It's Just A Prank, Right? (Bucky)
This one-shot is for Fandom-Princess7875. I hope it's to your liking. I don't usually write for Bucky, so he may be very out of character. As for everyone else, leave your requests in the comments. I like to hear from you, and I'm trying to break my writer's block! Requests are greatly appreciated!
-----------------------------------
"(Y/N), no."
"But Buckyyyyyyy, it'd be so funnnnnn!" You scrambled after the tall, dark, and handsome soldier that was currently walking away from you. "Besides, I have to get Tony back for trying to blackmail me on Chirper. He'd be so mad!"
Bucky rolled his eyes at your childish behavior. "(Y/N), I said 'no.' 'No' means 'no,' okay?"
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"(Y/N)."
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?"
"For gosh sake."
"Bucky..."
"What?"
You puckered your lower lip and rubbed your eyes so they watered.
"Doll, please don't do this to me," he begged. "You know I can't refuse that face..."
"That's why I do it." You moved your hands so your eyes trickled with tears, your pupils dilated, and your lip softly trembled.
This was the face Bucky dreaded the most: The puppy eyes.
You knew he'd give in. He'd never been able to before, even when you first met. He was such a stone-cold man, but the instant you looked at him with your infamous puppy eyes, he melted. You could get whatever you wanted from him just with that look. Gee, are you pitiful or what?
Bucky just stared at you, trying to muster the will to say "no." But, your eyes as they watered and your lips as they trembled - it was like you ensnared him with just a simple look, and he both adored and despised it.
He hated that he was so easily wrapped around your finger. But, if you were happy, he was happy. You had no idea how many nights he'd stayed up mulling over the ways you got him hot and bothered. But, that's his own way of torturing himself, and deep down, he knows he needs to stop.
He deadpans for a moment, and you see his willpower shatter. He was doomed to this, no matter how hard he tried.
"Fine. But so help me, if we do anything -"
"Ew, no. I'm not going to do anything you're not comfortable with," you paused. "Well, except get you on board with this. Besides, it's just a prank. It's not gonna hurt anyone, right?"
"Right."
Well, so you thought, anyway.
------------------------------------
A few weeks later...
"WHAT???"
Tony's shocked, confused scream echoed through the entirety of the Avengers' HQ.
You weren't amused. "Did you have to scream about it like a toddler, or was that just to emphasize the fact you're as obtuse as a 180-degree angle?"
"But..." He looked at you, at his hands, at the wall, then back at you. "How? And... Him???"
"Love, and yes, him." Or an intense desire to tick Tony off, and because he's your best friend, you thought.
Tony sighed. "'Kay. Whatever. But you know I hate seeing you with people."
"Yeah, I know. That's why I do it." You shrugged. "Anyway, I have some recruits to initiate. Adiós, Tony." You sauntered off to go to the training room. Some noobs were getting their lunches regurgitated today.
A few moments passed, and you checked your phone. You tapped away, answering a text from Director Fury when you plowed into a wall.
"Easy, doll. I may be a wall, but that doesn't mean you have to try to break your nose on me."
You looked up at your "boyfriend," and tilted your head at him. "That made no sense." (Nose sense? Eh? Eh? ... I'll shut up now.)
"I know."
You snickered a little.
"So, Tony figured out the joke? I mean, I could hear his scream from the barracks on the other side of the campus."
"Yep. 'Bout time. Man's slower than molasses in January." You put your phone back in your pocket. "I'm initiating the new recruits today. Gonna put them in the simulator that Strange rigged up with his magic. Care to join me?"
Bucky scoffed a little. "Uh, heck yes."
------------------------
Well...
The simulator flopped.
You texted Strange later that afternoon about his trashy machine. In the end, you ended up taking all of the recruits to the amusement park and putting them all on the spinning tornado of death, telling the operator to crank it to its highest speed. The ones that didn't throw up made it into further training. The ones that did would have to go to Information to get their office requirements.
After all that, you were exhausted, done, and ready to relax. You immediately headed for Bucky's dorm, knowing he'd always be willing to do something to help you calm down.
You didn't even bother with knocking. He'd forgive you later. You launched yourself onto his bed, making him rapidly move his legs so they weren't crushed under you. (That garbage hurts, dude. Not kidding.)
Bucky kinda gave you a confused, concerned glance. He was there for the faulty magic simulator part, but he left soon after to check in with Steve. What had you randomly throwing yourself on his bed?
Although he had to admit, he should be used to this by now.
"What's wrong, doll? Something bad happen after the simulator?"
You mumbled something into the mattress.
Bucky deadpanned. "I'd feel more appreciated if you'd tell me your problems. The mattress can't really do anything about them."
You shot him a side-eye stare and turned your head so he could understand you. "Nothing, Buck. I'm just tired."
He was silent for a moment, then he looked at the bed and said, "Well, buddy, I think I'll let you take it from here."
"Bucky!" you laugh, grabbing a nearby pillow and throwing it at him.
He caught it with ease and hauled himself off the bed. "So, movie night, I guess?"
"Sure."
"Okay... How about this one?" he asked, holding up a copy of Miss Congeniality from one of your previous movie nights.
You lifted a brow in confusion. "But you hate chick flicks."
Bucky shrugged. "This isn't a chick flick, though. It's an action-comedy, so it's fine."
"It's a chick flick. It tells a chick flick story, the characters are chick flick stereotypes, and they make tons of chick flick jokes."
"Okay, fine, it's a chick flick. But it's the only one I tolerate because you like it so much."
"Admit it, Buck, it's just a good movie."
"Never." He put the disc into the DVD player and turned on the TV.
You had curled up in the corner of the bed, and he climbed on next to you. It wasn't long after the movie started that you cuddled up to him. Believe it or not, he was kinda snuggly, like a teddy bear.
Bucky felt his heart pounding in his chest. These feelings wouldn't stop plaguing him night and day. The only thing that was ever on his mind was you. It was like a disease, an intrusive thought that wouldn't let him be. It was overwhelming but pleasurable, and it slammed him like a freight train every time his mind drifted to you.
Your quiet snores barely made a sound over the TV. You were so peaceful-looking, like a gentle scene he'd be afraid to touch for fear of disturbing something. He brushed a stray hair out of your face and planted a soft kiss on your brow. The entire motion gave him a buzz, from his lips to his toes.
It was how he wanted it to be. Just you and him, together.
But...
He scoffed to himself.
It's just a prank, right?
