Peter Parker ~ Home Sick
A/N: another field trip story, but Peter is home sick.
Also, I'm giving random ass names to people just because I need interns for the sorry.
...........
So, Peter was...
Well...
A little over a week ago, his teacher, Mr. Harrington, had announced a field trip to Stark Tower.
Everyone was excited.
Well, Peter wasn't, but he didn't particularly mind. Sure, he knew the Avengers and everyone working there would try to embarrass him, but at least Flash would have to wipe that stupid cocky attitude off.
So he'd gotten his slip signed by Pepper and turned it in, ready for the field trip.
The day before though, Peter had caught a pretty nasty cold and had to stay home.
He felt better the next day, but his temperature was still a bit high, so his dad made him stay home.
His dad by the way, was Tony Stark. Biologically?
Yes actually.
Neither of them knew for the longest time until May was on her death bed after the whole "civil war" thing. She said Mary had given her a letter with Peter's real father in it.
That was scary in itself because Peter never Knew that Richard wasn't his real father, no one knew besides Richard, Ben, Mary and May.
When Tony had opened it for the kid's sake, he was shocked to find his own name in there. He half thought it was a cruel joke.
Then he ran a DNA test.
It was a match.
so, that was how Tony took Peter in. He was already planning to, but now as an actual father and son. No one else knew they were biologically related besides Pepper. To everyone else, Tony just took in the kid.
Anyways, he was allowed to go wherever, especially since it was his home and Tony knew well enough that Peter hated laying in bed all day. He just was supposed to take it easy and not go on patrol.
Peter could do that.
He actually woke up really early that morning, and it was probably his internal clock or something. He woke up around seven a.m. and so, he deducted to get dressed after his dad had told him he was staying home.
When he was dressed, he went to get breakfast. Pepper was already awake and perky, while Tony was pretty much still asleep. How he had managed to call the school in that state was beyond him.
Peter got to the counter and Pepper slid a plate in front of him. It was double what was on her and Tony's plates. Granted, that was mostly because Peter had an extremely fast metabolism because of the spider bite and needed a lot of calories to function properly.
He basically inhaled over a couple pounds of Eggs, bacon and toast like Kirby, downing his orange juice.
"I'm glad you feel a lot better sweetie," pepper said softly, smiling at him.
Peter grinned back, "I'm definitely better mom! dad just thinks it's safer for me to stay home for another day."
"Your temperature is still too high. You may feel fine, but we don't need you passing out on us."
Peter seemed to understand, nodding. "Is anyone else in the tower today?"
Pepper thought for a moment, "I believe all of them are here today, besides Scott and Hope."
"Damn, opportunity missed to see another bad ass women."
She laughed at that, "just don't overwhelm yourself honey. I need to go, meetings and such, but I'll be back a little after lunch. We can eat together if you want."
"That would be awesome. Could the others join?"
She melted at his enthusiasm, "sure, if they want to."
"Of course they'd want too," Tony scoffed, "they'd all die for Peter."
Pepper nodded, moving over to Peter and ruffling his hair. The boy let out a whine, but both Pepper and Tony knew that he loved being spoiled. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to his messy curls, pressing a kiss to Tony's cheek as well. Then she was off.
"So what are you doing today dad?"
Tony hummed, "I have to go out for a couple hours myself. I'm picking up Harley for spring break."
"Sweet," Peter said happily, "he's staying for the entire thing?"
"He is. I invited his sister as well, but she wasn't interested."
"Her loss."
"I should probably leave now so I can get back before Lunch. Bye Bambino, I'll be back soon with your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend."
"Suuure." Tony chuckled and ruffled Peter's hair as he hot up, copying Pepper's prior affection, kissing his curls. "See you soon."
"Love you."
"I love you too."
And Peter was alone. Well, not alone. After all, the other avengers were there.
"Friday, where are the other Avengers?"
Friday's voice was very calm.
"Hawkeye and Natasha have just entered the training room. Thor and Captain were already in the training room. Dr. Banner is in his lab. Wanda and Vision are relaxing in the avengers lounge. Bucky is still asleep. Sam and Rhodey are on the elevator to the lounge."
"Thank you Friday."
"Always a pleasure Boss jr."
"Ask Uncle Banner if it's okay for me to visit."
There was only a minute of waiting.
"He says he'd be delighted to have you."
Peter hopped to his feet, pulling out his security pass and using it to go to Bruce's lab. It was a short trip. The lab was only ten floors below the penthouse after all.
When Peter got there, he announced his arrival and joined Bruce in his lab.
"Hey uncle Bruce, whatcha working on?"
Bruce looked up from his project to shoot a smile at Peter, "Hey Peter. I'm mostly just going over some blood samples. Specifically the super powered Avenger's blood as well as some super villains."
"My blood in there?" Peter asked.
"Not yet."
Peter hummed, "you can take some now."
"You're still sick, it could contaminate the results."
"Fair," Peter said, laughing. "What are you checking for?"
"I'm trying to see if there is a specific gene that is altered to give heroes their powers. Buck, Steve, You and I weren't born with powers, so I'm seeing if there is an easily manipulated gene."
"That's actually pretty interesting. I know my bite mutated my genes, but never put much thought into it."
Bruce nodded and pushed away from his desk, "I'm taking a break for now since nothing is really matching. I need some food."
"We can grab something from the food court, then go bug the others."
Bruce smirked at that, "sounds like fun." He ruffled Peter's hair and the two of them headed out.
Bruce had gotten a bagel and some coffee before they decided to go to the training room.
All was fine and dandy, Bruce and Peter talking about their theories for the gene mutation when the elevator doors opened.
Then Peter was met face to face with his class.
Fuck.
The group hadn't noticed them yet, but the Avenger's did.
Clint was the one to call out for them, looking up from the group, "Pete, glad you're feeling better. Want to help teach the tour how to fight?"
Then all eyes were on him. The recognition donned on them and Peter tried to retreat, but Bruce dragged him out of the Elevator.
"Peter Parker?" A student muttered.
"What are you doing at the Tower Mr. Parker? We were informed you were home sick." Mr. Harrington said loudly. And then the Avengers in the room were suddenly aware of what was going on.
Thor was bombastic, "well, he is sick, and he is home, so he is indeed 'home sick' like you say."
Peter groaned internally now that the attention was all on him. Of course this sort of thing had to happen to him. He'd say it was Parker luck, but realistically these types of things were Stark luck.
Not a drop of Parker in him.
But they didn't know that and they didn't need to.
"You're trying say he lives here?" Betty asked.
"He's lived here for over a year."
Thanks Clint. Thanks.
"I should've stayed in bed," Peter grimaced.
Natasha smiles calmly, "well, you seem well enough either way, would you like to spar?"
Peter shrugged. "конечно." (of course)
"Then let's fight человек-паук." (Spider-Man)
Peter walked over and those in the room stood back, forcing the tour group to stick close to the walls. Steve, Thor and Clint were watching them intently.
Peter got into stance, arms up, but close to his chest and stomach and not face. Natasha got into stance as well, eyeing the other before pouncing.
It was almost hard to watch, they were both moving at incredible speeds. Peter was surprisingly good at fighting, evident by the way he avoided her kicks and punches. Peter was just as agile, getting a few hits on her. In the end though, they called a stalemate, neither able to take the other down.
"You're slow today паук."
"Still sick, remember?" Peter hummed.
She nodded before ruffling his hair. The fourth adult in the series of an hour to do so.
His curly hair was fun to ruffle.
"Still sick. Surprised Tony and Pepper aren't babying you."
"Pep has meetings and Mr. Stark went to grab Harley."
"So they'll be back soon?"
"They said they would."
"Wait, hold up, why does Penis live here?"
Peter knew that the Avengers present turned to glare at Flash, and Peter put his head in his hands. "Mr. Stark and Ms Potts are my legal guardians. That's why."
"He mentioned it before after he missed a week of school." Mj pointed out. "His Aunt and Ms. Potts were quite good friends and she decided that if anything were to happen to her, they'd be his guardians."
Peter nodded, glad that no one knew he was actually related to Tony.
The tour guide, another Intern named Heather looked a tad uncomfortable.
"Anyways, we were going to move on."
"Why don't you show them Peter's lab?" Bruce suggested, "I need to grab something from there anyways."
"A blood sample."
Bruce nodded, "Alright, I'm down."
"Dr. Banner, I don't have access to that floor?"
"I do," Peter reminded, showing his badge. A gold badge. Level 10. Only three people had it.
"Oh, well, lead the way then."
Before Peter Left, Steve asked a question, "you eating lunch with everyone?"
"Yeah. Though probably not in the food court, just tell Friday to buzz you in."
The avengers in the room nodded and the tour group, along with Peter and Bruce, got in the elevator.
"Friday, take us up to my lab."
"Will do Mini boss."
"Mini boss?" Ned snorted out.
"Mr. Stark won't let me change it."
His friend just laughed again as the doors opened to Peter's lab. Granted, it was right above Bruce's lab. Tony, Peter and Bruce all had a personal floor for their labs and assistants, then a shared lab. The shared lab held a lot of shit.
Peter saw that none of the interns were there that day, probably because he was sick, which meant they were assisting other labs. Except Bruce's. Bruce only worked with Peter and Tony.
Peter's lab was pretty normal looking at first, a couple desks were immediately present, some scattered papers and such as well as a few projects that were being worked on.
"Karen?"
"Welcome back Peter."
A door opened and Peter walked ahead with Bruce, the tour group following closely behind. It was once they were past the door that Peter's lab became truly impressive.
It was straight up sci-do fantasy. By the door we're literal robot replicas of BB-8, R2-D2 and C3PO. Functional. On the wall looked like lightsaber bases. Since their were names labeled on them, it was safe to assume that he wasn't the only one who used them.
The lab had a high ceilings, and looking up there was a mini balcony connected to what looked like another lab.
There were mannequins littered throughout the room, sporting a suit or weapons. Spider-Man's suit seemed to be the most common, many different variations of it. Web shooters were littered everywhere, each disassembled, spare the ones on the suit. There was a hovering bike in the corner, on a launch pan, meaning the window it was beside most likely came apart to escape.
There were holographic boards and displays everywhere, as well as seemingly dangerous weapons and tech that no one but him would or should be able to touch.
Bruce walked to a wall, grabbing a red vial.
"This it?"
"Yup," Peter assured, "I actually have the lizards blood as well if you wanted to study it. Got a sample of it when I worked with him."
"Thanks." He grabbed the vial Peter pointed out. "I'm going to finish up for now, but I'll see you at lunch."
"See you later then." Bruce left pretty quickly, Peter turning to his classmates.
"Feel free to look around, don't touch anything," Peter said.
Ned went immediately over to Peter, and they talked about the lab for a bit. Everyone was just looking around, marveling the many things that littered the lab. Mj was sat in a corner, sketching her classmates faces.
"Are these functional lightsabers?" Cindy asked curiously.
Peter nodded, "they are. They're also highly dangerous weapons, so they won't activate unless the person that's named on it tries to use it."
"Oh." She looked and saw a few avengers as well as Ned. Shouldn't have been surprising since Peter and Ned were best friends. There were some weird names on there though.
"Miles M."
"Harry O."
"Harley K."
"Johnny S."
All names that seemed strange to think about.
Heather decided it was time to move on, "we need to continue the tour."
"Oh, right. Sorry about that," Peter apologized.
"Why don't you join the tour? You were supposed to originally in the first place." She suggested it before Peter could even think of saying it.
He shrugged, "I don't mind, I'll just have to split for lunch."
"Oh that's perfectly fine. We're going down to the intern labs for a bit actually."
"Oh, I wonder if mine are down there, I want to say hi."
Flash was taken aback, "you have interns?"
Heather rolled her eyes, "of course he has interns. He's the brightest scientist we have here. His work towards the company have been amazing."
"Can we just...." Peter started, "move on?"
"Right!" They all got into the elevator and rode to the intern labs. They were all monitored of course, but higher ups, mostly Tony, wanted to give interns to develop projects of their own, hence the reason the lab existed. When they entered the labs, eyes turned to them.
"Morning Peter!" A large portion of them chorused. Peter awkwardly waved and noticed his team, separating from the group to say high.
"What are you guys working on today?" He asked the four of them.
The two girls, twins, identical in every way, besides there mismatched eyes, hummed in frustration. Lila had her dark hair tied up in a high ponytail, goggles covering her silver/green eyes. Jill's hair was still down, brushed behind her ears, thick glasses covering her green/silver eyes.
"Well we were working on DNA tests, but someone lost a few tests subjects." Lila informed, her sister shooting the glare for her at the two boys across from them.
Mostly at Kyle. Kyle was the most disaster ginger Peter could've ever run across. Disaster.
The last one, Jacob, just smiled awkwardly at the group, ruffling his black, frizzy hair. "He didn't mean to drop the samples. We can just get new ones."
"Shut it!"
Peter just laughed, "guys, what samples did you lose?"
Lila huffed, "we found something interesting not too long ago," she pulled up a holographic screen, showing Spider-Man (which attracted eyes), and then Tony. It was a DNA test. "Apparently Spider-Man is Tony's biological son. We were testing some samples to see if we could figure it out. From what the DNA gave us, they share the same blood type."
Peter was shocked. Obviously. He was Tony's bio son, so of course if his Spider DNA was compared to Tony's, there would be some semblance of a match.
"We only have one sample left to try, and it's obviously going to be a dud..." Jill groaned out.
Peter's brows furrowed together, "why's that?"
"It's your DNA sir. We know that he adopted you, but I think we'd know if you were his son." Jacob informed.
"Here, we'll show you."
It happened all at once.
The avengers game to pick up Peter, the class was watching, Tony, Harley and Pepper were with the Avengers as the sample was put in.
An AI voice designed by the interns read out. "Match, 100%. Peter Parker."
Everything was still. No one could even breath.
About 100 people were stuck staring at the screen.
Peter Parker had a 100% dna match with Spider-Man.
That meant he was Spider-Man.
And if Spider-Man was Tony Stark's Biological son...
Things just fell a bit more into place.
"Peter?" Lila croaked.
Peter himself was a bit frantic looking.
"Tony, did you know he was your-"
Tony interrupted Steve, "Yes." It was a dry response.
"Did he know?" Clint pressed.
"Yes." That response came from Peter, who was a deer caught in headlights.
"Penis Parker is actually-"
One of Flash's 'friends' slapped a hand over Flash's mouth, afraid for him. The Avengers had shown overly protective traits so far. Best not piss them off.
"Since when- oh my god!" Jacob exclaimed.
"It makes so much sense now!" Lila added. "There's no way that second lab could be reached unless you were able to climb the walls!"
Peter winced a bit, looking back towards his dad who looked as equally lost what to do.
Pepper...
Pepper knew what to do.
"If a single word of what happened here tonight gets out, we will take it down and blacklist you from any future jobs. This is confidential."
Heads nodded slowly at that.
Pepper smiled, "good. Peter, honey, you coming for lunch?"
"Yes mom," Peter sighed awkwardly, walked past his class and into the elevator, face red as a beet.
The avengers were, rightfully curious as soon as the doors closed.
"How long have you known?" Steve asked.
"For as long as he's stayed here."
Peter nodded, "we did a DNA test after my aunt basically told him he was my dad."
"That's..." Rhodey was at a loss for words, "wow."
Things were only going to get more complicated, weren't they?
Harley slung an arm over Peter's shoulders, "after lunch you want to fuck around with those lightsabers?"
"Language!" Steve exclaimed.
Harley stuck his tongue out at him.
"That sounds nice," Peter said with a sigh.
Yup, things were definitely going to change.
