Daily Doodle- Hydrogen

I was up late last night on the Internet while sick and started stumbling into Weird Internet Shit. I don't think I can adequately describe the feeling but it's kind of like being weightless? Anyways I've been listening to this song (above) on repeat for hours and I figured I'd draw to it (because it's not like I have a fuckton of writing or something I need to be doing...)

I know I said at the beginning of August I'd be drawing every day and I've been doing a lot of art I haven't posted here. I've just felt that most of my art has been... not quite up to my normal standards? Do I even have standards for this book though

not really

Have some amalgals.

(these are not redesigns i was just being artsy btw)

you've got a ghost on your shoulder, girl

I really don't want to spoil Mimsy's arc but for a long time running she has been one of my favorite Chronaverse characters. The Amalgams (speaking of such, I really need to change that name... rip me) are always trying to balance their humanity with their more bestial side but because of trauma Mimsy is pretty determined to get far away from people as she can... although the giant, invisible feline that haunts her and tells her she can't trust anyone around her is probably not helping. A vague attachment to the group and the unspoken threat of prosecution is all that keeps her bound to anything.

i need to stop writing twins who don't like each other because most twins i've met are actually really close (I mean... does NaLo/the Eudican trio count?) but Mary and Gillian are identical twins... if they don't look identical it's because they're shapeshifters, but they did come from "one" experiment before splitting into their current selves. They were supposed to be a supersoldier capable of limb regeneration, blindly loyal and incapable of feeling fear, but Mary got the lack of fear and Gillian got the limb regeneration. Mary causes 80% of the resets. Mary will deck cars, beat the crap out of anyone who gets in her way, and do anything to piss Red off. Gillian, on the other hand, is scarier in a much quieter way. She is unstoppable. Good luck killing her. Good luck surviving if someone sics her on you. All you have to do is take Mary out of the sky. You can't win against Gillian.

Adaline is a remnant of my continued obsession with wendigos but also a play on the "repressed rage" trope that seems to plague cute characters... although she's afraid of this 'other self' and spends a lot of time bottling up her feelings which is healthy, trust me guys.

MMMMMMMM I really can not wait to get started on this book but I'm also going to get absolutely flooded by (nasally voice) "THIS CHARACTER REMINDS ME OF 'X'" and I just can't wait for that, and by I can't wait, I mean I am dreading it. Also there are 12 main characters, time travel, there's essentially no plot outside of character-driven drama (and a road trip), aaaaaaand most of these kids spend half the book trying to murder each other. I have absolutely no clue how I'm going to convince anyone to read it because it's Deja Vu levels of "I wrote this for an audience of one person, and the person is me" although that seems to have worked out fine.

Ironically for all I preach about originality my first few original stories ended up being "sparkledog /sentient animal hell", "what if some random kids got to be superheroes, I'm not saying us, but totally us,", and "lab kids". As far as I can tell these are like... three of the most common plots amateur writers go with. I guess a lot of my stories are more heavy on characters and then trope subversion, but anyone who's actually finished my books knows the real reason I write is to wreak havoc on your emotions.
