New Asgard

The war between the heroes of universe-199999 and universe-838 still raged on over the battlefield that was once New Asgard. The war was steadily slowing down as the heroes of universe-838 began to shift the tides of the battle.

Carol (Captain Marvel) and Jean Grey engaged in a fierce aerial battle. The blows they exchanged were massive, and Carol started to feel the toll of the fight as she began to bleed. Despite her exhaustion, Jean kept going and eventually managed to pin her down. America Chavez attempted to intervene, but Jean stopped her with her telekinetic abilities, sending her flying through multiple buildings.

In another part of the city, a battle raged between the two versions of the Hulk. The Hulk from 838, known for his ability to grow stronger and larger the angrier he gets, had the upper hand due to his massive size advantage. His blows sent shockwaves that dominated our Hulk, causing him to fall to the ground. The 838 Hulk effortlessly picked him up with his foot and swung him into the air before jumping up to knock him back down, leaving a small crater in his wake.

Meanwhile, Sentry proved to be an unstoppable force as he took down Photon, Shang-Chi, and She-Hulk with ease. He caught She-Hulk's fist in his hand and threw her into Shang-Chi, and even with Photon's cosmic energy blasts, he remained unfazed. As he slowly walked towards her, Sentry punched her in the stomach, sending her flying into the air. Shang-Chi attempted to use his rings against Sentry, but Sentry caught them with one hand and swung him around, hitting nearby allies Hawkeye, Kate, and Bucky. She-Hulk tried to attack him with a giant rock, but Sentry caught it and hurled it back at her with such force that she nearly lost consciousness. It wasn't until The Thing intervened with a powerful punch from the side that Sentry was momentarily taken down.

The Thing: Why don't ya pick on someone your own size!

Sentry: Very well.

Sentry's super speed allowed him to strike The Thing multiple times all over his body, causing him to fall to one knee. Seizing the opportunity, Sentry grabbed The Thing by the throat and hurled him to the ground with such force that the surface cracked upon impact.

In another part of the battlefield, Doctor Doom held Magneto in a chokehold, and despite Magneto's best efforts, he could not break free. Doctor Strange intervened by using his magical powers to teleport Magneto to safety, just a few feet away. As Doom gloated over his victory, Strange grabbed his arm with one hand and delivered a powerful punch that knocked Doom's astral form out of his physical form. However, Doom's powerful magic allowed him to instantly return to his body, finding amusement in Strange's failed attempt to defeat him.

Dr Doom: I am the most powerful magic user in my universe. I possess the power of cosmic. I have a genius intellect. I have indestructible skin. There is nothing you can do to stop me! What don't you understand?

In the heat of the battle, the two Spider-Men (Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire) were locked in a brutal struggle. They countered each other's moves with pinpoint accuracy, throwing punches and kicks with deadly precision. Meanwhile, Daredevil was fiercely battling his own doppelganger, but their efforts were for naught when 838 Hulk emerged and joined the fray. With his massive size and strength, Spider-Man and Daredevil found themselves struggling to avoid his crushing blows. Even Spider-Man's attempt to strike the Hulk with a swift kick was easily thwarted, sending him crashing to the ground.

As he struggled to get back up, Spider-Man held his hands up in surrender, hoping to avoid any further harm. But 838 Hulk was not done yet. He lunged forward, delivering a devastating kick to Spider-Man's chest that sent him tumbling backwards.

Captain America (Sam) and Daredevil were similarly overpowered, helpless against the hulking behemoth. Thor, however, was faring better. With his godly strength and lightning powers, he managed to overcome 838 Thor with ease, shattering his opponent's hammer in the process. But Thor's victory was short-lived when he saw Sentry and 838 Hulk wreaking havoc across the battlefield.

Summoning all his strength, Thor flew high into the sky, calling down a massive lightning bolt to get the attention of the two powerful foes.

Thor: This ends here and now!

As they turned to face him, Thor descended with a thunderous crash, hammer in hand. But 838 Hulk was not intimidated, clapping his hands together with such force that Thor was sent flying, disoriented for a moment. Sentry then darted forward with lightning speed, pummeling Thor from left to right with a flurry of punches. The 838 Hulk quickly joined in, playing a deadly game of ping-pong as they batted Thor back and forth between them.

Meanwhile, Wolverine had his sights set on our Hulk, determined to take him down with his razor-sharp claws. Unleashing his animalistic fury, Wolverine charged forward, slicing and dicing the Hulk with expert precision. But the Hulk was not one to be trifled with, and he bellowed in rage before unleashing a devastating shockwave that knocked Wolverine off his feet.

As Wolverine struggled to recover, Mr. Fantastic joined the fray, stretching his elastic arms to grab Wolverine and spin him around like a top before flinging him away with a mighty punch. Ms. Marvel added her own strength to the mix, using her cosmic bangle to create two massive hands that clapped Wolverine like a fly, stunning him for a moment.

Despite their valiant efforts, our heroes found themselves outmatched. It seemed as if all hope was lost until a TVA portal suddenly opened up, revealing Loki, Sylvie, Vision, Shuri, Ant-Man, Okoye, and The Wasp. As they stepped out of the portal, Loki surveyed the destruction around him and immediately sprang into action.

Loki: Everyone stop!

Some of them stopped but others were too preoccupied to care. Loki duplicated himself everywhere and shouted again.

Loki: Everyone... STOP!

Loki removed all his duplicates from the battlefield while the battle finally stopped and everyone looked at Loki and the rest in confusion. The ones who knew Vision, was shocked to see him alive and painted completely white. Loki raised his voice so that everyone could hear him properly.

Loki: There's no time to break this to you slowly but the reason you are fighting is useless. Because we just found out the being that changed all of reality... The being that Kang is after... It is Wanda!

Doctor Strange, Magneto and Clea looked at each other with widened eyes. They knew that something was about to go down. Something they tried to hide from the rest. They were among the only ones who knew. Spider-Man also knew, so all that went through his head was how to somehow save Wanda all by himself from literally every single hero from both universes. His adrenaline spiked. His Spider sense was all over the place. He had no idea what to do.

Thor: So you're saying... The being we discussed to kill earlier, is the very same person which we are now trying to protect from these guys!? (He points at some of the 838 heroes)

She-Hulk broke the fourth wall for a short moment. It was one of her iconic traits.

She-Hulk: Well that's some plot twist if you ask me...

Everyone from our universe looked at each other in shock. They just went through a massive war to protect the one being they planned to kill just a while back in order to ensure the safety of the multiverse. The heroes from universe-838 were confused since they didn't know what was going on. They didn't even know about Kang or some being that changed reality.

Iron Man (838): What is this? What's happening?

Vision: I think I may be able to clarify the situation.

Wolverine: You better make it quick or my claws will come out to play!

Storm: We don't have time for this nonsense! Where is Wanda!

Vision: I was captured by Kang inside the Quantum Realm. He told me his entire plan, that was when I found out that Wanda completely destroyed the previous multiverse. She erased everything in existence and created a new reality where she dictated everyone's lives through a single timeline without any mutants. The original Kang managed to survive. The multiverse was inevitably reborn again and he finally found her.

Loki: We were searching for this being to eliminate her before Kang got his hands on her.

Doctor Doom: For what purpose?

Loki: Our plan was to kill her. Now we know that it was Wanda all along, thanks to Vision.

This was the truth. The being that Kang is after and the same being they agreed to kill earlier in the day, was Wanda all along. Many of our heroes were at a loss for words. They just drained all their energy in arguably the biggest battle of their lives, to protect a being they originally also planned to kill.

They realized that if they kill Wanda, there could be no way of stopping the incursion, but many of them were conflicted since killing her could also ensure the safety of the infinite multiverse, at the cost of two universes. Doctor Strange didn't know what to do anymore. He still stood by his plan, but it seemed like everyone else was now turning against Wanda.

Mr Fantastic: Then we have to eliminate her before Kang gets here.

Ms Marvel: But what about our universe? Strange said she is the only one who can fix it!

Doctor Strange: That's because she is.

Mr Fantastic: Within the grand calculus of the multiverse... Our universe... Is a small price to pay. It is our duty to do the right thing. Protecting her could mean that Kang takes over all of existence. It would put us at fault. By the time she "fixes" it, there wouldn't be much left anyway.

The Thing: You can't be serious Reed. I don't know about you but I don't wanna die today.

Vision: There is another way. Kang has devices which he uses to stop incursions from happening. He uses it to conquer other universes without causing an incursion. If we can manage to take one of those reset charges...

Loki: We will be able to stop this incursion and kill Wanda at the same time.

Iron Man (838): Okay can someone please tell us who this "Kang" is?

Captain America (Sam): Apparently he is a very dangerous tyrant that wants to rule the entire multiverse, thing is, there is an entire war going on in the multiverse between different versions of himself in a race to conquer more universes than the other. (Looks at Loki) Did I miss anything?

The Thing (838): Huh!?

Thor: Okay imagine Thanos... But much more ruthless and on a multiversal scale.

Doctor Doom: Strange, I can see in your eyes that you know something.

Doctor Strange: What are you rambling about?

Doctor Doom: You saw something in that dream. I remember, I was there. Back in the Baxter Building, when we linked you with our Wanda's dreams. You mentioned Kang. You better start telling us what you saw. Right now!

Sylvie: (Talks to Strange) You knew about this and you didn't tell anyone!?

Doctor Strange: Look, it's complicated! You are making a mistake! We don't trade lives. Why don't we just protect her from Kang instead? (He looks at Vision) I thought you of all people would be on my side!

Vision: There is just too much at stake, I'm afraid. You have no idea how much it hurts me to say this. She's the only person I've ever loved, but I won't let my love for her cloud my judgement.

Sylvie walked toward Strange and touched him on his head, she scanned through his memories with her telepathic abilities and witnessed the first dream he had. She saw the giant multiversal war and she saw everyone, including Doctor Strange, charging at Wanda to stop her from erasing all of existence. Then Wanda said three words and a flash of light destroyed everything that ever existed. Sylvie ripped her hand away in distresse and she breathed heavily.

Strange stared into the abyss. For the first time, he saw the dream clearly. Sylvie completely unlocked all his memories of that event.

Loki: Sylvie, what did you see?

Sylvie: I... I saw the multiversal war! The one he who remains warned us about. I saw it all. (Watch *Loki Season 1 Finale*)

Loki: So now you believe him?

Sylvie: Now is not the time for this! I saw everyone fighting against Wanda. Even Kang was on our side! She really did destroy everything and rewrote all of reality! She is the one who took our lives from us! She is the one who took our free will and created the TVA!

Thor (838): When I get my hands on her... That witch will feel my wrath!

Doctor Strange: I refuse to believe she did it without reason.

Strange was conflicted because he now knew that she was completely in the wrong. But the fact that he has lived most of her life, he found it very hard not to be on her side. It would be like turning on yourself.

Starlord: Yeah I think you're crazy, magic guy. Why are you going so far out of your way to defend someone like this?

Wong: I'm sorry, Strange. The risk is too great. The fate of the entire multiverse depends on the decision we make here.

Spider-Man: I can't do this anymore. I'm done. I'm not gonna kill my friend.

Wong: Moments ago you two were merely acquaintances. Now you're suddenly friends?

Spider-Man: I saw who she really was. She isn't just something to get rid of. She is a human being... A very fragile human being, despite all the power she has. She needs us! We can't just turn against her... I'm sorry but I won't be a part of this.

Ms Marvel walked to Spider-Man's side.

Ms Marvel: Me neither. I don't want someone's death on my conscience. I don't even think I would be able to kill Hitler if he was in front of me.

Strange finally saw the full truth. He finally understood what the eye of agomotto tried to show him. He finally spoke up after hesitating before. He knew what had to be done, even if it would break his heart.

Doctor Strange: I finally know what the eye of agomotto tried to tell me...

Strange was deeply moved as unwelcome intrusive thoughts inundated his mind, triggering a wellspring of intense emotions that left him shedding tears. He took ample time to contemplate the situation, his thoughts consumed by the gravity of Wanda's actions and the hard-hitting realities of their mission to preserve the multiverse. With a heavy heart, he pondered the necessary steps they must take, knowing full well that the fate of myriad worlds hung in the balance.

Doctor Strange: I can't believe I'm saying this... but her death... could be the key to saving everything... Wanda changed all of reality. That is what the dream tried to show me. She altered reality meaning if we kill her...

Wong: This false reality would cease to exist. Everything she changed will revert back to how it originally was. How everything was supposed to be.

Doctor Strange: We can save our universe and the entire multiverse...

The immense amount of power that coursed through Wanda's veins was just too much to fathom for any mortal being. Strange used his knowledge of eldritch magic and the rules that go with it, the rule stating that a false reality can only be kept up by the magic user who created it. If they die, the false reality will die too. But he didn't understand that Wanda was no ordinary magic user. In fact, she was no magic user at all. She was a nexus being, gifted with the power of the Celestials themselves by the Living Tribunal. The reality she created was not formed by magic at all.

Strange walked toward Ms Marvel and Spider-Man's side and talked to the rest of the heroes.

Doctor Strange: What happens now is not up to me. I can't help you guys. I won't be able to... I care too much about her... I won't try and stop you. Even if I tried, I would be hilariously outnumbered.

Doctor Doom: You still haven't told us where we would find her.

Strange was still hesitant fot a moment, not truly willing to reveal her location to them, as he spoke, he stuttered for a moment.

Doctor Strange: I... hid her... at the N...

He took a breath and continued.

Doctor Strange: I hid her... at the New York Sanctum. She should be there...

Magneto was also very conflicted. He punched a broken pillar next to him in frustration and anger. He breathed deep into his nose while clenching his fist, bending a steel pipe that layed near them with his powers.

Magneto: Are you sure this is the right decision?

Doctor Strange: I'm afraid so...

Magneto: Dam this!!

Magneto stood still for a while, on the brink of tears, recollecting his composure. He then went to Doctor Strange, Ms Marvel and Spider-Man's side.

Magneto: (Talks to everyone else) Just do what has to be done and get it over with.

Hawkeye finally spoke up after being quiet the entire time, he took a while to come to a decision since he still cared about Wanda deep down, but he knew that the fate of everything was at stake.

Hawkeye: This is the only way... But I won't be the one to do it.

Hawkeye also walked toward Strange, Magneto, Ms Marvel and Spider-Man. He joined them by their side. Kate naturally chose his side as well. Hawkeye nodded his head and Kate nodded back faintly.

Iron Man (838): So everyone else is on board now except you six?

The vocal few made their stance known while the others just nodded in agreement.

Thor: Absolutely.

Korg: If Thor is in, then I am too.

Monica took the longest to come to a decision, because she didn't want to make either. She would've rather protected Wanda, the same way she protected her during Westview.

Photon (Monica): I'm sorry but are you people crazy!? Wanda is not some being to kill! She's our friend! I'm not gonna fight her. She's been through enough already.

She joined Strange's side.

Captain America (Sam): I just hope this whole nightmare ends soon.

Groot: I am Groot.

Rocket: We're the Guardians of the Galaxy. We won't be living up to our name if we didn't do something.

Captain Marvel: Let's just get this over with.

The heroes from both universes stood together in agreement except for the seven who refused to fight with them: Doctor Strange, our Spider-Man, Magneto, Hawkeye, Kate, Monica and Ms Marvel.

Doctor Strange: Before you go, I think it's best if the seven of us went to Wanda first. I want her to understand what has to happen... I can't imagine what she would think if everyone suddenly starts attacking her from every direction with no explanation at all. She deserves to know what's about to happen... Also... I want to say goodbye before... Before she's gone.

Cyclops: There is no time for this. It needs to be done quickly before it's too late. And what makes you think she won't try to escape this when she hears about our plan.

Doctor Strange: I know her better than anyone. I know her as if I am her. With everything going on, right now I believe she would understand. The same way Vision understood when she had to kill him before Thanos could get the mind stone from his head.

Kang was still sitting on his throne in the Quantum Realm, observing everything from Vision's eyes. Kang thought it would be a good idea for Strange to tell Wanda what's about to happen and why it needs to happen. It would fit neatly into his plan for revenge since Wanda would be completely destroyed after understanding that she is the enemy that needs to be stopped. So he ordered Vision to play along.

Vision: Strange is right. There is only a 12% probability that Wanda would try to get away or fight back. Let them go.

Magneto: (Talks to Cyclops) Please, Scott. (He looks at the rest) I ask you all as a friend... And as a father.

Captain Marvel: Well, we do have to discuss how we're gonna do this so you might as well take that time to say your goodbyes. It all depends on wether you're telling the truth or if this is some plan to hide her from us.

Jean Grey: I just read their minds. They are sincere. We should let them say their goodbyes. It's the right thing to do.

Doctor Doom: This is absurd.

Sentry: I agree.

Iron Man (838): (Looks at Doctor Strange and sighs) You've got five minutes.

Doctor Strange: Thank you.

Strange opened up a portal to the New York Sanctum. Spider-Man, Magneto, Ms Marvel, Monica, Kate and Hawkeye followed him and the portal closed behind them.

Thor (838): Great, now you just complicated things! We could've ambushed her and ended this quickly! Now she will know what's about to come.

Iron Man (838) and Captain Marvel gathered all the heroes on the battlefield. All of the Avengers, Guardians, X-Men, Fantastic Four and every other individual hero from both universes. They stood in a circle discussing what they would do when they get to Wanda.

New York

As the incursion slowly caused the buildings to melt away, Wanda was sitting on her knees in the middle of the street with endless tears streaming down her tired face. She felt so much remorse over what she just caused, added on to her pain over the trauma she experienced on the Island. After what Spider-Man told her, she had a very small glimmer of hope inside of her. Hope that she can somehow not only fix all of this, but maybe even reverse what has already happened, but her glimmer of hope was still overwhelmed with sorrow.

Doctor Strange arrived inside the destroyed Sanctum with the other seven heroes who didn't want to kill her. They walked outside and saw Wanda sitting in the street. Wanda turned her head and looked at them. She noticed the melancholy and dread in their faces.

They walked toward her and Magneto held out his hand to lift her onto her feet, holding her with a gentle embrace without saying a word.

In this short time that he's known our Wanda, he has grown very fond of her. Mostly because he empathized with her and he couldn't bare seeing any version of his daughter in such immense emotional anguish. But there was something else he couldn't shake. This feeling deep down that transcends reality. A feeling that he's known her his whole life.

Wanda let go of him, unclear of what was going on, but she knew it had to be very bad news. Hawkeye also gave her a brief hug. It felt like hugging his very own daughter. In some way he felt that all of this was his fault too, like a guardian neglecting a grieving child.

Hawkeye: I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me. Just know that whatever happens, we'll be right beside you.

Monica: You are not alone.

Spider-Man removed his mask again, revealing his tears.

Spider-Man: I'm so sorry, Wanda. I tried. I really did.

Wanda snuffled and she felt a sense of angst in her heart, completely oblivious to everything.

Wanda: What's going on, what's happening...?

Strange, too, felt a lump in his throat, knowing what was about to happen.

Doctor Strange: Wanda, you really don't remember any of it, do you? The multiversal war. How you changed reality...

Wanda: I don't... I would never... I...

Magneto: This isn't right. None of this.

Strange let Wanda's head rest onto his shoulder as he whispered.

Doctor Strange: It's okay kid... It's okay.

Wanda: They're all coming to kill me, aren't they? (She snuffled again while crying softly) They think I'm a monster.

Monica: No, Wanda. No one thinks you're a monster... I don't. It's a bit more complicated this time.

Doctor Strange: Look kid, the fact that you changed reality, means that this entire reality is under your original spell. The only way to break the spell is to eliminate the one who said it. That is you... But we're not here for that.

Wanda: Then what are you here for?

Ms Marvel: We are here because we couldn't side with the rest.

Wanda: Are you here to protect me?

Doctor Strange: We... We are here t...

Strange took a deep breath into his nose and out of his mouth.

Doctor Strange: We are here to say goodbye...

Magneto: Your death could save the entire multiverse, Wanda. Your sacrifice could reverse all of this as if it never happened.

Wanda: Monica?

Monica: I'm sorry Wanda. I know what you must be feeling, but there's nothing we can do to stop them.

Wanda: Peter?

Peter didn't even notice that Wanda just called him by his name in front of the others. He was too focused on what's happening right now.

Spider-Man: I don't agree with any of this... From the bottom of my heart... If there was a way to save you without putting the multiverse in danger, I would've done everything in my power to do so.

Wanda closed her eyes with rivers of tears streaming down her cheeks. She opened her eyes and looked at Peter after being lost in her thoughts for a while.

Wanda: This is it...

Spider-Man: This is what?

Wanda: Back in New Asgard you told me we will change my destiny... Whatever it takes... This is it. This is that moment.

Doctor Strange: Wanda what are you saying?

Wanda: I refuse to be some prophecy destined to destroy the universe. This is the moment I pay for all of my mistakes. This is the moment I set everything right...

Magneto: Wanda you don't have to do this you know. We can run, hide. We can go to another universe, lay low start a new life, use one of Kang's reset charges so we don't cause an incursion. There are ways out of this.

Wanda: I know...

Erik saw that she already made up her mind. He exhaled through his nose with his head looking down.

Magneto: Very well... So long, then, my dear child. May your broken soul finally find rest in the hereafter.

Doctor Strange: It's been a privilege to have known you, Wanda. To have lived your entire life myself. I wouldn't take back anything that I've experienced in those dreams. You are a part of me now. I'm not overselling it to say that you have made me a better person... For that, I will always be grateful.

Wanda wiped her tears, nodded her head in appreciation and snuffled.

Wanda: I'm ready.

Everyone stood in a small circle around her and they all put their hands on her shoulders. She closed her eyes while crying softly. With her voice barely audible, she opened up to them.

Wanda: Thank you for being here... It means everything to me.

The atmosphere was thick with palpable grief as Peter and her father put their arms tightly around her. Their embrace a tender attempt to convey their love and support. Doctor Strange and Hawkeye joined in, their hearts heavy with the weight of the moment. The remaining members stood at a respectful distance, their silent solidarity a testament to the depth of their bond with Wanda.

As they held her, each of them could feel her pain radiating through her body, the weight of her sorrow too heavy to bear alone. The circle of love around her was a sanctuary, a haven from the harsh reality that awaited them outside. Time seemed to stand still as they held onto her, desperate to keep her close for just a little while longer.

In the midst of their shared sorrow, they found strength in each other's presence. They knew that they couldn't take away Wanda's pain, nor what was about to happen, but they could stand by her side, united in their love and unwavering support. And so they stood, arms intertwined, hearts heavy, waiting for the rest to arrive, unwilling to let go of her. Wanda cried softly, standing in the middle of their embrace, feeling the love that surrounded her, she uttered what she thought would be her final words.

Wanda: I love you guys.
