Peter Parker wasn't okay.
He hadn't been since he turned to dust, since he crumbled in Mr. Stark's arms and faded away.
He came back, somehow, along with the rest of them. He started reforming in the common rooms in the compound, and the first thing he'd seen was the face of Mr. Stark as he watched him reform in awe.
Infinity war had been 3 months ago. He had grown closer to Mr. Stark and the other Avengers, but they didn't know about his panic attacks.
Every week, maybe two or three times he'd break, his walls would crumble and fall, and he couldn't move. Only once had it happened at school, every other time he'd been fortunate enough to have them happen when he was at home.
But today wasn't his day, they had obstacle courses set up in gym, and despite it being easy for the web-slinging hero, he was reminded of the fight on Titan.
At first it was small things, his legs felt weak on the balance beam, his breath caught while climbing the rope, his heart clenched while sprinting the running portion.
But then, the jump at the end of the race came. Peter couldn't breath. It wasn't far at all, maybe 4 feet at most, but all he could think about was the space ship lifting him away from his home.
He hands and legs shook and he couldn't breath. He heard people yelling at him to hurry up, but he was beyond the gym class now, he was in the sky about to suffocate.
He fell to his knees as his eyes clenched tight. His hands covered his ears, but it did little to block out his hearing. His breaths interrupted each other, inhale, exha- inhale, inhale, ex- inhale, exhale, exhale, inha- exhale.
He chocked and felt the gauntlet wrap around his neck. His hands moved to push it off only to scrape his skin.
He fell from his knees to his side, curling into a ball and shaking. It was all too much. He couldn't stop the memories from surfacing, he couldn't even hear his peers anymore. The only thing he heard was Thanos and all the others that died.
He rolled over slightly, only to fall off the short jump that signifies the end of the race. He screamed as he fell, his hands reaching out to catch at a space ship that wasn't there.
He landed hard on the mats, knocking his already uneven breath out of his lungs. He gasped and his eyes flew open, but it just disoriented him more as his memories mixed with his school.
He saw Ned above him looking extremely scared and worried. He reached out a hand and only gripped at empty air.
"Ned..."
He gasped out, his words sounding fuzzy in his ears.
"Peter! What's happening? Who should I call?!"
The words just barely breached his mind, they were so faded and quiet Peter took several seconds to process the words before responding.
"Call dad, please, Ned! Ned, I'm falling again! He's- He's going to kill us!"
Peter choked and struggled to breath, his eyes glazed over and his breaths became more uneven as his eyes chased the stars that flew by the ships window.
His class had realized this wasn't a laughing matter. Everyone was silent and confused, who would kill them? What was he falling from?
Ned had bolted into the locker room and grabbed Peter's phone, he opened it and scrolled through the contacts. He found 'dad' and clicked it, he put it on speaker as he shook Peter.
"Hey kiddo, aren't you supposed to be in school?"
"Mr. Stark!"
Ned gasped, completely unaware that his best friend referred to the superhero as 'dad'.
"Ned? Why are you calling me?"
"It's Peter! He's freaking out! He fell off something and I think it reminded him of the Infinity War!"
Ned didn't even bother to try and be secretive, he was too panicked to really think about how the kids and teacher would react to anything.
"Crap, 3 minutes, don't let him stop breathing."
And with that final note, the billionaire hung up.
Peter gasped again, his back arching off the ground as he shook harder. Ned grabbed his shoulders and yelled his name, but he didn't respond. The teacher was long gone to get the nurse, and the rest of the class stood in muted horror.
"Ned! He- he killed her! He killed Gamora, He killed them!"
Peter screeched as he shoved Ned off him, pushing his back against the wall.
"Peter! You're safe, you're at school! That was 3 months ago! Calm down!"
Peter didn't clam down, his throat closed and he couldn't breath. His head snapped up and he made a choking sound. His hands clawed at his neck and tears sprang into his eyes.
"Shit! Peter breath! In and out!"
Ned took an exaggerated breath in, and Peter followed shakily.
"Ned, I'm- I'm falling apart! I'm dying on an alien planet! I won't see May again! Ned!"
Peter cried out and fell as an imaginary force slammed into him. Tears were running down his face in massive waves and he couldn't do anything.
Suddenly, the sound of repulsers was clear, and everyone looked out the windows in the gym. Within seconds Iron man had broken a window and was flying towards Peter. His suit dissolving back into his chest as he went.
"Peter! Hey, kid you're okay. We're back on earth, there are no bad guys anymore, everyone's back!"
"Dad," Peter chokes out, "he's gonna kill us! You have to believe me, I-I can see it, we're on Titan and the bug lady's gone!"
"No, no we got out. You're safe. Look around, we're in your school, in the gym. There is no reason to panic."
"I was falling! From the ship!"
"No Peter, the ships gone. We're all safe. We saved the day, remember?"
The glaze that covered Peter's eyes slowly went away as he blinked, but the tears still flowed.
"It felt so real."
He sobbed, his hands going around the billionaire.
"I know kid, I know."
The superhero duo managed to shakily walk out the door, and get to the car FRIDAY had driven to the school. After securing Peter, Tony hopped in, speeding away from Midtown. His suit not far behind.
