Engagement~Steve

(I AM BACK MY CHILDREN! And since I was on break at the point where we reached 10K... I GIVE TO YOU... THE FIRST INSTALLMENT OF THE ENGAGEMENT SERIES, AS I PROMISED!)

You adjusted the white straps of your dress as you looked at yourself in the mirror. Steve had simply said to dress up nicely, nothing more. It stressed you out. Was this considered nice enough? It was the best you had, and on such short notice (Steve had literally told you at nine in the morning), there was no way you were going out to get anything. It seemed a bit fitting, anyway, the color scheme of the dress, that is. The fabric covering your chest was a bright red, and the train a sparkling blue, and with the small white straps, it was truly an outfit that the girl who was dating Captain America should be seen in.

You checked your makeup, subtle enough to pass as if you didn't have any, but if you looked closely, you could see small details that you knew would drive Steve insane. Slightly winged eyeliner, mascara, blue eyeshadow, and foundation that almost literally made you sparkle. And just to make him crazy, you'd put your H/C hair in an intricate forties style that had taken nearly two hours. You knew it would drive him nuts, almost to the point of taking you home and, well... Doing that. (You knew this wouldn't happen though, as he had told you before you'd even started dating that he'd never do that outside of marriage, the 1940s man within him couldn't let that happen.)

You just had one final touch. Pulling out the bright red lipstick, you applied it gracefully and closed the cap just as the doorbell rang. You made sure the matte color was perfect before running to the door and opening it.

If Steve's jaw could've gone any lower, it would have been on the other side of the world.

"Hey, handsome!" you said, wrapping your arms around him. "Close your mouth, you're lettin' in flies," you whispered in his ear before you let go of him. His cheeks went redder than your lipstick as he handed you the almost-forgotten white roses.

You quickly put them in a vase before grabbing your purse and following him out the door to where his motorcycle awaited you. After driving for what seemed like years, he finally stopped it, in a place that seemed somewhat familiar, but you couldn't quite place it. He took your hand and walked up some rocks that were too well placed to be naturally stair-like, but still not perfect stairs.

You gasped as soon as you reached the top, when you recognized it. The same waterfall, the same trees. It was where you had had your first date together, although now, instead of a clearing with a picnic blanket, there was a gazebo with fairy lights and a table with candles.

You were nearly in tears as he pulled out your chair and felt your cheeks get warm as he pulled a basket from under the table. It must have been turned into a date spot, you thought.

"I didn't make this, by the way," he said, as he handed you a plate from the basket- lobster, salad, and four cheese macaroni included. He pulled out one of his own, identical to yours, and champagne with two glasses.

You made a bit of small talk while you ate, but he was more reserved than normal. After you were both finished, he took out a plate of brownies, insisting you take the one on the top (a center piece, which was the best part and he knew it). You would usually just chomp into the brownie, but instead took it piece by piece with your fingers.

Steve had gone noticeably silent, and you were about to comment until you felt something very unbrownie-like in your fingers. You pulled it out and nearly fell out of your chair when you saw what it was.

An engagement ring, red, white and blue- fit for any girl. He smiled nervously.

"I'm not real good with words, Y/n... But I'm good with putting on a show, and I guess you got a taste of that just now. So... Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" the man got down on his knee.

"Oh my gosh, yes!" you exclaimed, tackling him onto the grass.

THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE! I AM BACK! BACK FOR GOOD BACK TO STAY IDEK WHATEVER JUST I'M BACK OKAY
