v

marissa downed another shot of wine and closed her eyes tightly, this wine had been impeccably strong.

she continued to drag her cigarette butt on the ashtray, her life was failing. first her divorce, then the death of jezebel, now the death of maddie.

she had promised to protect maddie, and she had failed. hazel had been late again, hanging out with that boy. it crazed marissa, hazel couldn't end up like maddie.

it was late at night, and hazel opened the front door tiredly. she had went to the library with danny, researching jonestown and the ledger family. it was always the same results with the ledger family. health came from a wealthy family in australia, they were always good samaritans, and stayed out legal trouble.

until heath of course, what was this sudden change? for jonestown, half of the books and scribes were heavily protected anyways. hazel just had to focus on her prior knowledge for it then.

marissa stood up and crossed her arms, giving her daughter a stern look. "hazel, why in god's name are you out so late! it's dangerous out there! oh mon dieu!" marissa started to rant making hazel roll her eyes.

"hazel! you need to be protected" marissa declared loudly, making her daughter wince. "mother please, you're drunk" hazel said quietly, only angering her mother more.

"you shouldn't be staying outside so long! what if the same thing that happened to maddie happens to you?" marissa yelled impulsively, making hazel clutched her own wrists tightly. "mother for the last time, you are drunk, it's best you lie down and calm down for a moment, you're being ridiculous and i'm not doing to end up like maddie can you stop!" hazel yelled, earnimg the slap in the face from her outraged mother.

after marissa slapped her, regret filled her eyes. hazel held her red cheek in disbelief, tears brimmed her tear ducts and she choked on her own words that wouldn't formulate.

"hazel-" marissa said sweetly, trying to comfort her daughter. hazel stepped away from her mother and raised a finger in front of her. "don't touch me" hazel said, running upstairs and closing her bedroom door.

she can hear her mother weeping downstairs, which only triggered her to silently weep. hazel felt her tears cascade down her slightly bruised cheek, it stung.

hazel's eyes wandered her room. her from was forest green, filled with minimalist items and succulents. she had taped polaroids of her and maddie and other family members.

those were her happiest memories.

with her parents divorce and maddie's death, it only brought more and more melancholy. this was her family's own redemption, their poisioned wounds wouldn't heal.

hazel wiped her tears and stood up. she couldn't stay like this forever. she opened her bag to reveal all the information her and danny had collected the past couple of days.

historical books, references, archived logs, and other items. she opened a book about jonestown, the word still haunted her. as hazel skimmed the pictures of the fake smiles in the photographs, she came across jim jones himself.

"what was so admirable about him?" hazel said quietly, as she tucked a piece of hair in the crevice of her ear. she looked up from the book for her eyes to wander to a polaroid of her aunt jezebel. she was so beautiful.

she had bright red hair and green eyes, just like hazel's grandmother. marissa had all her father's looks. maddie had inherited all her mother's looks, and whomever her father was there was no trace of him in her looks.

as hazel studied the photgraph intently, she noticed something off about the photo. she reached for the photograph of her aunt jezebel and held it closely.

"who's arm is around her waist?" hazel said quietly as she studied it even harder. hazel looked back at the jonestown textbook and widened her eyes at the sight.

she carefully lined the photograph of her aunt jezebel to the photograph of jim jones.

it fit.

the original photograph constited of jim jones standing up, leaning on a rail of some sort, with a wooden house in the background. part of his arm cut off, yet jezebel's polaroid when put next to it, finishes where his hand was originally supposed to be.

"jim and my aunt knew each other personally?" hazel whispered. this was compelling evidence she needed to show danny tomorrow. she quickly put it in her bag and hid the bag underneath her bed.

as she stood up off her bed, her mother instantly came in her daughter's room, making them both let out a big sigh. "i'm sorry hazel, these past years have been difficult on me and i was worried about you. you're all i have. your father is gone, maddie, jezebel, they're gone." marissa explained sadly making hazel nod.

"i know, i'm aware. i understand your viewpoint on all of these crazy and unorthodox event's we are being put in, just i'd rather not you become physical" hazel said, making her mother let out a small chuckle.

"noted, the school called, are you ready to return?" marissa said, making hazel glup. "i guess so" hazel shrugged. "hazel i need a yes or no, i don't want to put you in an uncomfortable environment" marissa said. "i'll go back to school" hazel said, making her mother nod.

"and what of that heath boy? your dear cousins ex boyfriend." marissa said, making hazel lift one eyebrow up in curiosity. "and what about him? innocent until proven gulity, i'm not going into this blindly mother" hazel said, crossing her arms.

marissa nodded and sighed. "i suppose so, just be safe, promise me that"

"i promise."

"arthur, give me an hand will you?" annie pope pleaded softly to her husband. arthur pope took the two plates of spaghetti from his wife and placed it in front of his two sons.

danny had been dozing off, thinking about his next conversation with hazel, wondering what compelling piece of evidence she found. annie noticed her absent son and smiled. "what are you thinking about danny?" she said, sitting down at the table.

danny looked at his mother and shook his head. "nothing important" danny said making his younger brother scoff.  "he's probably thinking about that girl he's aways with" harry said making arthur smile lightly.

"danny? you have a girlfriend?" arthur asked him, making danny shake his head frantically. "she's not my girlfriend! she's just a friend, we go out and go to maria's café sometimes" danny explains. "sometimes? more like all the time, everyday, 24/7!" harry says making danny roll his eyes.

"well honey what's her name" annie asked. "it's hazel calais" danny said making the dinner table go silent. "calais? she's related to maddie?" arthur said making danny nod. "they were cousins" danny said.

"sweetie, i think it's best you don't hang out with her." annie says making danny widen his eyes. "what? why?" danny asked frantically. "she's dangerous, whoever killed maddie might go after hazel next, since you're always with her who knows what might happen." arthur explained.

"hazel needs me more than ever, i can't just leave her in her time of grief" danny said making his parents sigh. "danny, we don't want you to get hurt" annie says making danny shake his head.

"i'm not leaving her, so it's either a life or death situation i'm willing to take. be optimistic here, i need to help her, let me be" danny pleaded, he didn't need to hear more though. he ran to his room and closed his door.

he let out a sigh and shook his head. there was no way he was leaving hazel, that's for sure. he adored having her as a friend, he shouldn't waste. danny walked up to his window and stared.

it was raining, it didn't look happy anymore. winter was just in a few more days, this was going to be a long november. he noticed the rain gave a soft but subtle beat.

tap tap tap

like a lullaby, maybe it was a reach but he needed comfort. suddenly, he noticed a light figure of a red headed woman, she was extremely sad.
was he hallucinating? as soon as he blinked she was gone, just as in instant.

then he spotted a man running down the street, soaking wet from the pouring rain. danny looked hard and noticed it was heath.

what was he doing? what was he running from?

what was going on?

/N: HI! it's been a while like 4 days ha. hope you like this s p o o k so far.

i'm not adding supernatural to this. the red headed woman was jezebel (duh), danny would have recognized if it was maddie.

to explain that "scene" it was like jezebel's spirit. that is the only supernatural element i'm adding!
just saying

that scene ONLY!

what do you think heath was running from?

did you find any clues so far?
