Peter Parker ~ Oops?
A/N: this takes place years in the future, Peter is 21.
Endgame & infinity war didn't happen.
Well, they did happen but with different endings.
............
It was a normal day at the compound, at least as normal as it could be when everyone was either superpowers or just really intelligent. That or war veterans, sorta.
Looking at you Sam and Rhodey.
Looking at you.
Honestly, no one knew why was going to happen. They were all chilling, eating lunch when Tony got a call from Peter.
He answered it without hesitation.
"What's up kid?"
There was shuffling from Peter's side, Peter obviously trying to hold something. "Mr. Stark, I don't know what to do." His voice was shaky and it was worrying.
"What's wrong kid?" Now Tony sounded worried.
Peter took a few breath, "Are you at the compound?"
"Where are you kid? I'll send happy to get you."
"I'm at the hospital. The one by the tower."
"You okay?"
"Yeah! Yeah, just... it's better to explain there."
"Alright kid, I'm sending happy, he'll be there soon."
"Thank you Mr. Stark." Peter hung up and Tony shot a quick text to happy, who was on his way to pick the kid up.
"Is everything alright?" Steve questioned.
Tony sighed, shrugging, "i don't know. Peter called and he was really... he asked for help. He should be here soon."
"Damn, hope the kids okay," Clint muttered.
Of course, talk had slowed, the group waiting for Peter to arrive. Like Tony said, it didn't take long.
Soon enough, a car pulled up out front, but the Avengers waited inside. Happy got out, his face stone cold, opening the door for Peter. When Peter came out, he was holding something to his shoulder. It wasn't quite visible, but it existed.
When he walked in, eyes were on him.
Peter had grown quite a bit since they first met. He was taller, about six foot something, 6'1? And he had filled out nicely. He was no longer this awkward, nerdy kid. He was still nerdy, but he looked much more confident, sure of himself, handsome instead of cute.
Right then? He look scared shitless.
He walked in and towards the Avengers, rubbing circles into the back of whatever he was holding.
When he got to the Avengers, it was obvious that it wasn't some random thing he was holding, but a child. It looked no older than a year old, maybe six months at the youngest, and there was hints of small brown tufts of hIr sticking out from under the knit hat it was wearing.
"Hi?" Peter got out awkwardly.
"Kid, what... who's the child?" Tony asked.
Peter bit his lip, trying to find some lie or excuse, but then just sighed, giving up. "This is Ben. Ben Richard Parker. Uh... He's my son."
Took a couple of seconds for them to take in that info. "You have a son?" Tony said, disbelief in his eyes.
"I didn't know I had one until this morning. A girl I used to date, Felicia Hardy or as most people know her, black cat, broke up with me a little over a year ago and ghosted. She called me last week, talking about something big happening. Then, last night, the hospital called saying that she died, and I was the legal guardian of Ben. So, that's where we are now."
"Oh god, kid." Tony placed a hand on Peter's shoulder, and Peter shrugged it off. "I-I'm fine. I just... I don't know what to do. I wish I'd known, I would've been able to help her."
"You're still in college, she probably didn't want to burden you."
"What do I do?" Peter asked softly, looking at the kid in his arms, fast asleep, content in Peter's arms.
Tony thought for a moment, "besides us, who else knows?"
That made Peter think, "no one. I don't really know how to anyone else. Like how do i tell my boyfriend I have a kid?" Peter said softly.
"Hey," Tony said, "if he loves you, he'll understand."
"Yeah, I'm still terrified." Before anything me could say anything else, the baby in Peter's arms woke up and stared crying. Peter started bouncing the baby, whispering silly things, rubbing his son's back gently. The baby almost immediately calmed down, babbling nonsense. Peter put the pacifier around Ben's neck in the baby's mouth, hugging the baby close.
It was...
Sweet.
Endearing actually. Peter was just good with kids, and he obviously cared for his son, despite only knowing him for a day.
"You'll do fine kid. We'll help out if you need it."
"Thanks Mr.Stark."
"I already told you not to call me that."
Peter smiles awkwardly, "it's just weird to call you dad when... I'm a dad now too."
Tony then realized, "shit, I'm a grandfather."
"Language!" Steve exclaimed.
Everyone laughed at that.
"Anyways, who's the boyfriend?" Natasha asked.
Peter hummed, "my childhood friend. Harry Osborn."
"Osborn..." rhodey repeated. "Not only are you dating the current CEO of Oscorp, you're the heir to Stark Industries."
Peter never thought about that, "neither of us really care about status or anything. It does make me a bit more worried about mentioning Ben."
"How long have you been together?" Wanda asked.
"A year," Peter informed. "We got together about three months after Felicia left me."
"If it's been about a year, then he should be fine with this," Steve added.
Peter nodded, eyes turning to Ben who was tugging Peter's clothing, drooling everywhere. Peter smiles at little Ben and kissed the top of his head, the baby giggling in response.
He was really good with kids. He shouldn't have been so worried, he'd do fine.
"Do you have anything soft for him to eat, like bananas?"
"We do, you want me to order some baby food?" Tony asked.
Peter nodded, "I need to clear out Felicia's place today as well, so you mind watching him for a. Few hours?"
"Of course kid."
When Peter looked around Felicia's place, he felt... fucking awful. Everywhere he looked, he saw them together. Pictures from patrols, from dates, pinned notes they left each other.
She loved him, enough to name their kid after the people Peter lost.
If she loved him this much though... why'd she leave?
Peter sighed and started moving boxes, carefully putting pictures and books away, clearing every inch of the house.
In two hours, he packed away almost everything. Then he got to the nursery.
It was tragically beautiful. The walls and ceiling were hand painted, mimicking the city skyline and the lights that flickered in the sky. On the wall though, was also black cat and Spider-Man.
Peter just broke down crying, clinging to the crib for support. He still loved her.
They had three years together, Peter planned to propose to her... but she was gone.
He was happy with Harry, but that didn't mean Felicia dying didn't hurt him. He fumbled to get an his phone out of his pocket before dialing a number of someone who understood.
There was two rings before he picked up.
"Peter? What's up? Haven't-"
"Felicia's dead."
He heard something clutter on Harry's end, "shit, Peter, are you okay?"
"I'm cleaning out her place and Harry... it hurts."
"Hey, send me the details, I'll be right over."
"Alright."
Peter hung up and texted Harry where he was, sitting against the wall, trying to wipe away the water that burned his eyes, pooling on his cheeks.
This was too much. He didn't want to break down in front of Ben, or the Avengers, but he couldn't help it when he was alone. Being alone was the hardest thing he could do.
Felicia and Harry had been pretty grounding for him. If he didn't have them...
Peter did really stupid things without them.
Take the three months before he and Harry got together, he basically fell into bed with anyone. It really wasn't a good time for him.
Then Harry came and became his ground. He was just always there.
He needed his ground.
He heard footsteps after not too long, "Peter?"
"Last door on the left."
Harry came in seconds after, and took in the scene. Then it struck him, "oh god Peter." He rushed over to Peter and pulled his boyfriend into a hug.
Peter just help Harry close for a few minutes, fingers digging into the clothes. They stayed there until Peter calmed.
"She left me because she was pregnant Harry."
"Peter..."
"I have a s-son," he choked out.
Harry lifted up Peter's face, smiling at him, "and we'll be the best god damn parents to him."
Peter softened at that, "you'll raise him with me?"
"Of course, you're everything to me, and now this kid will be everything too."
"You're amazing Harry."
"Aren't I always."
"I'm back! Where's Ben?" Peter asked.
Tony hummed out, "The girls got to him. They're all gushing over him."
"Oh, I'll grab him. Harry, wait here."
Harry?
The avengers turned to someone who apparently came with Peter.
He was this curly haired, almost ginger looking fuck who just stood there with hands clasped behind his back.
"Hello?" He said, noticing the stares.
"You're Peter's boyfriend?" Tony asked.
Harry nodded, "I am. Before you asked why I'm here, Peter called me while cleaning out Felicia's place. Needed to moral support."
The was a pregnant pause is the air, awkward and full of questions that were teeming in each breath. But everyone kept quiet.
"Harry, this is Ben," Peter had come back, carrying the kid, smiling brightly, the worry from earlier pretty much gone. He came up to Harry holding his son who looked up at Harry with high, bright eyes, warm eyes.
Harry melted at the sight, smiling at the sight of the child. Ben giggles as Harry took Ben from Peter.
"Did you get baby food dad?" Peter asked
"Yup, I'm the kitchen. You have a crib already?"
"Felicia had one at her house, so we just moved it to our place," Peter informed.
Harry then seemed to realize something... "Pete, not to alarm you, but not only do you have superpowers, she had superpowers. You think Ben is going to get either."
Peter just stared at Harry for a second, the. Nodded, "probably. Let's hope he doesn't get bad luck too." Peter left the room to get the baby food.
"She had superpowers?" Natasha questioned.
"She was able to manipulate probability fields. She also had a lot of actual cat like abilities like night vision, retractable talons at her fingertips, superhuman speed and strength, basically everything is proportional to a cat like Pete is proportionate to a spider."
"If the kid gets both, he'd be spider-cat."
"Oh god, that sounds like a nightmare," Harry said with a grimace. "We'll see I guess."
"Let's go Harry."
Peter came back and dragged Harry right on out.
A year later, an invitation to a wedding appeared.
Three years later, Peter called about the kids being a hazard to raise because he scratched them if they tried to get him off the ceiling.
Sixteen years later, Spider-Cat joined Spider-Man for patrols.
But that was not history they were aware of.
They had time.
..............
A/N: I like a lot of the comic characters, they just don't get any love.
I know Mj and Peter is pretty much Endgame, but I love all of the Spide ships.
Sue me.
And Peter with a child is precious.
