Bucky had once asked Steve if he would just lie there with him and forget the world. Steve being the more grounded of the two, refused. Saying that they must help in the war effort. That they must do what they could for their countries.

During the boot camp. Steve would find himself on the floor, Bucky not being able to go to his rescue, like at home. He begun to wonder what would've happened if he had done as Bucky asked. And not cared about the world.

Bucky was merciless in the battlefield. He didn't want his small, frail Steve to get hurt. So he fought like a demon. He begged, he cried. He needed someone to forgive him for killing those men. Steve forgave him. As always.

Bucky Gazed into Steves beautiful blue eyes. Steve had bulked. To a point where he wasn't small, and sickly like he used to be. He looked like a grown man now. But Bucky didn't care that he didn't have a height advantage. He was just glad he could keep himself safe. As long as they could stare into each other's eyes.

They lied down together on the battlefield. Both with terminal injuries. But holding eachother in their last moments. Forgetting the world and all her suffering.
