Wanda Maximoff
A.k.a Scarlet Witch
"It's sad when people you know become people you knew." -Unknown
You could have saved me, a voice hisses from the darkness surrounding the Scarlet Witch. Something grabs her shoulder and yanks her to the floor. You could have saved me! It yells before the darkness becomes long chains and engulf the Scarlet Witch.
She thrashes herself awake, warm salty tears streaming along her cheeks. A choking sob escapes her lips as her body convulses with fear. That voice has been haunting her for ten years. It has been the thing that battles her through the night and the thing that threatens to take her sanity through the day. It is the voice of her dead brother, Pietro. Leaning her head against the bed frame, she stares at the blank ceiling. This was something Wanda did when ever she woke up from nightmares, in hope she would soon find sleep again. Like always though, it was impossible. No matter what, she would always end up wandering to her living room to binge watch Criminal Minds. That show has a way of facinating Wanda, all the strange killers and character backrounds, it really interested the Scarlet Witch.
Slowly she threw off her thick red comforter, swinging her legs over the side. In a slow shuffe she makes it to the living room, flicking on the small lamp that sits on the coffee table. Sluggishly, she moves to sit down. Wanda presses the Netflix button and snuggles into the giant wolf blanket. She turns to her most watched and finds Criminal Minds. Clicking, scrolling down to Season 2 -Revelations. She has not made it too far in the series, but she knows someday she will make it all the way up to the final episode. Sadly it left CBS a couple years ago because all the stories within it came to an close.
About fifteen minutes into the episode, someone begins banging on her door repeatedly, almost in a frenzy. Quickly Wanda stands up, rushing over to see who it could be. A young women stands on the other side, still banging on the door, glancing around her hurriedly. Not thinking twice about this, Wanda throws open the door. The woman looks up at the red head with grateful eyes. Wanda shuts the door, clicking her locks into place.
"Thank you." The stranger says rubbing her arms nervously. "My name's Tala." She adds her voice breaking half way through. Wanda's heart reaches out to the woman in front of her. She could see the bruises and scars scattering her body, probably internally scarred worse than the eye can see. Wanda understanding the need for privacy sometimes, stays out of Tala's head.
"I'm Wanda. Would you like some tea?" Tala's eyes dart around the house looking even more nervous. "Promise I won't hurt you." Her hand brushes Tala's shoulder and she flinches away from the contact. Wanda retracts her hand, smiling sadly at her. What happened to this poor little thing? She thinks to herself gesturing for Tala to sit on the couch.
"Tea would be nice." Tala whispers sitting on the couch.
"Feel free to watch what you want." Wanda says moving to the small kitchen to make the tea.
Just as the microwave beeps, Wanda yells to Tala. "Do you want sugar in your tea?" Nothing. "Tala?" Wanda says grabbing the glass and carrying it with her to go check on Tala.
As Wanda turns the corner, she looks on the couch, seeing no one there. Had years of solitude made the Scarlet Witch hallucinate a woman? Cocking her head to the side, she never saw it coming. Then it all made sense as the needle pokes into her neck.
"Forgive me." Tala says catching Wanda as the drugs kicked in, the glass of tea slipping through her grasp and shattering on the floor. Shards falling everywhere.
