As my eyes scanned the crowd, my lips set into a thin, unamused line. Don't get me wrong, it was a good party but that was partly the problem itself. It was good but not in any way remarkable, there was nothing extraordinary here that interested me. Everything was typical, ear-splitting music, dancing, raunchy laughter and not to mention the abominable amounts of liquor, everything that you could expect in a collegiate party, but I was thoroughly bored.
I was a regular at the parties that the people here hosted and day by day, party after party, I can say that it's becoming more of a monotonous routine than anything even remotely fun and I had had enough now. Ruffling my teal coloured hair, I got off of the kitchen counter to go in search of my friends and tell them that I was leaving, but all of that changed when you came.
A high pitched squeal followed by a thunderous laughter- I heard you first before I saw you. And when I finally did see you, I knew I had made the best decision of my life yet by coming to this party. You were wearing a short black dress with a denim jacket and vans, and your brown curls refused to be tamed, peeking out from underneath your black beanie. Even though you were with your girlfriends who grabbed most of the attention from the minute they stepped in, all immaculately dressed and looking perfect, you were the only one I had my eyes on. You all stood there meeting the host and talking to a few other friends. Judging from the distance and the lack of proper lighting, I could see that you were petite compared to your friends and a little plump too and I couldn't stop myself from indescreetly ravishing your looks from head to toe. But when the party lights hit you, that was when I lost my breath.
Your eyes were a dark chocolate brown, so warm and inviting and they were sparkling even brighter now while your eyes crinkled with childlike innocence as you giggled. Your chin was held up high and an aura of confidence surrounded you. You wore your smile proudly, your thin lips easily curving into that heart-breaking cupid's bow. Everything about you screamed "different" and I was completely, undividedly, intrigued.
You all split up soon, with your friends heading towards the crowd and you, heading my way to the kitchen. A few catcalls and whistles were thrown your way but you just glared at them, not even giving them the satisfaction of a reply whilst your feet managed to keep walking until you reached the other side of the kitchen. Now that you were here, within reaching distance from me, I couldn't ignore the way my heartbeat seemed to keep increasing steadily or the way my palms were becoming sweatier by the minute, at the mere sight of you. There was just something really organic and natural about you, like you didn't even bother trying to be like the rest of them, weren't trying to be perfect yet here you were looking absolutely perfect in my eyes. You proceeded to pour yourself a cup of that vile tasting alcohol and just stood there taking the crowd in. And I knew better than to not question fate and to welcome opportunity with open arms when it beckoned me, and I did just that.
I set my cup of liquor down, adjusted my glasses, pulled down on my Darth Vader tee shirt, and set out to talk to you. Little did I know, I truly had made one of the best decisions of my life by coming to this party.
