I woke up with a start. I sighed. "Another bad dream" I thought.

I got them occasionally , not very often , but when I did they were nerve-racking. I sat up in bed cautiously , and turned on the fairy lights hanging above my bed. Okay you can stop laughing now , I get it , I'm fourteen and I'm still afraid of the dark. Well , that's not entirely true. I'm not afraid of the dark - I'm afraid of the things hiding in it!

I checked the time on my phone - it was 4:53 am! "Ugh! What will I do until then? I'll never be able to get back to sleep!" I thought to myself.

I got up out of bed and equipped with my torch, I wandered downstairs. I found my way to the kitchen and opened the fridge "oh yum! chocolate milk!" I whispered happily to no one but myself. Suddenly, there was a loud, piercing cry. Shocked, I looked over to where the scream had come from, dropping my chocolate milk in process, glass shattering everywhere. "Shit!" I muttered, looking down at the mess I had just created forgetting momentarily about what had made me jump.

I felt a hand on my back. Whatever it was whispered something that sent shivers down my spine. "Hello Riley" it said. My breathing stopped. "This is a dream right? " I thought to myself. I turned to face what had spoken.

"Emily! Emily! Listen to me! It's okay! Listen! Emily!"

My dad was trying to get my attention, yelling above the noise I was making but I couldn't hear him. I was sitting curled up in the corner of the kitchen, pressed up against the cabinets, screaming.

"Em! What happened?" mum asked gently trying to calm me down.

I ignored them. They knew exactly what happened. But they didn't stop it.

I awoke a few hours later in my bed. My parents must have carried me to my bedroom. I was exhausted. I sat up, yawning and rubbing my eyes. What happened the night before sunk in. He had called me Riley. No one has called me that since I was about seven years old. "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! " I thought to myself, freaking out internally "He knows what happened! He knows what I did!"

I hopped out of bed and ran downstairs as quick as I could. Dad was sitting at the kitchen table reading the newspaper and mum was drinking her coffee while looking at her phone. They looked up as I entered the room. "Mornin' sweetie" my dad greeted me. I smiled in return. They didn't mention anything that happened the night before. "What would you like for breakfast?" my mum asked me. I just stared at her blankly. "Toast? Pancakes?" she continued. Were they serious? They weren't going to talk about it? "I'm not going to school today!" I announced ignoring her question. My dad put down his newspaper and turned to look at me. "Why not?" he asked gravely. I stared at him with a stern expression on my face."You know why" I repied. He slammed his newspaper on the table. "There's nothing wrong with you!" he said angrily, his voice getting louder. "I'M NOT GOING!" I yelled back. My dad just stared at me, shocked. I turned, marched up to my room and locked the door. They couldn't make me go! Nope! I was going to stay locked in my room all day until one of them finally comes up and tells me exactly what the fuck happened last night.

Hey guys! Guess who's back? (Back again!).... It's me! Sorry for , you know, disappearing off the face of the earth again! To be completely honest I don't know where I've been or what I've been doing but it's been a while (*cough* the last time you published was the 20th of May *cough*) yeahhh.... it's been a long time. This is the 3rd time I've written this author's note because wattpad decided that it didn't like it and it should be left out and I'm just adding this sentence in because I like the feeling of not writing the same thing as I had the past two times. Reading back on this story WHAT THE HELL WAS PAST ME THINKING?!?! I need to go back and edit this story because it's terrible.
