so i was thinking recently that i have enough characters to do whatever the fuck i want and so of course i'm castswapping now. feel free to request. i doubt i'll keep doing these but they're fun so i might end up doing a few requests.

Rena and Gale in the Deja Vu style. They're in a three-cell group with Indy but they get all their friends in on it so the "Lira City Defenders" are officially unofficially part of it, even though they have no powers. Their cherub is super pissed with them. Anyways DV!The Cities Have Fallen has the same drama (although I don't know about the deaths... probably not the same ones but still some deaths) because Deja Vu will never not be dramatic but it's a bunch of suburban kids pitted against an epidemic... like the epidemic from TCHF doesn't fit in well but I'd go with zombie plague mixed with the Yeerk takeover from animorphs and it's some crazy power held by someone with a sixteen-ish cell Diosite- they can control minds and the like- and then the whole group takes his Diosite and work together to defeat a new villain in the third act.

Rena can manifest up to fix wings (Saltkin is a song name and it's basically her personality) but the more she has, the less in control she is of her own body. That's where Gale comes in- it's a running joke that his powers are so mediocre he barely uses them, but he's Rena's anchor to reality.

Evan Drake in Dreamland. Canonically he's on Gale's auspexism list but if I was just to translate him over directly he'd be a Teeyu because uncontrollable powers, poor family situation, and angst. Plus he's so cute. Look at him.

Anyways he'd be a Canira for a few incarnations, definitely a Felis at least once, and then he'd be Adam's companion (Adam being a dragon in this case) and Megan would be his other companion. Two companions is rare... I mean not too rare, but it's still rare. The three of them would die together and then you've got an Adamegevan singular heartline. The three of them together forever. Yep. Dreamland.

Mimsy from Out Of Bounds. Out Of Bounds is probably hard to mesh with Amalgama because of how seriously everyone in that book takes themselves (Amalgama not OOB) but I'm sure I could do something fun with these guys? Anyways Mimsy is "a cat, on all levels but physical" and quotes anime and public. She and Red live in the same neighborhood and he confesses a lot to her (he came out to her first in eighth grade) and everyone's like "why are you telling this kid who is four years younger than you all of your secrets".

Mimsy is at once the most and least mature person he knows. She's cool with aliens being a thing because she knew that already. Also she gets cat ears. She pretends they're part of her headphones. Everyone is fooled by this. Or maybe they just don't want to deal with Mimsy??? 

Out Of Bounds Megan gets siren alien powers and frills that resemble her Deja Vu dress. They're gills. Aliens. Anyways she wears a scarf to cover them up but it's summer so 

why 

anyways everyone has a crush on Megan in this AU and Evan definitely kisses like almost everyone because OOB is a lot less serious than Deja Vu.

Will in Dreamland. Procyon is the more feminine moon (the larger one, duh). I don't actually know Will's alignment. It's killing me. I think he'd probably have a cool aptitude though. He wouldn't unlock it until he was really done with puberty and then it would just CLICK on. I'm thinking some kind of spirit companion... like a Patronus-esque deal? that would remind him of things and help him handle panic attacks and stuff like that. Think Shiloh but less manipulative.

Anyways DV!Dylan would still be a shapeshifter so I went for a beast tamer/trickster deal but I'm sure if I ever redraw it, it will be less clunky. 

Deja Vu Emmy (It's short for Emnity). She's my personal bullshit Amalgam even though most of them are almost self-inserts anyways.  Anyways it's hard to balance her rogue theme with those strips which have ALWAYS been a theme- her theme is eyes. Like "always watching" kind of eyes. 

Out of Bounds Elle has some body issues which has kind of made her life miserable? Then this happens and she really can't cover up what the weird bug alien DNA does to her body- the mandibles are not a good look for her. She has to deal with how she views herself in order to really make any progress in the book and Kali's there to help her out, and maybe they're not AWFUL in this AU? Maybe???

Honestly most of the CANON OOB cast doesn't have any physical evidence of their alien form but 1) I have to differentiate the AU designs somehow and 2) Amalgama has always been about the self and body horror anyways so I do what I want 

plus my thing with animal/alien/inhuman features in general on human characters is kind of a teen angst thing. It's like an externalization of their issues? Because when you're hurting on the inside, people will just deny anything is wrong and start blaming you for whatever you're feeling, but when it's physical, you can't DENY that. You just have to fucking DEAL with it. That forces confrontation between characters and themselves, their loved ones, society... you can't stuff it back in there.

Nat Amalgam. Yes that is a dog skull and one of Lotus's lillies there in the middle. Nat's amalgam passive power (think Red's time travel or Alex's electricity generation) is that she experiences time slower than everyone else, so she feels trapped in her own body which won't respond to her movements and every small thing is a BIG! DEAL! She's a mess I had a hard time carrying over her struggles with her immortality because all the amalgams are around the same age creation-wise but I think I did it
