Author's pov -

"Ria? But why?" Avni asked desperately. It's been ages since she met her old enemies ria and juhi ,they didn't came to college from past two weeks and Avni wondered why? But now ria's sudden appearance at Neil's house made avni curious. 

"Neil, tell me Please what happened?" Avni asked again, but Neil didn't reply ,he played with his fingers.

Avni sighed before she slid a few inches closer to Neil .she took his hand in her and entwined them.

"Tell me, Neil. It's fine. " she whispered giving him a squeeze.

Neil looked down, he closed his eyes for a second and opened them again. Without letting her hand go Neil says.

"Ria came to my house and told me everything that happened back in freshers party. She told me, it was juhi who tried to defame you in front of me as she wanted revenge. Ria also told me, you didn't have any fault, it was juhi who heard your prank plan and told everyone about that moreover she even bought them to that place so that I can misunderstand you." he mumbles, Avni listens on.

"Ria confessed all this to me, she said she feels guilty for joining hands with juhi to trap you Thus, she wanted me to know the truth " Neil says.

After listening Avni slowly takes off her hand.  Suddenly, Her eyes welled up remembering that horrific night. It was the night where everything started. Slowly, tears rolled down her cheeks making Neil panic.

"Avni.. Please don't cry... Please... " Neil chocked out, his voice was betraying him.

"How can not I Neil ? Do you even realize how I felt that day?  Being humiliated in front of everyone? You know no one ever called me names, it was you Neil. " Avni sniffed remembering that terrific night.

"I'm... So. ..Sorry.... " Neil whispered, his eyes turned red. He could feel his throat tightening up.

Avni looked away crying. She doesn't want to bring past back and make Neil feel guilty again but she's also a human, how long could she hold back, she couldn't help but cry at her misery.

Neil saw avni weeping , in these ten days she didn't cry for even a minute infront of him and the reason he knows, but Neil couldn't stop thinking about that night. How recklessly he manhandled her, how brutally he hurt her verbally . When ria came to his house midnight to confess all their nasty deeds, Neil was shocked. He felt like someone punching him without a second gap. As soon as he realised avni didn't had any fault . he felt immense guilt from inside which couldn't leave his heart and eventually he had to take such a huge step.

"Avni ,don't cry. Hit me if you want but please don't cry. I can't see you like this. " Neil cried out.

Avni remained silent , Neil quickly sat on his knees in front of her and hugged her legs.

"Neil what the hell are you doing?" Avni yelled with widen eyes.

" I'm sorry.. " Neil whispered and he didn't let her go.

"Neil, are you mad? Everyone is watching us. " Avni yelled again and tried to get way but Neil gripped her knees tight in his arms.

"Don't cry then. " Neil mumbled.

"Are you crazy? You are embarrassing yourself. " Avni hissed and wriggled her legs.

"I don't care if I'm embarrassing myself. Don't cry, that's it or else I'd never leave you. " Neil said stubbornly like a kid still hugging her knees.

"Okay, I won't cry . Now leave Neil. " Avni shouted and Neil left her.

"You are mad Neil. Absolutely mad.  " she yelled ,in return Neil smiled.

"Don't smile. This isn't a joke. You literally blackmailed me. " she glared at him.

"I know but Avni When truth came out in front of me I was shattered. I was devastated thinking how I ruined your life. " Neil says lowly.

"Why ria and juhi aren't coming to college? Did you do something? " Avni asked ignoring Neil's previous words.

"As soon as I got to know, I told them to leave college or else they'd have to deal with me. " Neil gritted his teeth.

"What? How could you? And they left college and I don't know .But ali? He's boyfriend of ria right? " Avni asked shocked.

"He was, when he got to know about their deeds, he broke up with her and avni they deserve it. Because of them it all happened. And I blame myself for believing them. I'm such a moron " He ran his fingers through his hair.

Avni stayed silent after a while she speaks up.

"I think ,I should leave. It's late " Avni says. 

"I will drop you. " Neil replies instantly 

"It's okay, I'll go. "

"I will drop you. That's it, you don't have a choice. " Neil says sternly.

"But -- " She get cuts off.

"Avni, it's too late. Try to understand. "  Neil sighs.

Avni couldn't help but remember the time when Neil dropped her. It was memorable day, they had so much fun .she remembered how neil told her his hate - girls theories and how he chided her for making him wait in rain.

"So, I've to climb your bike again huh?" Avni laughed packing books into her bag.

"Hey, don't insult my bike. By the way today, I've bought car. " Neil says helping her in packing.

Avni nodded. "Let's go !"

"Neil, would you please open up the windows ? I'm feeling uneasy. " Avni whispered to Neil who's driving.

"Hey, are you okay? " Neil asked concerned looking at her.

"I'm okay, it's just I've motion sickness" Avni sighed , she rubbed her temples to ease the pain that hit her head.

"You should have told me before. " Neil said opening up the windows.

"I thought I'd be okay. " Avni replied ,feeling fresh air from outside.

"I hope you are feeling better now
Do you want water? " Neil asks.

"No, I'm fine " Avni smiles and there was an absolute silence. Neil was concentrating on road unable to forward the conversation. Avni was watching outside while Neil starred  at her occasionally. His lips curved into a soft smile watching avni who's enjoying the sight of Mumbai which is now glittered with lights. Soon, Neil had to stop the car as the signal was red.

There was awkwardness which Neil wanted to break. He wanted to speak alot but couldn't put a word out.

"Avni... " Neil whispered.

"Hmm "

"Did you have any doubts in today's physics lecture? I can explain if you have any! " Neil asked but soon he chided himself for asking such a dumb question.

"Are you serious? Like really? You came today and you're asking me if I'm having any doubts? " Avni exclaims shocked.

"Yeah, it's because I've already read that topic in my 12th. I mean in reference books like HC.Verma, Xam idea, S. L. Arora and list goes on..." Neil smiles.

"Great then! You will become scientist one day. In my 12th I've read only NCERT books. " Avni rolled her eyes.

"You are awesome, by reading NCERT you got first rank and yeah I want to become a pilot in Air Force " he replies.

Avni smiles.

Neil starts driving again but his time he wanted to talk something not dumb.

"Avni I- " Neil get cuts off by Avni's phone.

Neil huffs with irritation while avni takes her phone out from bag only to witness vidyut calling her.

"Vidyut ,why he's calling me now? " Avni thought looking her phone.

"Avni, lift the call. " Neil spoke as he saw avni starring at the screen without reverting.

"Nothing important, company call. " Avni smiled tightly before she cuts the call off.

"You were telling something right?" She asks putting her phone back in bag.

"Nothing much ". Neil shrugs concentrating on driving.

"Oh, by the way did you talk with rohan? " Avni asks.

"Nope ,he's angry on me. " Neil says.

"At least talk with him. I know he's hurt but he will understand you. " She Shrugs.

"Honestly, I'm scared to talk with him. Even in hospital, He didn't talk with me that's enough to know how much he's Angry on me " Neil says sadly.

"Hey, it's okay don't worry. " Avni pats Neil's shoulder while he stares at her for a second before he concentrates on drive.

"Thanks for driving me. " Avni says as Neil pulled up into Avni's apartment.

"My pleasure Madam. Hope you had a great time " Neil grins.

Avni rolled her eyes.

"Okay, bye " Avni was about to leave. But Neil's stops her by holding her hand.

" What happened? " Avni asks.

"Actually, ..I w...anted to ask you something... " Neil says shuttering.

"What? " Avni asks.

"Umm...umm... Can I sit in your bench ? " Neil says hesitating.

Avni stays silent.

"If you're uncomfortable it's okay. Sorry for asking you. I'm sorry. " Neil blabbers.

"Let me reply Neil. why'd you assume everything? You can sit in our bench No issues except have to bear  Pari " Avni says smiling.

"Really? You are serious right? " Neil asks excitedly.

Avni giggled.

"Why are you so adorable? " Avni pinched his cheeks.

"Hey, you can't say like that, I'm not a girl to be called as adorable. " Neil scrunched his nose in disgust.

"Still hating girls huh? By the way you've changed alot I mean from cold arrogant rowdy to sweet cute boy who takes permission that to from a girl. " Avni giggles.

"You are special! So permission was necessary. " Neil says.

"What ?" Avni frowns.

"Nothing, go and do assignment. " Neil laughs.

"Ya shit! Stupid assignment. Ugh! Thanks for reminding me.  Bye meet you tomorrow. " Avni says and gets out of the car.

"Bye, sweet dreams Avni. " Neil yells.

"Haha, devil dreams adorable khanna. Bye..." Avni shouts running inside.

"She got me another name. Cutie! " Neil smiles sheepishly as his cheeks turn into crimson red.
