Avni was doing some work in the kitchen when Bebe arrived and saw her lost in thoughts. She placed her hand on Avni's shoulder making her come out of her trance.

B: Ki hoya puttar?

A: Kuch bhi to nhi Bebe.

B:Kuch bhi to nhi Bebe (mimicking her). Subah se dekh rhi hu khi khoyi hui hai, yakeen nhi hota to khud hi dekhle tu kya daalne wali thi chai me (indicating towards the container which had water and tea leaves in it).

Avni saw that she was about to put salt instead of sugar for preparing tea. She remembered the same thing she did in Neil's bachelor pad and his colleagues had to gulp the salty tea. She chuckled lightly and then looked at Bebe who raised her eyebrows asking what's wrong.

A: Vo Bebe, vo to mai.....

B(cutting her off): Ye, vo chod. Tu thik hai na?

A: Ha Bebe vo shyd neend puri nhi hui to...

B(touching her forehead): Hayo mere Rabba, tujhe to bukhaar h puttar.

A: Ha vo Bebe actually😅😅....

B: Tu ye kaam chod aur jake aaram kr. (To Bheema) Bheema chai bnake Sunny ko study room me de dena.

Bheema nodded.

A: Pr Bebe....

B: Koi pr vr nhi, chl ja apne room me aur khabardar, lunch se pehle niche aayi to.

A: Thik hai Bebe (pouting).

B: Not working, chl ja.

Avni shook her head smiling a bit and headed towards her room when the landline started ringing. She was going towards it to attend but Bebe stopped her.

B: Mai dekh lungi, tu ja.

A: Plz Bebe, aapki dawai ka time ho gya hai, aap medicines lo, mai ye call attend krke pkka chli jaungi aur rest bhi krungi.

B: Pkka?

A: Pkka meri pyaari Bebe (pulling her cheeks).

B: Ha thik hai, thik hai, maska mt lga. Caller ko bol tu busy h.

Avni giggled a bit and Bebe left. As she did, Avni's smiling rather fake smiling face turned into a sad one. She picked the phone that was shouting to pick it up.

A: Haan haan baba aa rhi hu.

She picked the phone.

A: Hello!

Caller(excited Punjabi accent): O ji, jo bole so nihaal, Satsriakal, haha, thoko taali.

A(Keeping the telephone a bit under her ear, to herself): Siddhu paji🤨? (Keeping phn on her ear) Satsriakal Sardarji, kisse baat krni hai aapko?

C: O ji, mainu tuhade naal gal karni hai. (I wanna talk to u).

A: Mere saath? Mere saath kya baat krni hai aapko? Mai to aapko jaanti bhi nhi hu. Dekhiye, it's a "wrong number".

She was about to disconnect the call when she heard him stopping her.

C: O ji tusi meri gal to suno. (Listen to me). Mainu Avni Ayesha de naal gal karni hai. (I need to talk to Avni Ayesha). Tusi auno bula do. (U call her).

A: Avni Ayesha? Speaking! Mai hi Avni hu. Avni Neil Khanna.

C: O haaa, tuhada to vyaah ho giya. (O yes, u got married). Happy wedding ji, happy wedding.

A: Happy wedding😐? Whatever! Aap hain kaun? Aur mujhe kaise jaante hain?

C: O ji tusi kaun te asi kaun? (Who are u and who am I)? Sb rab de bande h. (All r god's children). Pher vi je taunu janna hi hai, then let me tell u. (Still if u wanna know lemme tell u). O ji, I'm ur kuan badhai dene wala.

A: Whattt? Kuan? U mean well wala kuan?

C: O ji bilakul shi. Kuan badhai dene wala ji. U know, Well wisher😁.

A: Kuan! Well! Wisher! (Giggling) Kuch bhi😂.

C: Tuhadi muskaan vadi changi h ji😌. (U've a lovely smile).

A(clearing her throat): Dekhiye, I don't need any well wishers, I already have many.

C: Achha ji tusi offend na ho. (Ok, don't get offended). Mai ta aiveyi khriya si. (I was saying casually). O ji, in real, mainu taunu call kuch puchhan lai kiya h. (Actually, in real I've called u to ask something).

A: Huff, finally aap point pe to aaye. Ji boliye.

C: Vo ji ki hai na aapke husband jo hai, Acp sahab, aunu mai nit dekheya si police istation jate hue, te everyday he happy happy, today sad sad, kyu ji? (Actually ur husband, The Acp, I see him everyday going to police station. He seems usually happy, but today was sad, why so)?

Listening him, Avni's face went back to the previous dull look.

A: Ye hmara personal matter hai.

C: O ji, but u know mai tuhada badhai denewala, just for general knowledge pucheya si. (But u see I'm ur well wisher, I asked just for some general knowledge). Achha tusi aunu chddo, taunu pta h pati nu angrezich husband kyu kende ae? (Ok fine, leave it, btw do u know why we call husband as husband in English)?

A: Husband kyuki (thinking) kyuki bs khte hai, mujhe nhi pta. Aap btaiye kyu khte hai? Aapko pta hai jaise🙄.

C: O ji, ofc pta hai. Dekho ji, jo insaan baar baar band bjwake bhi hsda rehenda hai, au husband honda hai😂. (Ofc I do. See, a person who keeps getting screwed but still laughs, is a husband). Haha! Thoko Taali.

Avni couldn't help bursting in bits of laughter listening him. After sometime she composed herself.

A: Achha🤭! Aisa hai😂!

She kept giggling and gradually her giggles converted to sobs.

C: Ki hoya Avni ji? (What happened Ms Avni)?

A(wiping her tears): Kl raat k baad se, ab hai ki mai aise hs rhi hu. Thank you so much. I don't know aap kaun hain but u indeed are my well wisher.

C: Mine pleasure ji pr tusi ro kyu rhe ho? (But why r u crying)?

A: Kuch nhi bs kuch yaad aa gya🥺. Vaise normally insaan apne janne walo se, ya apne bahot close logo se apne dil ki baat share krta hai. I don't know ye kitna shi hai but filhal I feel aap meri help kr skte hain.

He kept mum indirectly asking her to continue.

A: Sardarji, ek wife ki apne husband k trf bahot zimmedariya hoti hain. And jb husband bahar kaam kre aur ghr smbhalna wife ka decision ho, to use uske kaam ko smjhne k saath saath, aur bhi critically sb kuch handle krna pdta hai. Mai maanti hu and trust me mai koshish bhi puri kr rhi hu. I understand ki Neil ka kaam koi bachho ka khel nhi hai. As Acp he is busy, he has the whole city's responsibility but what about his responsibility as a husband🥺?

She took a pause trying to calm herself down.

Vo subah ghr se jldi nikal jata hai, raat to late aata hai. Kbhi kbhi overnight bhi use kaam hota h. I understand. I understand everything. Pr kya agr pehli baar maine use mere liye sirf kuch time nikalne ko bol liya, to koi crime kr diya? I mean, maine sirf itna kaha tha ki Neil kya jb tum jldi aa jate ho to hm thodi der baithke baat kr skte hai, tum mujhe apne kaam k baare me btana, mai tumhe apne din k baare me btaungi. Pure din me, sirf kuch moments. Aisa kya maang liya maine ki he🥺....he shouted on me like that. He never raised his voice at me but kl😣.

She couldn't say further. Her soft sobs converted to cries. She didn't know why she was telling all this to a total stranger but he felt safe.

C: Mai.....ki....ki kaha? (What shall I say)? I......I'm really sorry for u.

A(wiping her tears): It's ok. I think ab mujhe aadat daal leni chahiye. And tbh vha tk bhi smjh aata hai mujhe. He is tensed with back to back cases but subah bhi vo bina kuch kahe nikal gya. Ek baar baat krne ki koshish bhi nhi ki😔.

B(shouting): Avni puttar!

Avni wiped her face nicely hearing Bebe's voice from her room.

A(shouting back): Ha Bebe, bs ja rhi hu. (To the caller) Achha Sardarji ab mai chlti hu. Meri tabiyat thodi thik nhi hai, to Bebe rest krne ko kh rhi hain. Aapse baat krke bahot achha lga.

C: Arey! Ki hoya? (What happened)?

A: Kuch nhi, bs hlka sa fever hai.

C: O ji, I will pray aap jldi kuan le aao.

A(giggling): Phir Kuan😂? Ab iska mtlb kya hai?

C: Get well soon ji😁.

Avni again started laughing.

A: Oh god, u r so funny. Pr aapne btaya nhi, aap hain kaun? Naam kya hai aapka?

C: Ae gal, ae gal kuch thik nhi hai ji. Sathh me jeene mrne di ksme khayi thi hmne. Pul gyi kya? (This, this isn't fair. We vowed to live and die together. Already forgotten)?

A: Kya?

But it didn't take her much time to identify the caller. She stood up realising the same.

A: Neil?

N: Hello wifey😁!

A: Tum? Ek min, itni der se tum mujhse baat kr rhe the? But vo awaaz? Aisa kaise ho skta hai?

N: C'mon Wifey, tumhara pati ek Acp hai. Voice changing device se leke voice alteration sb aata hai hme😉.

A: Omg! This is really shocking and mujhe shaq bhi nhi hua😍. And tum Punjabi bhi itni achhi bol rhe the ki......

Avni suddenly realised she was talking to her same husband about whom she was complaining sometime before. The whole argument flashed of the night in front of her. The way he shouted on her. The way he didn't spare a look on her in Morning.

A: Oh wait, Acp Neil Khanna, right? Aapke paas mujhse baat krne ka time aaya kahan se Sir? Ya phir ye call kisi case se related h.

Neil squeezed his eyes, his smiling face converted to an apologetic one. Guilt was already eating him and her words did no good.

N: Avi I.....

A(cutting him off, hurt tone): Avi nhi Sir, Avni, it's Avni. And itna chota sa naam to hai, Avni se Avi krne ka mtlb hi kya hai? Ek n htane se kya fark pd jayega.

Neil didn't know how to reply her. His own words played in his mind.

Flashback...

A: Neil hua kya h?

N: For God's sake Avni, mujhe abhi kuch baat nhi krni hai.

A: Neil🥺! Avni? Tum to mujhe....

N(cutting her off): Ha ha pta hai Avi bulata hu, so what? Mujhe smjh nhi aata ek n htane se kya fark pd jayega? Avni ka Avi krne ka mtlb hi kya hai?

Saying so, he banged the cupboard's door and went in the washroom leaving a broken Avni behind.

She stressed the word Sir, somewhere trying to show how hurt she was but Neil was happy that she gave him a chance.

A: Avni😒....

N: Avni. Kl....kl hm ek murder site pe gye the. Hme kisine khbr di thi ki vha culprit h and we were almost near him but hmari special team me bhi koi gaddar nikla and before we could reach him, vo haath se nikl gya. Vo vha saboot mitane aaya tha. And for the same Commissioner sir ne bhi achha sunaya. Somewhere I held it inside myself. Mai decide krke aaya tha ki chahe kuch ho jaye I won't talk to u cauz m apna sara gussa tumpe nhi nikalna chahta tha but at last hua vhi jis baat ka mujhe dar tha. I'm sorry wifey. I'm really sorry😣.

Ik jbse hmari life normal hui h, mai pehle jaisa nhi rha. It's just that mai nhi chahta ki Vidyut ki hi trh mere iss risky job ki wjh se, meri family pe, especially tumpe koi musibat aaye but khi na khi ye bhul gya ki meri wife ko meri zaroorat h🥺. Aur to aur mai apni Avi k saath time spend krne k liye kitna mr rha tha maine ispe bhi dhyaan dena chod diya. Love, mai koi justification nhi de rha. Just bta rha hu, iske baad agr tumhe mujhe maaf nhi krna to it's ok, I deserve it😞.

Aur jahan tk baat rhi kl ki to tumhe kya lgta h mai chain ki neend so paya tumhe vo sb bolne k baad? Ofc not Jaan. I'm so restless since then. Ek mauka chahiye tha tumse baat krne ka, raat ko tum room se chli gyi thi aur subah kitchen me thi, aur jb time mila to mai himmat hi nhi juta paya😣. I was so filled with guilt ki mujhe smjh nhi aa rha tha mai kaise face kru tumhe🥺. Lekin phir police station aane k baad bhi jb mera kisi kaam me mn nhi lga to I thought to talk to u but mai jaanta tha tum mujhse baat kroge so this.......👉👈!

He heard her sighing. She was sniffing slowly, wiping her tears.

N: Avi mai nhi chahta tum mujhe maaf kro, I don't deserve ur forgiveness but for god's sake, meri gltiyo ki saza khudko mt do. Plz khud ko torture Mt kro. Mai khudko kbhi maaf nhi kr paunga. Plz don't cry, I hate ur tears🥺.

A: Do u.....do u even know how much tears u've given in this time period🙁?

N: I........I don't have any justification, I'm sorry😭. Mai ek achha pati nhi bn paya Avi, I'm so sorry😭.

A: I'll kill u, ACP Khanna!

N: Huh?

A: Haan, I'll kill u if u even dare to say anything about my husband. He is definition of perfection. Glti tumhari hai, u Acp, it's ur fault, mere Neilu ko dosh mt do and now that u've realised ur mistake, mere pati ko apni qaid se azaad kro vrna I'll kill u literally.

Neil chuckled in tears listening her. How did he got so lucky to have such an understanding life partner.

Avni too chuckled listening him. Both wiped their tears smiling.

A: Ye mt sochna ki maine tumhe maaf kr diya hai. Itni aasani se maafi nhi milegi tumhe. Tumhe ye Sara time compensate krna pdega.

N: With all pleasure, my love😌. Ek baar ye case solve ho jaye to mai lmbi chhutti lunga and hm kahin ghumne chlenge. Sirf tum aur mai.

He stressed on interest making her blush on his double meaning talks.

N: Ha kiya hai na. ( Singing) Tera naam liya, hoooo, tujhe yaad kiya.

Dd(calling out): Sirji! Commissioner sir aapko bula rhe hain.

Both laughed at her statement.

He didn't get any response as she already hung up the phone. He shook his head in disbelief. While on the other side Avni's face was all back to glowing.

B: Avni!

A: Ji Bebe.

B: Kaun tha?

A: "Wrong number" Bebe.

B: Itni der kaun baat krta hai kisi Anjaan se?

A: Vo actually Bebe, unki language smjh nhi aa rhi thi to time lg gya.

B: Achha chl changa. Ab ja aur sukoon ki neend lele.

Bebe turned to go in her room while Avni smiled seeing the telephone in her hand.

A: Sukoon to mil gya Bebe 😌! The perfect "wrong number" ever🙈!

Neil and Avni both slightly hit the phone to their foreheads smiling, already excited for the change of events that were about to take place in their life.
