01 | Fairy Tail

Salty sweat ran down my face as I rode my bike as fast as I could to the nearest bookstore. My favourite author had just released a new book, and I wanted to get my hands on it as soon as possible.

When I had reached my destination, I dumped my blue bike on the sidewalk near the door and raced inside. Vellichor and the smell of honey filled the air. Shelves with beautifully organized books lined the walls.

"I NEED THE NEW RICK RIORDAN BOOK!" I informed the tall, old man at the front desk.

"I'm afraid we're all sold out of that one." he wheezed, scratching is almost bald head.

"I guess this was a total bust, then?" I sighed, sorry that I wasted all my energy to get here, only to go home with nothing.

"Now, now, don't say that. Please, have a look. There's sure to be another book here that interests you. I have a lot of new books, you know. Girls love this new book by Stephanie Meyer." He showed me a book titled 'Life and Death' with a green apple on the cover.

"No, thanks. Vampire stories bore me. Are you sure you don't have 'Magnus Chase'?"

"Oh, let's see." He bent down to look in the right drawer of his desk. "It appears I have one left."

"How much?" I inquired.

"20,000 Jewel." he beamed.

I blinked at him, knowing very clearly that something was odd.

"How much was that again?" I whispered nervously.

"Like I said, 20,00 jewel."

"Oops, it looks like I don't have enough. Bye." I ran for the exit. I had never heard of the currency called jewel. This was a major red flag for me.

"Wait!" He yelled. "You have to buy it. It's in the script."

I'm so glad I left when I did, because realized now that I had just been pulled into another episode of an anime. Since this happened a lot in my life, I was getting better at figuring it out quicker. All I had to do was avoid people. Then, the episode would be over, and I could go back home.

I began to march angrily away from the store. Why did this always have to happen to me? I laughed out loud at my rhetorical question. I knew the answer. It was destiny.

Just as I was about to get lost in deep thought, some teenage girls raced past me.

"You said that a famous wizard's come to town?" One inquired.

"It's Salamander-sama!" Screamed the other in a shrill voice.

Salamander? I wondered. Hmmm...maybe if I go find him, I might be able to get out of the nightmare a bit quicker. It was worth a try. I sprinted after the girls to join them.

As soon as I had found the guy, I knew I had made a terrible mistake. My heart skyrocketed up immediately.

"Hey, what's gotten into me?" I mumbled. I stared in complete confusion at the strange blue-haired man in the center of the crowd. He wore a violet robe with strange symbols. In my eyes, he radiated pure evil.

"Captivated, aren't you?" He questioned, loving all the attention he was receiving.

"He looked at me!"I released a girly squeal. I mentally slapped myself in the face. These strange feelings I was having---it had to some kind of anime power.

Suddenly, just when I was about to let the urges take over, some guy with spiky, pink hair jumped in front of me, shouting 'Igneel!'. He stood there, grinning like an idiot. The urged faded away and shattered like glass.

"Wait," He raised a pink eyebrow, after taking a closer look at the stranger. "Who are you?"

The stranger was aghast. He looked majorly offended. It was amusing to watch.

"If I said Salamander, would that ring a bell?" The blue haired man scoffed.

The guy with the pink haired man turned on his heel, walking leisurely away from the scene.

"How rude of you!" angry girls shrieked as the attacked him as he was leaving. If I were him, I would run for my life.

"Yeah! Salamander-sama is an amazing wizard!" others agreed and punched him a few more times. If they murdered him, I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised. Those ladies were furious.

"Apologize to him!" They demanded belligerently. White rage burned in their eyes.

"What's wrong with you people?" He grunted.

"Now, now... Just leave it at that." Salamander commanded them. It was as if they were all under a spell. "It's not like he meant any harm by it."

The crowd of brainwashed girls rejoiced at his words.

"He's so kind!" They giggled.

The man in the purple robes turned to the other stranger and offered him a framed signature.

"Here is my autograph." He told him. "Feel free to show it off to your friends."

The pink haired man looked the opposite of amused, wearing an annoyed countenance.

"No thanks." He replied bitterly, showing no interest.

Clearly not liking his response, the women shoved him into a pile of malodorous garbage.

"I guess we got the wrong person." Pointed out his blue cat.

"Now then, I have some business at the next port, so you'll excuse me-"

Salamander was soon interrupted by his army of fangirls.

"What?" They gasped. "You're leaving already?" They looked like they were about to burst into tears.

"RED CARPET!" He shouted boldly. suddenly, a bright swirling purple mist carried him into the air.

"I'm having a party on my ship this evening!" He announced. "Everyone, please attend!"

"Of course!!!" The ladies screamed in excitement. And in the blink of an eye, Salamander was gone.

"Who was that guy? What a jerk." He sighed.

"Thank you so much." I told the stranger, smiling.

"Huh?" he replied.

"Um, I've got to go now, but I should give you something in return for your help." I looked inside my pocket. There, I found 20,000 jewel and a ring of keys. I pulled the items out and handed them to the man. After, I dashed away as fast as my feet could take me.

Suddenly, a feeling of succour showered over me. I had escaped the episode...at last.
