Day 16
Mkay, so this first part is based off the first like five minutes of Dan's coming out video. Because y'all won't give me motherfucking prompts. I've run dry of ideas dammit.
Steve had been bullied every single day as a child. He remembers it as clear as day.
It all started when he was six. He was a happy, yet scrawny child. He would make up stories, run around, smile all the time. It was just his nature. He was pure and innocent, until public school. ( A/n, weren't we all. )
When he was six, he was on the playground. Smiling, as usual. Running around, pretending to be an aero plane. Until these two kids came, two brothers, one seven, the other eight.
The younger looked at Mini-Steve, pushed him into the ground. Kicked him in the stomach, and yelled. "GAY"
What an absolute failure of parenting! This small child, didn't know a thing about him, he had never talked to him before. Yet he kicked him in the stomach and yelled at him!
Now, little Steve wasn't sure what a "gay" was. But if a child would kick another child in the stomach because of it, he was sure it wasn't good.
Tears came to his eyes. When a hand offered itself to him. A bigger hand than his own, and he accepted the help.
There was his classmate, James, in all his glory. James was popular with the girls. Why wouldn't he be? He had a smart haircut, chocolate brown eyes, and was a gentleman down to the core. Steve said his sorry's, no thank you's, good mornings, but he did it meeker. Not as dashing as James.
Steve was a scrawny, yet happy boy. People liked him, but more as a friend. And a lot of boys didn't like him because he couldn't play their games. He was sickly most of the time.
But after that incident, it never mattered to James.
"O-oh, t-thank you. James." Steve stuttered out.
The boy smiled. "Don't call me James, that's my fathers name. How 'bout....." James ought for a minute. "Bucky. Call me Bucky."
From that moment on, the boys became the best of friends.
The boys grew up together, and when Steve's parents died, he lived with Bucky for a time.
And everyday. Steve thanked that kid on the playground. Who delivered him his best friend in the world.
When Stve was older, he had learned what the word 'gay' meant. But he didn't care. Gay used to mean happy anyways.
Steve was happy with Bucky.
IMPORTANT SUPER IMPORTANT INTERRUPTION OF CHAPTER. READ PLZ
Okay guys who have stuck with me through my crappy chapters, after I publish this chapter. I'm changing the first two chapters.
So like, I know the first two chapters are crappy. I'm a new author. I don't know if it's because it's Stony or what, but people tend to stop reading after the first chapter. And that makes me sad. So....... I'm switching the order of the chapters. I think I'm going to make either chapter three or chapter four and five the first two chapters so that people will actually read.
I'm also changing the title of the story because it's Jesus's gonna be a oneshot book with lots of LGBTQ themes. Because it's not entirely about LGBTQ.
So..... Yeah.
BACK TO THE STORY
( A/n, somebody please tell me whether it's spelled Realise or Realize because I live in the States and am ignorant.)
He didn't realize immediately that he was gay. It was a slow process with a lot of confusion.
He would see Bucky in nothing but a towel, and he'd get red-faced and would turn around. Just natural embarrassment. He told himself. Nothing to question yourself over.
When Bucky would tousle his hair, he'd freeze, but it felt good. He always coached himself. "You're just surprised. It's nothing to think about."
Once and a while, he'd think about what 'gay' meant in their society. It was a bad word. Fay's were strange people. Confused people. That's what he had been told by his parents.
But when he thought about Bucky, he didn't think it was that weird for males to like males.
He'd see Bucky with women, he always was a ladies man. And he'd get jealous. He wanted to be the one who had their arms snaking up Bucky's biceps.
Then, at that point, Steve knew he had a problem.
Bucky would bring women home to Steves place, so that his parents wouldn't know he was sleeping around. Then Steve would have to hear some slut moan his friend/huge crush's name. Over and over into the night. Steve would grit his teeth and stick his fingers in his ears. He didn't tell Buck to stop, after all, he wanted Bucky's happiness above all. But why couldn't he be happy with him?
Bucky didn't know of Steve's emotions until one morning after the girl left. He was pouring a cup of coffee after the long night when he heard sobbing. He put down his mug to investigate.
There he saw Steve, his precious partner. Best friend forever. Curled up with tears staining his face. Bucky immediately rushed over to ask what was wrong.
"B-buck, don't go!" Steve suddenly left up and cling to Bucky. Who gave him a shocked look.
Bucky soon returned the hug, rubbing circles on Steve's back. "What's going on, doll?" Bucky whispered his nickname for Steve, since he was so fragile and (in Bucky's opinion, beautiful.) that just caused the hiccups and sobs to increase.
So they just stood in that position for a long time, Steve calmed down and after a while, Bucky asked wanted to know what was wrong.
"Doll...... What's happening? Did you have a nightmare?"
Steve tensed in his arms. "Well Buck..." He sighed. "I'm living the nightmare."
Bucky looked concerned so Steve continued after disentangling himself from Buck's arms.
"When I hear you with those women...." His voice cracked. "I know that someday you'll leave me, and then I'll be alone. Without you I'm nothing Buck."
Buck's eyes widened. He rushed forward to comfort him but Steve held him at arms length.
Steve looked into Bucky's eyes. "I have a confession."
"I like you."
Bucky was shocked into silence.
Steves eyes began filling with tears again. "I-I know that liking guys is wrong. I know it makes me a freak, but I really like you Bucky. I know this ruins our f-friendship." Steve's voice cracks again. "A-and I won't hold it against you if you never want to see me-"
Bucky swiftly brought Steve into his embrace. "And why would you think that?" He whispered, his voice thick with emotion, eyes glistening with tears.
Steve was shocked to the core.
"Doll, I've liked you since we met on the playground. I saw you, with your pretty blue eyes and blonde hair, all happy. And I wanted to make you smile like that. I knew it since I was six that I wanted to be by your side. Forever."
Steve clung to Bucky for dear life. "I-I just never thought...... That you would accept me. And like me back. It's a dream come true." And he smiled. A huge grin that shined like stars.
Buck smiled back. "Now that's the smile....."
"The smile I love you for."
