The sky was especially dark tht day accompanied by heavy rain.There was no signs of retrieval of the rain.It was pouring down heavily without any pause.Avni had already got down from the apartment holding a suitcase.Her heart was already filled with a wide variety of emotions.If her mother hadn't trained her to be strong she would literally have been broken by now.But now she couldn't afford to do tht.A little one was growing inside her and she needed to take care of it ,inspite of what the situation might be.Though tears were not visible in her eyes ,she was shattered from inside.After all she had loved him more than herself and going away from him is something which she least expected.This made her hide the truth of her being pregnant from him.After all she didn't want her and her baby to be a burden for him.

As she reached the last stair of the building the rain had slowed down a little but it had not ended.She didn't dare to call him.It was time for him to come home but till now there was not even a single phonecall from him.Avni smiled thinking of her fate.Maybe happiness was something tht was never meant for her.Without any further thoughts she crossed the gate of the building looking at the apartment for one last chance.After making herself sure tht she was doing the right thing she closed the gate and started walking forward ,without an idea regarding where to go.

Neil was a bit busy tht day because of the new case assigned to him by the commissioner.He was feeling pissed for not being able to go home earlier today as he had promised Avni tht he would take her out for dinner.But now,there were less chances of tht happening.He peeped into his watch and found the time to be "9 pm".
Shit!!, Avni is all alone there,he cursed himself for not being able to spend time with her.He was feeling mad at himself.He took his phone and dialled her number but the number was not reachable.This made him even more worried and he threw the phone in frustration.Luckily,the phone did not break.By tht time DD came to his cabin and he became worried seeing his sir ji in frustration.He understood tht Neil was not upset for not being able to go home.

DD:Sir ,kya hua.

Neil:Avni is not taking the phone and I'm feeling worried.I have been trying her number for the past few minutes, don't know why is she not attending my call

DD:Sir,who else is there with bhabhi.

Neil:No one and tht makes me more worried.

DD:Sir u go home now ,it is already late.

Neil:But DD, this file..

DD:Sir u have already done most of the work and since the commissioner has said to submit the file by evening the rest of the work by tomorrow,pls sir ,take care of bhabhi, after all she has no one else other than you.

Neil:You are right DD. I'm leaving now itself.

Neil took his car keys and left from his cabin.Throughout his journey to home he was constantly thinking about Avni and he was feeling tht everything was not going in the right path.But shrugging away his thoughts he concentrated on driving unaware of the fact someone was closely observing him.

Avni was already on the road with the rain water fully drenching her.She was completely wet.In her turmoil of emotions she was not even aware tht it was raining.She only knew tht she was walking down aimlessly through the road.After all why should she care for herself when no one cared for her.

Neil was driving as fast as he can.He was restless.He was really concerned about Avni and her not picking up his calls made him tensed like hell.He felt something fishy but shrugging away all his thoughts he was keen to reach her as early as he could.

It was extremely risky to drive a car during a heavy rain and especially when it is night it becomes even more dangerous.But all these didn't affect Neil as Avni was his only concern now.As he finally reached the ground floor of his apartment he breathed in a sigh.The sky was dark and silent making it even more fierce.

Neil gently climbed the stairs only to find the apartment locked.Beads of perspiration could constantly be seen leaving his forehead. Avni!!, he screamed her name at the top of his voice but hearing no response he sensed tht something wrong.Tucking his hand into the spare lock he had ,he opened the door and put on the lights only to find the living room empty.

He checked all the rooms and also the bathroom and kitchen and Avni was nowhere to be found.

Kya hogaya Avni ko,I hope she is not in any danger,Neil said to himself.His legs became weak at the mere thought of anything happening to her.

He could not afford to lose her,he had struggled much to get her in his life ,after all his parents never approved him of marrying her as she didn't have a family ,they didn't want their son's life to be wasted living with a girl who didn't even have a single thing to call as her own.But Neil was so adamant in his decision tht he married her against the wishes of his family and started living separately as he did not want Avni to face the taunts of his family for being an orphan.How could she be at fault if she had no one by her side?.But all these things could be never understood by his family and Neil also did not attempt to do tht.

Both of them were happy in their own nest.They never used sharp words tht could hurt the other person's sentiment,whatever the situation might be and tht was the beauty of their relation.This was one of the reason's why Neil was confused now.There was no such problems between them and still Avni left the house.He couldn't understand what made her think in such a way.

Pulling away all his thoughts he thought to search for her by himself.After making another call to DD giving him instructions to trace her phone Neil ran from the apartment locking it hurriedly.

Avni was very weak and found it hard to walk.She knew tht she would fall down very soon.She was walking slowly when she saw a flash of light coming on her way.She closed her eyes in fear and later opened it only to find Neil getting out of the car and coming towards her.She understood it was him though he was much far away from her.Avni cursed her fate for seeing him yet again.This was something she wished to happen in the last chance and now finally he had found here.As Neil reached near here Avni moved further backwards only to lose her balance and tht is when he caught her right on her waist not allowing her to fall.

Neil:Avni.

Avni didn't reply.She just stood numb trying to get away from his hold as fast as possible.She didn't even want to face him.

Avni:Chodo mujhe Neil, mujhe tumhari maddat ki koi zaroorat nahi hai.

The last sentence heightened his adrenaline rush.As a response he started clutching her waist more tightly.

Neil:Avni,do u even realise what u are saying now?

Avni:I am speaking in my senses only.

Neil:Ho kya gaya tumhe Avni.

Avni somehow was able to free herself from Neil's clutches but before she could make a move from there Neil carried her in his arms which she had never expected from him.

Avni:Neil ,kya kar rahe ho,leave me,mujhe tumhare saath nahi jaana.

Neil:Ssshh.

Without even looking at Avni's face he put her in the car and locked it.Afterwards he got into his seat and started driving.He didn't even mind to look into her face or mumble even a single word throughout the journey while Avni had a stern look on her face as if she didn't care whatever he was doing.

When they reached the apartment again Neil carried her in his arms and Avni had a blank expression on her face.Neil who noticed this understood tht Avni was hurt for some reason.He gently carried her to their bedroom and placed her on the bed after which he locked the door and sat beside her ,looking deeply into her eyes seeking for answers.

Neil:Avni meri taraf dekho.

He pulled her chin up while her eyes were looking here and there without facing him.

Neil lost his patience.The more patiently he was trying to handle things,the more stubborn was she.

Leaving his hands from her chin,he shook her by her shoulders a little firmly,making her shoot her eyes at him as if it would pop out any moment.

Neil:Avni problem kya hai tumhara,if u have anything to tell just blurt it out,why making me tensed like this.

Avni:I want a divorce.

To tell tht Neil was shocked would be an understatement.He felt as if his whole brain had bursted out into a thousand pieces and as if all the cells of his body was about to die out in a fraction of seconds.

Neil:What?Avni ,yeh masak nahi hai,zindagi hai.

Avni:I am very much aware of what I said and I know tht it is not any joke.I stand clearly firm in my decision.I want a divorce from you Mr.Neil Khanna.

Neil couldn't control himself anymore.He left the room,slamming the door behind him ,leaving Avni all alone.

Avni sat as still as a statue with water droplets dripping from her hair into her face.

Neil sat on the living room clenching his fist while rocking his chair in rhythm.He really didn't know why Avni was reacting like this.For him,Avni was his better half who knew him more than anyone else and loved him and supported him to eternity.He had never seen this painful broken side of hers till now.He knew tht someone or something was haunting her and he made sure tht he would find about it.

After taking a few breaths in and out he could calm himself a bit and tht was when he realised tht Avni was still in her wet clothes.He ran to the bedroom at the thought of her only to find her eyes closed.

He took a towel from the cupboard and dried her hair while she was still in her sleeping position without being aware of anything tht was happening in her surroundings.Neil gently took off her clothes without making her awake and made her wear her night gown which was only till her knee.After making sure tht she was sleeping comfortably ,he pulled the comforter up and then slept beside her pulling her closer to his chest and patting her back with his arms.

In the morning when Neil had woke up,he couldn't see Avni beside him and this made him worried.He jumped from the bed and saw her talking to someone on the phone in the garden outside.He couldn't hear much as she was speaking in a very low voice as if it was some secret.Neil knew tht he had to find it out who it was.

As soon as Neil tend to go from there Avni cut the call.But before she could see him,Neil went to the kitchen in the pretext of getting some coffee for himself.Avni also came there only to see Neil busy in making a coffee.She didn't say anything but just continued with her work and Neil was pained to see her avoiding him like this.He tried to act as if he didn't care and he was successful in it to some extent.

As soon as Neil left the kitchen a pool of tears flowed continously from Avni's eyes.She couldn't control it anymore.She can't hate him even if she try to do so.He had become the reason for her happiness in every aspect from the day she had met him.She just couldn't accept the fact tht he could cheat on her after seeing all the kind caring gestures he had showered upon her.But ,she had to force herself to believe it.After wiping her tears and washing her face she thought to face Neil again.

But before she reached the room she heard Neil talking on phone.

Neil:DD,I need to get it soon,do u get tht.

As soon as Neil saw Avni he cut the call and got up from the bed to face her.

Neil:Are u still firm in tht decision.

Avni:Yes.

Neil:Ok,but before tht I want to know the reason behind u taking such a reason ,was I not worthy of u ,didn't I love u,did I cheat on u,

Avni laughed hearing the last sentence making Neil hell confused.

Avni:I can't live with u anymore Neil becuz u cheated on me.

Neil:Avnii.

His voice was loud enough tht all the people living in the surrounding could have heard it.He raised his hand her but immediately put it down.

Avni:You want to slap me,then do tht first,after all you should not regret it later.

Avni (in mind):I'm sorry Neil, mujhe yeh sab karna hoga,for u ,I have to do it.

Neil:I am feeling ashamed of myself for having fallen for u ,for having loved u so madly,I thought tht u knew me very well but I was wrong,I was wrong to not pay heed to my parents and marry you,it was my mistake,I agree.

Avni:I knew tht Neil u would finally say this,after all hamare beech me aisa kuch nahi hai tht we are confined in this relationship.We were just married for our own benefits.

Neil:Oh so tht is what u think now,I never knew u could stoop so low Avni,how could u even think tht I would cheat on u when all I did was love u.

Avni:I would have never believed it ..but...when u yourself lie to me what should I understand from tht..leave it ,why wasting time saying all tht now,everything has ended between us ,now u have your way and I have mine.

Neil:Then what about our child.

Avni was shocked to hear the word child from Neil's mouth .

Avni:What?Which child?.

Neil:Our child,the one tht is growing in your stomach.

Avni:You ...know.

Neil:I saw the doctors reports from your table yesterday,now will u be able to defend saying tht it is not true.

Avni:Unfortunately it is true.

Neil:So everything related to me is unfortunate for u,oh I didn't know tht,so this means tht u have never loved me hain na,then y did u marry me.

Avni:You can think anything according to your wish,tht is not my concern.

Avni's eyes were full of tears when she said tht.

Neil:So you are not going anywhere,and about the divorce ,I can't agree for tht unless I get a proper reason from u.

Avni:Ok u do whatever u can,but I can never be the same Avni again.

Neil:Tht is your wish,but u are still the same for me,my wifey,whether u hate me or not I will always love u and let me tell u one more thing,I have never cheated on u,u can believe it if u want.

Neil leaned closer to her and caressed on her baby bump and gently kissed her on her forehead.Then he left from there.

Avni's POV

Why is this always happening to me? Pls God, give me an answer, I want my Neil but.

Flashback

Avni was so happy after hearing from the doctor tht she was pregnant.How could she not?This is something she and Neil had been waiting for from the last few months.She thought to surprise Neil and inform him only when he comes home.This was not something to be told through phone.

Rejoicing her happiness, she went to the nearby coffee shop to have her favourite poha along with some hot coffee.As soon as she got inside she found a side seat very much close to the garden.She immediately went and sat there and placed her order.

Little did she know tht a small storm was approaching her tht would throw away all her happiness in split seconds.

As she was about to sip her coffee in happiness,a few people came and sat opposite her.They were some goons.

Goon no 1:We are Vidyut sir's men.Just come outside ,Vidyut sir is waiting for u.

Avni:I don't want to see anyone.

Goon:Then u won't see your husband alive.

Avni became scared on the mention of Neil.She got up from her set and went along with them only to see Vidyut standing just outside his car just a few kilometres away from the cafe.

Vidyut:Baby u came.

Avni:Mr.Vidyut R ,mind your words,I'm not your baby, if u are obsessed with me tht does not mean tht u can call me anything u want ,I'm a wife ,so pls mind your language while addressing a woman.

Vidyut:Calm down Avni.

Avni:I am going.

Vidyut:Not until I give u my permission.

Avni:As if I would listen to tht.

Vidyut:U will when it is related to your pyaara sa pati Acp Neil Khanna.

Avni:What did u do to my Neil?I will kill u if anything happens to him.Keep tht in mind before doing anything to him.

Vidyut:Itna pyaar,ha.Come on Avni, we didn't do anything to him,we only face him a few warnings and some beatings to go away from u but unfortunately tht didn't go as well as I planned,so yaa I'm trying a different way.

Avni's rage heightened hearing Vidyut attacked her Neil.She grabbed his collar and shouted at him.

Avni:U bastard,u hit my Neil,how dare u.

Vidyut gently removed Avni's hand from his collar and evily smiled at her.

Vidyut:So if u don't want your Neil to be troubled anymore stay away from him,I mean divorce him,I can't afford to see u close to anyone other than me,Avni and better u take my words as a warning, otherwise the consequences will be srs ,u know right, if Vidyut R says something he won't be able to sleep unless he completes it ,so better listen to me.

Avni:U are saying tht I should go away from my Neil?What do u want Vidyut ?Why do u want to destroy my life?Why do u want to destroy my happiness?What big mistake did I do tht u are troubling me like this?Pls leave me alone.

Vidyut:U did a mistake Avni,and very big mistake, u made me fall for u and tht is the only mistake u have done.I couldn't get u earlier becuz before tht u married tht Neil,but this time I'm not gonna lose.

Avni: Pls don't do anything to my Neil, what mistake did he do?

Vidyut:He did the biggest mistake of marrying you and if u want to see him alive, u better listen to me varna...I'll kill him.

Avni: Pls I beg u, don't do anything to him, teek hai, I'll do as u say, I'll divorce him,I'll go away from him,but then u should stop troubling him.

Vidyut:If u keep yours I will also keep my promise.

Vidyut got into his car and drove off ,leaving a broken Avni all alone.

Avni's POV

Isiliye maine yeh sab karliya Neil,please don't hate me for this.

Meanwhile Neil got to know all this happenings from Ali.Ali was in the cafe at tht time.He saw Avni and as he was about to talk to her ,he saw her walking away with some unknown people and her coffee and food was left untouched.Ali felt suspicious seeing all this and thus followed her secretly only to find Vidyut threatening her.

Neil:Ali y didn't u say this earlier.

Ali:I'm sorry yaar,I thought tht Avni would have told u.

Neil:But now.

Ali:I just came to police station to meet u and tht is when DD told me u won't come today because u were worried about Avni, so I thought this might help u.

Neil:Thanks yaar Ali, now this will solve rest of the things.

Ali:Not to mention mera bhai.

Ali and Neil cut the phone on a happy note.

Neil's POV

Now I understand y Avni wanted to leave this house, why she wanted to divorce me and why she didn't tell me about her being pregnant,your punishment is on the way wifey,but before tht I have to deal with Mr.Vidyut R.

Neil made a call to DD to make arrangements to arrest Vidyut R.He also informed him tht as he would soon be there in the police station to arrest Vidyut.

Neil came to the room only to see Avni sitting on the bed lost in thoughts.

Neil:Avni I'm going to the police station.

Without waiting for an answer he left from there shattering Avni once more.

At police station

Neil:DD has everything been done.

DD:Yes sir.

Neil:Ok good.

Neil and DD left in the police jeep along with some police men to Vidyut's home.
As soon as they rung tht bell,Vidyut opened the door.

Vidyut:Tum yaha,wasn't tht enough for u.

Neil:You are under arrest Mr.vidyut R for attacking a police officer and secondly for trying to blackmail Acp's wife.

Vidyut:So she told u everything.

Neil:It is not anything tht concerns u.

Neil instructed DD to put the handcuffs on Vidyut who did the same as his Neil sir.

Vidyut:You may have won now,but not everytime.

Neil:Atleast u accepted tht I won this time, so let me remind u one thing Mr.Vidyut R ,I have always won in the battle for Avni and will also continue to in the future becuz I love her,I'm not obsessed with her like u do and one more thing, I didn't pressurise her to love me,it just happened,so try to understand, true love prevails irrespective of all odds.

Thus Vidyut was arrested.Neil was happy now.Now he had to solve matters with his wifey at home.

Neil:DD I'm going, have to solve certain matters.

DD:Ok sir,all the best.

Neil reached home and got inside only to see Avni still in the same position.He thought to treat her with the same medicine for some time not only becuz he wanted to make her feel what he went through when she had spoke to him so harshly but also to make her realise her mistake.

Neil got inside the room and got into the washroom to change without even looking at Avni.Though Avni had expected this,still she wished tht he would atleast look at her.

As Neil came from the washroom she noticed blood oozing out from his forehead.
Neil hadn't noticed this.Avni literally ran to the cupboard to fetch the first aid box.
As Neil was about to leave the room she stopped him by holding his hand.

Neil:What is this Avni,can't u leave me alone for sometime.

Instead of replying Avni just pulled his hand and forcefully made him sit on the bed.
Without giving him a chance to further speak anything she started to clean the would with cotton while Neil winced in pain.Seeing him wincing tears filled in her eyes.Somehow she controlled her tears from falling.She gently blew on his forehead to sooth his pain while Neil was in bliss.After Avni was done with it, Neil got up from the bed and went and sat in the couch after fetching a case file from the shelf.

Avni was constantly looking at him without knowing whether she should speak to him through truth or not.Neil ignoring her was shattering her and breaking her from inside.She didn't want to show him tht she was broken enough tht she would fall down any soon.So she gently went and lay down on the bed.

Neil now understood tht his game had gone a little too much.He couldn't take the risk of making her upset more especially when she was pregnant now.He gently went and sat near her on her bed.Avni's back was facing him.Neil gently pushed some part of her sari covering her stomach and touched her gently.Avni felt butterflies in her stomach when he touched her like tht.She got up from the bed and as she was about to step out Neil pulled her back which resulted in her falling right into his arms extremely close to him.

Neil:Avni,nadak band karoo yaar,mujhe sab kuch pata hai.

Avni turned her head to face Neil as she hadn't expect him to speak in such a way.

Avni:Sab kuch?.

Neil:Haa sab kuch, I know tht Vidyut threatened u tht he will kill me which is y u tried to leave from here and was putting on all this drama.

Avni lowered her head hearing him.

Neil:But u could have told me Avni,u still don't trust me wifey.

Avni:Neil it is not the matter of trust,it is the matter of your safety ,he had already attacked u and u didn't tell me Neil,so I couldn't take the risk so I agreed to whatever he said,it was not becuz I didn't believe tht u could get out from it ,but i simply couldn't take a risk with your life,I have only you Neil, I can't afford to lose u.

Avni started sobbing in Neil's chest hugging him tightly while he gently kissed her forehead and hair.

Neil: Don't cry now, everything is solved now,Vidyut is in jail.

Avni:Neil pls tell me everything.

Neil:Also applicable to u wifey.

Avni:Haa Neil,I promise u tht next time something like this won't happen.

Neil:Tht is like my wifey,waise mera baccha kaise ho.

Avni:He is fine.

Neil:He?How do u know tht?

Avni:A wild guess,because I want tillu ka pillu.

Neil:But I want a chotti Avni,braving daring and beautiful like my wifey.

Avni:Neil bas karoo,let my baby sleep now.

Neil:Not before a kiss from papa.

Neil gently kissed Avni's stomach and then slept cuddling close to her.
