had woken me up from my nap and informed me about her plans for new years eve.

"It's going to be the party of the year!", I heard Krystal, another roommate, screaming from the kitchen.

One day before the 31st of December they had planned to invite approximately 100 people, or more, into our little apartment. Besides me already having different plans, I was totally against it. The image of strangers being in my room, doing things, grossed me out.

"I don't like this.", I tried to be nice but saw that I had failed when Mina's smile dropped.

"Oh come on! It's going to be fun! You can invite your library boy too!"

Rolling my eyes I stood up walking towards my window, thinking very hard about how to stop them.

"We'd love to meet him!", Mina suddenly stood right beside me.

"No, you can't. Because we have different plans already."

"What plans?", Mina couldn't give up which led her to dangerous places since I felt I would burst out any time soon.

"Secret plans!"

"Oh. My. God. She's doing it!", Krystal stormed inside with a huge grin plastered on her face.

Perplexed I stared at my roommates squealing. It took me a while to get what Krystal was referring to.

"No just no!", I quickly walked past them.

"You don't have to be so shy, you can tell us!", Veronica screamed after me before I ran into the bathroom locking it twice.

The day had come, it was new years eve.
The door to my room was locked and I was glad I had done that, regarding the fact that I had lost count on how many people already wanted to get inside. Time wasn't quick enough and I was waiting to finally get out and see the boy I wanted to see every second of the upcoming year.

It was 11 pm and people were grinding on the floor and having weird times. I had passed on alcohol, wanting to enjoy the meaningful moment with Jungkook being sober.
Mina stumbled in front of me and landed on the floor laughing. There were times when I envied Mina for simply being Mina. But in times like this I was just embarrassed to watch her.

"Where's that library guy?", she mumbled when she tried to stand up.

Ignoring her I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

"Are you drinking water?", Hoseok, one of my study buddies, asked me with red eyes.

So the nerd was drunk too.

"No this is orange juice!", I replied sounding serious.

The clock was ticking and I could dance for every second that passed, when finally it was time for me to leave.
The night was cold and I was freezing, trying to ignore the cold sneaking up my sleeve. Nothing could stop my excitement from finally meeting the man again.
Under the trees the sky was even darker so that I barely saw anything. I wondered if we would be able to see the fireworks.

Jungkook was facing me with his back and for a few seconds I thought about scaring him. However right before I was about to do that he turned around.
Happily I walked towards him and tip toed in front of him in order to kiss him when he suddenly took a step back. My expression changed and out of sudden I got scared.

"We kiss when it's midnight!", he took my hands and I sighed my shocked state away.

"I was scared for a second." I admitted.

"Why?", he laughed wrapping his arms around me.

"I don't know.", I shook my head and put my hands on his chest.

His masculinity had impressed me from the very first second I had seen him. I knew for sure that he was the perfect material of a man any girl could wish for. That was why I also always felt scared when I was with him, because he just seemed too good for me.

"What are you thinking about?", he grinned at me.

"Nothing.", I giggled, hoping he wouldn't notice my red cheeks under the full moon.

"You're admiring me, am I right?", his face was dangerously close by now.

"Don't be so full of yourself!", I lightly hit his chest.

"I'm usually not but you make me. And that feels great. I hope I make you full of yourself too!"

I started laughing when I slowly shook my head:"No, you haven't."

A sigh came out of his lips as he took a step back, seeming to think very hard.

"You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and I'm scared you'll leave me for other guys because you're just too good for me. Whenever I see your beautiful self I want to do a somersault. And even though I'm scared I'll lose you I can't help but fall in love with you."

Not giving me any time for a reaction he wrapped his arms tightly around me again and kissed me passionately when the sky above us lit up with many different colours of fireworks.
