" Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
-Martin Luther King Junior
We all make mistakes. We all fall down, scraping out knees as we go, but not all of us lose what little humanity we have left. When one is immortal, you can't stay in one place because the scrapes and scars covering you aren't the only issue. It is the little pieces of yourself that die with each person that leaves your life in death. That small part in the conscience that says there is always hope for the future. To Andromeda, time has begun to blend together leaving it all behind. Leaving her broken and irregular past behind. Her earlier years erased and unknown to her. She still remembered her past. Where she was born and how she came to be, but that was it. She just decided it would be for the better that she pushes her old lives away.
"Welcome back to Shield." Phil says leading the Captain inside the room the rest of the original Avengers sit.
"So Cap, they dragged you into this mess too." Tony says coming up to his old friend. Steve gives a small smile.
"Well, I wouldn't want to miss a chance to see you." Tony raises his eyebrows at the Captains sarcasm.
"Looks like the past ten years have changed you." Tony says bumping into Steve, a cocky grin spread across his face. Steve throws his arm casually over Tony's shoulder, looking over everyone. They all looked older, but relatively the same.
"It's changed us all." Steve says with one of his genuine smiles. Each of them laughs, looking at each other. Everyone was here, well except Thor, he was still in Asgard. They all begin talking and making wide hand gestures, describing what they havw been doing for the last decade. Well that was until Fury entered, then it got eerily silent.
"You have all been briefed on the mission and the war ahead, but you have yet to meet the new Avengers. For the last nine years they have been training for war, and now they are ready." Fury gives a rare, once and a while smile to the original team before turning away. He waves them forward to follow him to the observation room of the training center.
"Agent Hill." Fury says into his earpiece, within seconds she was at his side. Ready for anything. "Assemble the Avengers and tell them to go to the training room. I believe they are in the living quarters. Tell them to show off all abilities." She nods running off to the control room, it seemed almost impossible for her to get there so fast, but she did. The page was sent and now all they could do was wait for them to arrive.
Slowly, a group of laughing people wander into the room. They looked so carefree and it angered the original Avengers.
"Fury... Do you really plan on ruining these kids futures? Destroy everything about them? Change them into people who cannot see the good the world has to offer?" Natasha says moving towards the glass, her eyes solely trained on Declan.
"Romanoff, those people in that room lost everything before they were even five. I honestly don't think anything in your life compares to their pasts." Natasha clenches her jaw... It doesn't surprise her that Shield is taking in broken beings to fit their needs.
"So Fury, I was wondering.... Why are we training, when we could be helping to find out who our enemies are?" A thick Russian accent says, a girl with black and purple hair held in a high pony tail comes out. Bruce lets out a chuckle. In doesn't surprise him to see Isobel in that room. Their conversation proved that she was powerful and persuasive.
"You are here to demonstrate all abilities to the Original Avengers." The same girl from before lets out a loud laugh. She moves towards the center of the room, a smirk proudly displayed.
"Well Fury." She pauses, adding extreme emphasis on his name. "I don't believe them sitting in a room watching us shows our true capabilities. Why don't we do head to head? You randomly pick an original avenger, and then one of us. Show them who's tougher." A sigh echoes from the training room, a girl with red hair approaches the place where the purple haired girl stands. She smacks her upside the head, before turning towards the window.
"What my dear friend neglected to say, it would be an honor to fight against you." The girl from before makes a face pretending to imitate the red head.
"Are you okay with this?" Fury asks turning to the team, unsure of how this could go.
"Since when does Fury ask if we are okay with something?" Clint asks with a light laugh. Fury does not look a bit amused by his antics.
"Since I don't want you to hold me responsible for any damage they cause." The original Avengers look to the Director somewhat confused. Damage? They don't even look like they could hurt a fly. "Alright. Follow me." He says before turning down the stairs.
Black Widow approaches Clint whispering in his ear. "What can they do?" She asks hopeful that maybe he knows that, but he does nothing more than shake his head. It bothered her that she is going into that room without knowing. Of course she remembers what Declan can do, but what about the others.
"I asked Fury about the new team.... He changed the subject. Guess he didn't want to tell us anything." Clint says recalling his conversation with Fury when he came to his home to recruit him. Natasha nods walking beside her best friend, no matter how long it may have been. She still felt their friendship burning strong. On her end that is.
They arrive in the training room and are quickly put on the opposite side of a mat from the others. They all look so small and weak, but the original Avengers know to not underestimate people who have the ability to scare Fury.
"First up on the mat is..." He pauses for a slight second. "Danni and Clint." Clint walks up to the mat at the same time as a man about twenty five, with dark hair and eyes. He looked Korean. His lips are pressed in a firm line and eyes are glued onto Clint.
"No weapons. "Clint says, but Danni just shakes his head.
"You can use your bow, I don't need a weapon." It takes a minute, but Clint shakes his head.
"I think I can handle you without a bow." Danni just smirks at Clint's idiocy. Obviously he wasn't taking Fury's warning too seriously.
"I doubt that old man." Danni's hands clench and unclench. His nails digging into his palms.
The two circle around the mat, their eyes trained on each other. Clint is the first to make a move, running straight at the man in front of him. Danni easily side steps him, Clint falls onto the ground. Being the person Danni is, he holds his hand out to Clint. To him, training was only successful if done right. And that meant not being an ass about everything. Clint grasps onto the hand and stands up, nodding towards him. They get into positions and begin to fight again. This time Danni makes the first move. With a flick of his wrist a ball of flames hovers on his palm, with a small smile he throws it to the ground in front of Clint. Another movement in his hand, and flame began to circle Clint quickly, growing higher and higher.
