Author's Pov -

Next day Neil was patiently waiting for avni to show up. She told him that she'd be at 11am. From the time she left Neil couldn't stop thinking about her words. She gave him a chance to repent his mistakes. A opportunity to make everything normal again.

"It's 11:05 am but why she isn't here yet.?" Neil was restless and scared thinking avni wouldn't show up.

Suddenly his room door opens revealing smiling avni with a bag in her hand. Neil's eyes brightend with joy and happiness. Soft smile crept on his face instantly.

"You are here. Omg I was waiting for you. " Neil shrieks loudly looking at her.

Avni smiles watching Neil's enthusiasm. He was acting like a kid who feels happy getting chocolates.

"But , you are late. " Neil frowns.

Avni narrows her eyes and looks at her watch and soon she realises she was five minutes late.

"I'm sorry bad boy , Traffic problem. Will you allow me inside? " Avni grins.

"You are a late comer, but it's okay come inside." he says . With that they both brust into laughter.

"That's funny. " Avni laughs and sat on stool beside his bed.

"I know right? As a topper I've never been late to school or college. " he grins.

"I know. TOPPER. " She rolls her eyes emphasizing the word topper.

"Okay, I'm so hungry. Where's my food? " Neil asks deseparately.

"Woah, looks like you haven't had anything for breakfast " Avni frowns.

"Yes, but show me what did you bought. " he says looking at her bag with curiosity.

"I've bought Kichidi for you " Avni smiles opening the zip of bag and takes out the box.

"What? Kichidi? like seriously? " Neil gasps and widens his eyes.

"It's healthy and tasty food. I bet you'd lick every bit of it because I've made it. " Avni shrugs opening the lid of box.

"What? You cook? ". Neil questions amused.

"Of course, I know cooking and my signature dish is Biryani." She winks.

"Woah, you are great. I mean.. Studies cooking and all. Impressive. Even I love Biryani. And yes, I want to taste your signature dish too " Neil licks his lips.

"I will, after you health gets better but for now you have to eat  kichidi before it gets cold. " Avni says.

"I won't die right? ". Neil says teasingly.

"Shut up," She slaps his arms playfully.

Neil stays silent for a second before he speaks again.

"But... I.. Can't.. Eat.. My hands pain. Call someone to feed me.. " Neil says with hesitation.

"I will feed you .are you okay with it ?" Avni says unsure.

"I'm ...okay..m.. You can feed me. " he shutters.

Avni smiles and was about to feed him.

"Stop girl what the hell are you doing?" A loud scream interrupted them.

Avni and Neil turned around to see furious nurse standing at the door glaring at avni.

"What happened?" Avni asked confused.

"Mam, patient is not allowed to eat outside food and here you're feeding him? " She says irritated.

"It's homemade food and health -

Avni's word's get cut off.

"I don't care what it is . Patient isn't allowed to eat outside food. What if something happens? If you again do this I will complaint to doctor.  " she says sternly.

"Excuse me. Is this a way you speak with others? " Neil said with anger. His eyes were blazing already watching avni get insulted.

"Mam you can leave now." Nurse says ignoring Neil.

Avni's face paled out. She cooked food for Neil with love and care and now he isn't allowed to eat. Avni closed the lid of box and sighed.

"I think...i should Go. Bye Neil " Avni said sadly and gets up.

"You are not going anywhere. " Neil holds her wrist saying seriously.

"But Neil -" her words get interrupted by Neil.

"You are not going anywhere. Understand? Sit here. " Neil said glaring at the nurse.

"Sir, I will complaint to doctor. She isn't allowed to make you eat all those things without our permission . " Nurse speaks up.

"Go and complaint. If you have guts. " Neil shouted.

Avni fliches with his tone.

"Neil.. Stop. " Avni says but he ignores her.

"Go and Tell your sir. I will also see how you will come to this hospital tomorrow. " Neil screams again. He was so angry, first he Was getting only few minutes time to spend with avni and now that too was being snatched. 

Avni's eyes widened. She looked at nurse and then him.

"Neil calm down. It's her duty to say.. " Avni exclaims.

"I don't care. Give me my damn phone .I'll make sure this rude girl get fired from job by tomorrow. She is annoying. And she doesn't know who I am. " Neil grits his teeth.

Nurse eyes widens while avni gasps. He is again behaving like a jerk. No control about himself.

"Neil.. Look at me " Avni says sternly.
But Neil didn't look at her instead he was glaring at nurse with anger.

"I said look at me. " She says again.

Neil averted his gaze from nurse to avni who's looking at him softly with innocent eyes.

"Calm down bad boy. " she whispers cupping his cheeks.

"But , she.. Was disrespectful to you " He whispers.

"I know but you should control your anger. " She mumbles slightly stocking his left cheek.

"I - " Neil gets cut's of .

"Calm down.  " She says seriously.

"Fine. " Neil huffs.

Avni sighs and goes to the nurse.

"I won't give him outside food,  you can go. I'm sorry. " Avni says politely.

Nurse noded and walked out.

Avni sighed and turned towards Neil glaring at him.

"What did I do now? Why are you glaring me? " he questions as he saw her approaching towards him.

"You know what? First, you don't have control over your anger. Second, you don't know what is called patience. Third, today I get to know you don't have brain. " She says trying hard to not to shout.

"But , she was the one who started. " Neil exclaims.

"Neil, their was no need of all that. It was her duty to say that and she said to me. But you wanted to make her fired just because she talked rudely ?do you even realise you are again thinking like a devil. I didn't expect this. You should control yourself. You should gave grip on your emotions before you do something crazy again."  she says.

"I'm sorry " Neil whispers with tears. "I couldn't able to watch her shouting at you. I don't know what happened to me. "

"It's okay, don't repeat this " Avni smiles.

"I won't and I'm sorry " Neil says sadly remembering the time when he got her fired from job. His heart ached remembering how he made her humiliated that day.

"I really want to eat your hand made food " Neil sighs.

"I've an idea? " Avni says with a cheeky grin.

"What? Idea? "

"I will lock the door and you have to finish it. Simple. " she shrugs.

"Wow ,what a great idea." Neil says sarcastically rolling his eyes .

"I know right." Avni laughs.

"Tubelight. " he mutters under his breath.

Avni locks the door and comes back and feeds Neil.

"It's tasty. " Neil exclaims amused.

Avni smiles softly.

"Thank you. " she says feeding him another spoon.

"Thank you, after decades I get to eat something good. " Neil says starring at avni.

" I'm glad you liked it " she replies.

"But.. I want to ask you a question " Neil asks hesitated.

Avni nodes.

"Aren't you angry on me? You are behaving normal like I didn't do anything to you. " Neil questions.

Avni sighs.

"I know alot happened between us. I know what you did was unforgivable. but this is life, I couldn't stick  to the bad and cry , waste my time and make my parents or loved ones worry. I know it's hurts alot but for the sake of loved ones we should learn to move on. Life is unpredictable and we should live in present. " Avni says.

Neil nodes listening.

"You have to promise me something Neil. " Avni asks holding his hand.

Neil looks at their entwined hands and then avni.

"Promise me you will be fine. Promise me you will come back to college all healthy. " 

Neil starres her for a second before he speaks up.

"I'll be fine. I promise ,I'd come to college. " he smiles softly.

"Good, now don't lash on that poor nurse. She looked so scared. "  Avni chuckles.

"I won't. Wiill you come tomorrow? " he asks with hopeful eyes.

"No, I've to attend college. Can't bunk everyday right? " She pauses.

Neil face drops. His smile fades.

"Don't worry bad boy. I will come after college hours." She finishes making Neil smile.
